Stricter Security?

Been back a week from 8 park hopping days plus Disney Springs. 3 of us not flagged once. My son carries auvi-q injectors for food allergies and used to hold them out when he went through, he forgot the first time we went though this time and it was fine.
I will say that some of them sound like they should be working for TSA at MCO. They like to yell at people.

My visit to the parks this past May my sister kept getting stopped almost every time we went into the parks. I wasn't stopped once. No one could explain what was making them flag her, she held her umbrella out, took out her eyeglass case. No idea.

Took me multiple times being stopped before it was slow enough one day a couple security people went through my bag with me to help me figure it out when I talked to them after getting flagged. It was a welly first aid mini travel tin getting me. Basically a thin metal tin with band aids. Rarely stopped after I quit bringing that in. CM after CM said no idea why you’re triggering, it just happens.

So, if you keep triggering and it’s really slow and the CMs seem cool, ask their thoughts.

I work with scanners in my summer job at a concert venue and tins are number 4 on the list of likely culprits when we get an alarm.
1. Umbrella
2. Glasses case - it's not the hinges, btw, it's the metal of the case itself
3. Charger
4. Tin (usually Altoids)

We were flagged last week at Animal Kingdom. Security told me it was our cooling fans in our bag that likely triggered it.

We went to Disney Springs for their Lorcana release of Fabled on Friday. My son had a nylon draw bag with only 3 empty plastics for the cards we were going to get. He got flagged.

I always held out my glass case and my external charger. You definitely do not have to include your phone in what you hold out. Take this for what it's worth. But one of the security people told me that the phone size is a consistent size, and that's why it doesn't trigger things. I don't carry a metal water bottle or an umbrella. But I believe you have to hold those out too. I was never stopped until I rope dropped at epcot at the international gateway and they stopped me. I was practically in tears because I knew I had done everything correctly and was falling behind in the lines. So the security officer did tell me that occasionally they just do random. That was not my proudest moment, because I was only a couple of minutes later in line.

Between last year and this year, I was checked 11 times in a row either getting into a park or getting on the monorail. It did not bother me, but I did mention it to the guard.

I was not checked the rest of the trip.

I totally get it. The inconsistencies are frustrating when you're holding out everything they've told you to hold out and you still get pulled. Especially if you came from another park where you had the same stuff, followed the same procedure, and didn't get pulled.

We had five park hopping days and got stopped twice with my bag and DH got stopped once likely for his external charger. Oddly enough not at MK. narrowed it down to either cooling fans or our reusable metal straws.
I also kind of wonder if there is like a random setting like every 109th person gets flagged?
The guards we encountered were very polite and efficient. One gave DD a sticker since she needed to be wanded while she stood with DH during his check
