I just wish you had put in the option to vote for actually enforcing the existing dress code!!!

I don't mind that jeans are allowed, as long as nobody's wearing trashy, dirty, or ripped jeans. I also would like it better if it no t-shirts were allowed, though I do understand the coming from a theme park argument.

I always stay at a value resort, but I also eat at several signature restaurants every trip, I either 1) go back to my room and change, 2) take a nicer top with me to the parks to change into before dinner, or 3) wear my signature dinner clothes to the parks all day.

I usually do #2.

I'll usually wear capris all day, and I think they are nice enough for the signature restaurants, so that's what I wear. They aren't very fancy, but they aren't bad looking.

My general rule of thumb is; if I would wear it to church, it's okay for a signature restaurant. :thumbsup2

I like the dress code as it is, but I'd like to see it enforced more often, especially when it comes to ripped clothes and men in tank tops. I don't think a stricter dress code is really very practical for your average Disney traveller who hasn't been there a dozen times, doesn't rent a car, and wouldn't spend 2 hours on buses to go change between the park and dinner.

For the money that you spend at these restaurants, I don't see the reason not to look presentable. I understand about park clothing, etc., but it would be so much nicer if people would take the extra time to go back to their resort and change before going to a Signature restaurant. :)

I'm fine either way but I certainly do not want to get dressed up, spend the evening in uncomfortable shoes, sitting next to a table where a couple is arguing or kids are coloring. If the atmosphere is going to be like Applebee's then I want to be able to dress accordingly.

::yes::
or like our last excursion to narcoose's.....both of us dressed nicely, i'm wearing heels. guard checks our ADR. & points (vaguely) toward the other end of the resort for us to park. after circling the resort 2x (giving up on the obviously disinterested & unhelpful guard :sad2: ), we found the lot across the street. so all dressed up, hiking across the resort, alllllllll the way back to the restaurant. (btw, would have valet parked, but didn't realize the distance ~ we had used the guest lot while staying there. by the time we realized, we would have been late for our ADRs).
there were a about 3-4 children running through the restaurant, apparently playing tag, bumping into waitstaff & diners :confused3 , some crying, but the worse happened about 1/2 way into our entrees: the stench literally permeating the area from a much needed diaper change (the offenders sitting directly behind me, of course :sad1: ). i left the rest of my entree uneaten, as with the dessert. (restaurant was crowded, with no tables available for us to move to, & the parents just sat there, letting it ferment :scared: ).

the experience was certainly not what we would consider "fine dining". :sad2:

I think it is very important to let the offending parties know what they are doing in a respectful manner. If that doesn't work you need to talk to the restaurant mangement. IF they don't want to do anything I would seriously consider not paying my bill. We need to take a stand and stop these "people" from ruining the signature restaurants. If you are worried about making a scene. Talk to the manager if he/she does nothing pay the bill with a cc and call the cc company in the moring and decline the charge. Will you get out of the bill, probably not but maybe Disney will take notice. If you are on the DDD I guess you are SOL.

1) Yes, stricter enforcement.
2) I think things are far to lax, and need to be tightened.
3) That is one reason why we patronize only five of the WDW sit-down eateries.
4) If you have a dress code, THEN ENFORCE IT!

As long as you are clean and I don't see any ****s or butts I am fine with what people want to wear. Its a theme park, I don't dress up or bring any dress clothes when we come to :yay: .We usually wear shorts and Disney shirts, crocks or flip flops or our running shoes.

The "problem " as I see it is this,if you were in your Home town then you would probably make an effort to dress-up but but as you are on Vacation that makes it different. From a personnal stand point we come over for 3 weeks,if I suddenly have to bring 3 weeks of shirts, ties, trousers plus shorts ,t-shirts..... not only do I need more suitcases but a bigger plane! I'm also sure that if WDW were to enforce a stricter dress code then people would vote with their feet & go elsewhere!

I can not believe that people actually let what others are wearing interfere with their dining pleasure, that has got to be the craziest thing I have ever heard...LOL!!!!! :lmao: :rotfl: Why are you even looking (down your nose) at them? :snooty:

'Oh honey, I just can't eat because that table over there has a family in shorts and look the husband has on JEANS & a T-SHIRT!!:crazy2: my appetite is just ruined. Lets leave.'

It is a theme park and the resorts are an extension of it.

I don't really care what others are wearing so I think the dress code is fine as it is. We usually try to get back and change but the transportation can make that difficult for some people.

I disagree with having to bring a lot more clothes with me to dress presentably at finer dining establishments while on vacation. Every resort is equiped with laundry machines. We usually bring 2 sets of nice clothes and just wash them. It's very convenient. Throw your clothes in before dinner, then dry them over night.

Maybe its just me but I don't care what others are wearing. I do care about volume control. I wish CMs would occasionally and very polietly tell some guest to lower their voices But I understand why it doesn't happen. People are on vacation and I don't think it is my job to police what they are wearing. I think if you feel like getting gussy up go for it, I plan to do that before Le Cellier but if not I can't really blame you.

Just don't ACT trashy and I won't care what you wear.

What if someone wore gym clothes or jeans or a tank top or a mickey mouse shiirt to church or to a wake or funeral or to a wedding or graduation Would you be offended?? :confused3 There are certain times in one's life where it is more appropriate to wear nicer clothes than jeans and a t-shirt. It is what seperates us from the animals. :cool1: The fact that the resorts are near a theme park has nothing to do with it. If you went to a wedding at one of the resorts would you wear your dumpy clothes because it as an extension of the theme park? :confused3

Florida is hot 9 months a year. The clothes are a reflection of the heat in Florida

Too hot for long sleeve shirts, ties, sports jackets, and even long pants.

People that have 10 or more days a year, have time to go back to room and shower. People that only have 5 days.... they spend 12 hours in the park and hit dinner on the way back to hotel....no time for a 5 hour beauty rest (taking into consideration travel time by bus)

We take the 5 hour break and get all dressed up, but that's because we've done all the rides plenty of times and our new interest is the dinner experience.

There are plenty of places in the park to go in your "park clothes".

I hear a lot of people saying that it doesn't bother them what people look like in a nicer restaurant. If I am paying $40+ for a meal, I don't want the tablecloths to be dirty, the wait staff to be dressed poorly, or the food to be bad. That is analogous to people coming into these restaurants looking shabby. It ruins the mood, and the mood is the thing that makes the magic at Disney. The parks evoke a certain mood, and the finer restaurants should allowed to have theirs.

No, I would not be offended.

I had someone tell me they were not going to come to my wedding because they didn't feel they had the right clothes to wear. My answer? I invited YOU not your clothes! I want you there.

I don't think Jesus cares what you wear to church either. "Oops, you wore the wrong clothes, no heaven for you. I think not!

Umm, the resorts have nothing to do with the theme park? :rotfl: Yeah OK  Why do you think they are there? And decorated the way they are? To keep the Disney feeling going even in the resorts! You are too funny!!!!:lmao:

Yes, I would like to see a slightly stricter dress code at some but not all of the signature dining restaurants at the resorts. However one must remember sometimes guests choose to dine at one of those restaurants upon arrival and may not have brought the proper clothing on their vacation. Unless I know I am going to a nice restaurant I will only bring shorts to Disney World. So while I am usually always in favor of stricter dress codes this may be one scenario to keep the policy as is. It would also be hard to make a slight change to the policy. You can ban jeans -- but many people wear nice dressy jeans. You can ban shorts -- but it is summertime in Florida, not too many people come prepared with pants. There are also many people who can "dress up" in kaki shorts and a polo, so it’s a tough policy to make.

All that said I would have no problem with a stricter dress code at a few of the nicer resort restaurants. This would provide a nice atmosphere to those who want finer dining but don’t necessarily want to dine at V & A.

While i wouldnt mind a stricter code i agree with the Applebees analogy

but i do have to say, people tend to act accordingly to how they are dressed (kids especially)...if you take the time to dress Jr. in his nice “church” clothes maybe he'll act like he's supposed to sit and be calm ...leave him in his park clothes and he'll act like he’s still in the park
