OK im venting here were leaving in 9 days for the first trip in years 17 to be exact just grandma DD whos 4 and me very excited Mom, we have been planning the trip for 2 yrs and this summer had been awful, Grandma fell and frctured her hip July 2 but is doing much much better. still gets tired. We had thought about postponing but decided against it Well now Grandma is sick has a bad cold maybe brontisis ( sp) DD has been in the bathroom all day but not sick yet just a tummy ache But spent the weekend with grandma so now Im waiting for her to get sick 10 days later!!!!!! so here's my question ( becides me needing a glass of wine) Can anyone recomend a Doc in Fla that is easy to get to incase I need Him. We will not have a car so will have to take a cab if needed. I pray we won't but i want to be ready in case. Thanks so much  :o

On the resorts board, page 2, there is a thread about doctors coming to the hotel room. Are you staying onsite? This is what I would do. The cost is $165, but you don't know what the cost of going to a clinic would be or if your ins will pay it. Also, there is the time factor of having to wait in a clinic around sick people vs being comfortable in your room.

Hopefully if it is a tummy bug it will be through the whole family within a week! When DS was 4 he was sick the night we were in transit, His brother and I had it within two days and DH and GM had it two days later! I have found it to be the case that tummy bugs work faster than colds etc. I surely hope your trip goes well and am sending pixie dust your way!

I hope everything works out for you! I hope it passes quickly and DGM gets better and has a wonderful trip free of any upsetting events.

I am actually going throu a simular situation. We are leaving 3 weeks from today and I am soo excited. I took DD1 to the ENT yesterday and he said she have surgery to put tubes in her ears or she can't fly. Her eardrums will burst because of the pressure mounted in her ear coupled with the airplane pressure. So, I am waiting until two for the Doctor to tell me when she can be scheduled for surgery.

If her surgery can't be scheduled until after the trip we are going to drive down. I am compeletly stressing out becuase if she can't get her surgery I am going to make an appointment with the ENT again to make sure rides like Dumbo and the Mexico ride won't hurt her while we are there.

I have 18 people going on this trip, so I can't postpone at all. So all I can do is hold my breath and hope for the best.

There is good news for both of us. I am sure DGM is on antibiotics and my DD will be on them if she gets her surgery..so we can have a free fridge in our rooms! A little thing, but hey at this point the little things are all we can smile about;)

Bearlock: I'm hoping that this is just a tummy bug too! We have been a couple of times where one or more of us has been ill but you'll get through it! I am sure you will be able to find a doctor to help you without too much trouble just remember to bring your medical cards and anything else you can think of ok? (like you didn't already know this huh?) GOOD LUCK and try to have FUN!

Onecoolmama: WOW! your poor DD! did you find out anything about getting her surgery done? I am lucky enough to have never had any of my kids get ear problems but I on the other hand have ALWAYS had them! I have never had tubes but I've had some really awful pain when I've been flying. Have you paid for your airfair yet? you are very smart in thinking about driving although it will take some of your vacation time away...but it's worth it for you and your little one. GOOD LUCK!

Thank-you for the concern. She is scheduled for surgery on September 26th..we leave October 1st. They cleared her to fly..now I just have to make sure she passes the pre opt and post opt check up. We have actually had a tough year with her being really sick..so hopefully this will be the begining of a happier child.

I just hope like Bearlock that we are all healthy for the trip. Her DGM sounds like a real trooper..sounds like she can get herself healthy by then! I hope your DD just has the 24-48 hour bug. My DS and DD had that last week! No fun, but glad that it didn't stay long.

Your DD should be fine flying with her tubes.

Both of my kids had them when they flew. DS's were put in less than 1 week before we left for Hawaii (9 hour flight).

DD's were put in about 1 1/2 weeks before WDW.

They both did great. Actually, they have no ear problems with the tubes when flying because it automatically equalizes the pressure.

Glad they got everything set up so quickly.

Now, have that glass of wine and relax (it's 5:00 p.m. somewhere, right?).

Thank-you DisneyEveryYear!!

I was very concerned about DD flying less then a week after having the Tubes put in, but if your child did ok..then I am sure that mine will too..thanks!

My DS had tubes put in too, but we didn't fly anywhere for awile so i wasn't too worried. I am glad your little trooper was up for traveling..and I hope mine will be the same.

When we were little one year I came down with an ear infection (as usual) at Disney and another time by brother got Mono! Disney had a list of docs and places they would recommend but I have heard in recent years that docs will come to the resort.
