Strep Throat...HELP!!!

They did the strep test thing on both of us where they take the swab and swab the back of your throat...I really hate that! Mine came out positive but his actually came up negative. The doctor said that they were using some kind of new testing kit and she thought the nurse put too much of the solution on his swab and dilluted the results or something. But she said that since we both had the exact same symptoms and they started at the exact same time that chances are that we both have strep.

I get strep frequently and hate shots but let me tell you I would jump on the opportunity for a shot to take away the pain of strep....they could cut of my pinky toe if it took it away...I don't know how you could not have gotten the shot! I can't imagine you were in that much pain if you opted for the script...you must really hate shots! I'm definately going ask next time I come down with it. But back to your original question. Believe it or not I love and swear by Rita's Mistos. REally numbs the throat. Its the only time I drink them but I'm sure to send the DH out for one when I'm feeling really bad. Tea as hot as you can stand it helps with the swelling. Advil, Motrin...forget Tylenol...it is worthless... a little perocet couldn't help but I can never convince my Doc to give me any ! Other than that try to sleep as much as possible. Seems to help with the recovery!
