I remember that AK did not give straws or lids for the cups. Is it like that in all the parks? I really can't remember. I am debating if we need to tote along a bunch of sippy cups. He normally doesn't have any problems if there is a lid and straw. So if its only AK, then maybe I will only take a cup along for then.

JUst AK due to the animals. You can buy a refillable cup there that has a lid and straw . It does cost a small fee to get it refilled but I guess they do it because of the no straw issues.

I just saw these last week. The throw away sippy cups now have the next step up, it is a cup with a lid and a straw, which has cute designs (Cars and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, etc.). I would have really used these, but my ds is 4 now and probably just grew out of that stage.:)

We have tried those, however DS bites the lids off. He will also just bite the lid off around the sippy part, so when he holds the cup up it just pours down the front of him. I really wanted to avoid the hassle of remembering cups everywhere, but if its just AK then we could handle that. Thanks everyone.:thumbsup2

Yes, just AK.

We loved the straw cups from the first years too! Best seal I had found in anything but we didn't use normal sippy cups so this was great for when I needed a lid!

hmmmm, we stopped at a popcorn cart in AK last week and they had straws. I remember b/c DH took it out and was commenting that he had never seen cardboard straws before. :confused3 It was a popcorn cart that also sold frozen lemonade and fruit punch, right next to the "Tough to be a Bug" entrance, if that helps.

That may be something thats needed for those frozen drinks. I can see how the Paper or cardboard straws wouldn't cause as big of a problem as Plastic. I remember Paper straws when I was younger as well.

IKEA stores also have paper straws in their food court. Until I went there I had never seen one before. I thought it was interesting. Didn't see them at AK a few weeks ago however we only spend one day there and the only place we ate at was Restaurantasaurus (sp?) - which is Macdonalds. They didn't have lids or straws there. To answer the OP's question though in agreement w/everyone else. It's only AK that has the no straw rule and it is because of the animals. All the other parks give you lids & straws.

I bought a sippy cup with 2 handles on the sides to bring when my sons were small, and brought some of those plastic chain links that I attached 1 end to the cup and another to the stroller. This way, if he dropped it, it was always attached to the stroller. When done for the day, I took it off the stroller and attached it to my back pack. The links also double as an amusement for long line waits. I just washed it out with soap and water in the hotel sink at night.

AK has started to provide straws, but not lids. The straws are cardboard-type, and they work fine as long as you are fairly timely in drinking your drink and you don't bite down on it. I don't think they would work well for a small child, and you still wouldn't have a lid.

AK doesn't have straws are because of the animals..just in case any straw lids etc gets into the animals..the other parks have them:) I use a straw for all of my drinks so I always have extras in my purse or backpack..
