Strategy for Japanese candy lady?!?!

I don't think they sell them anywhere. We were going to buy one last year because she picked my daughter but not my son so we were thinking about buying him one. We ended up waiting around after the show to thank her and I think because my son was being a good sport and not complaining about not getting one, she ended up giving him an extra one that was already made. It was very nice of her. It was an especially good lesson for him because the mom in front of us threw a complete hissy fit because one of her kids got chosen and the other didn't. This woman was actually yelling "We've been waiting all this time, that's not fair etc." I couldn't believe it. I mean here she is giving out free candy and this woman is still yelling. The woman's kids were about 10-13 years old so it wasn't even like they were 3 years old and they'd be crying about it. She stormed out of there and everyone else standing there was stunned. Anyway, DD got a unicorn and DS got a snake which was cool because it was wrapped around the stick and would slither up and down when you moved the stick back and forth. Our kids are 5 and 7 and loved watching her make the candy. I think she picked an adult, some older kids and some younger kids.

While in Epoct last year, there were signs posted on when she would return. We waited 15 min. ahead of time for her. When she came out, as usual, rude parents pushed their small children in front of my DD(14) who is also very tall. She ignored them and proceeded to ask my DD what she would like her to make. And she acknowledged the fact that we had waited for her. She did a panda for my DD and a mouse for my DS. She was well worth the wait and very sweet. My suggestion is to get there 10-15 min. ahead of time and you will have no problem seeing her.

We saw the candy lady by chance the first time we were there. She offered us a candy, but we didn't know it was free, so we turned her down. I hope she wasn't offended. It was neat just to watch.

I have a picture from last year of a penguin that the candy lady made for my daughter, however, I don't know how to get that picture posted here.

Can someone help?

What a neat person to have at Epcot! I very much hope we see her working on her craft!

Thanks for sharing about her,

Kris

We were fortunate to have her at the Wilderness Lodge for Hurricane Frances. Unfortunately--people hoarded the tables before she even got there, so I think she more farely picked a person off of each side and in front of her and even behind her. Since everyone had cabin fever--I think they all went a little cabin crazy for her.

And yes, she makes these things in less than 2 minutes. It is amazing. I enjoyed watching her in the air conditioning :hyper: .

We got lucky last month. Miyoki chose my dd after we had watched her previous show. And we were not able to get the darn thing home in one piece!! My dd picked a unicorn. If you want to get your creation home...pick something more solid with nothing sticking out!!! We bought a big coffee mug and packed it in that, and packed the whole thing in a gift box, with the stick poking out thru a hole in the box. Packed undies around it and it was still broken when we got home!! And then it started melting!! It is now in the freezer. Who knows how long it will be there!!!!!

Oh, my....why not just take pictures and let them eat it? Save yourselves the angst!! I think there's a time to let a wonderful memory be just that...complete with sticky fingers! ::yes::

My daughter got picked on her birthday :) she picked a pink swan! It came out beautifully and my girl was THRILLED!

Is the Japanese Candy Lady the one outside the exhibit who makes the colorful animal candy "suckers" from a sugar paste? If so, we just happened upon her this past May (we were about the 2nd ones to show up). She was just AWESOME! It's the little touches like this that make the WDW/EPCOT experience so rewarding.

THANK YOU JAPANESE CANDY LADY!

We LOVE the Candy Lady! Last Christmas my teen dd took my twin dd & ds (age 7) to Epcot while I stayed behind in our room at the Poly w/ my 2 youngest who were sick.

The twins were both picked and she made them a swan and a snake--amazing work! They were so excited to show them to me. I told them they could eat them, but they refused! We still have them in pretty good condition.

We've seen her show quite a few times and she's always fun to watch even if you don't get picked.

During our July trip, unfortunately for us, she was back home in Japan.

We saw Miyuki last October on a Wednesday. We arrived 5 or 10 minutes after she had started. My daughter was intrigued and kept exclaiming, "Wow!" and, "Mom, look at that!" and so on. Toward the end of her presentation she asked my daughter what she would like, and she made her a white tiger with blue eyes and cute little whiskers. It is amazing how quickly she works. She was very gracious and kind, and was our favorite Epcot experience.
