We are going in March and just found out my thrill seeking daughter is pregnant with her first child!!!! She is stressed over what she can and can not do. Her baby is due in July/August. She has tried so long to have a baby and this is truly a blessing and she does not want to take any chances. Is there a thread for rides when you are pregnant? Any advice? Thanks so much!!

I went while I was 16 weeks along with my second child. We had a 2 year old along with us, so more than anything that limited what I rode. (didn't want to ride alone) We asked my OB, she basically told me if I could fit under the harness it should be fine (no complications and not in the high risk pg group). Being slightly more cautious, I stayed off the rides that warned against riding while pregnant- except Kilamanjaro Safari. The way we figured, if it was safe for my 2 year old, I'd be okay too. :)

Have her talk to her OB, and go from there.

My most helpful hint- you can request a cup of ice from anywhere that sells fountain drinks, I like my water *really* cold so this was a big deal to me (we were also there in May- much hotter), drink LOTS of water and rest when she's tired. I was too pooped to stay out late (so was 2yo DS ;)) so we crashed pretty early.

Sorry for the long post.
We went this past Oct while I was 2 months preggie and I am high risk with this pregnancy. In MK I did everything but, BTMRR, SplashM, SpaceM, Astro Orbiter, and Tomorrowland Speedway. In EPCOT I could do everything but MS and TT. I even did Soarin' although I was a little nervous but it was great. I would suggest if your daughter is still having any nausea when she goes have her ask for the last row in Soarin' as it is easier to handle. In MGM I skipped TOT, RNR, and ST. As for AK I found this to be the least pregnancy friendly park. At the suggestion of my specialist I skipped KS, KRR, Dinosaur, and Primevil Whirl, I would also skip EE now that it is opening. This park was hardest because of all the walking to things I couldn't ride however, for the first time my DH and I sat at varous stops around the TOL and just enjoyed the view. It was a very nice and relaxing expierence. The one other peice of advice I have is be ready to walk slow. I know people say that but I am telling you I thought I was moving at a good pace and my DH and 2 DS's were begging me to get a wheelchair so that people weren't passing us all over the place. Overal though I must say it was one of the better trips we have taken and I truly got to enjoy parts of the parks that I had overlooked when I was rushing by. :flower2:

I went a heck of a long time ago with a first time pregnancy. One word of advice. You will soon know where every single bathroom is at Disney World. My husband calls that trip "The One With the Bathrooms".

Your daughter can go with you in all the queues leading up to the ride. Then she can ask to leave. That way, everyone will be together up until the last moment and she won't have to sit and wait for a long time for you. This worked well with my non thrill seeking father-in-law.

I went this past Dec at 11w. Unfortunately I had 24/7 nausea so I didn't go on any rides or get to enjoy all my favourite foods :( We just took it really easy and saw lots of sit down shows and when needed I spent time on a bench.

Are they staying on property? We were at OKW so at night when I was sickest I was able to safely get back to the hotel and DH did some things on his own (like PI).

My advice, don't push it. Do what you can but WDW will always be there and next time she'll be back it will be with her little one.

I have been to WDW while pregnant at various times during the pregnancy. Luckily I never had any nausea so that was not a problem. I stayed off mst rides except from the kiddie ones and stopped often to rest and made sure I had plenty of water. We also stayed on property and I made use of the pools plenty.

Hi

I went while preg. with my 3rd child. I was in the 1st trimester. I would say she should talk to her OB. It seems most OB are aware of the various rides and can offer her guidance in what to avoid. If in doubt skip the ride. I missed alot of the rides but I had a wonderful trip anyway! Tell her to take it slow and drink lots of water!

I hope you all have a wonderful time.

If I'm calculating this right she will be about 4 months along when you go in March. Run things by your OBGYN ahead of time- and tell your daughter to only do what she is comfortable with. If there is any question in her mind about any attraction- it probably shouldn't be ridden. Also, and most importantly- tell her to stay well hydrated. As a labor and delivery nurse, dehydration is one of the top things I see girls come in to be treated for pre-term. Clear, uncaffeinated beverages are a must! And don't forget to stop and rest. She'll know when she's done enough! Have fun!

I went to WDW this October/November when I was about 4 months along as well. We had a great time, and I was glad that we went! I was also worried about what rides I could go on, etc. March should be a good time of year to go, because it won't be overwhelmingly hot. In any case, here are some tips.

1. Stay hydrated... it's really important to be hydrated while you're pregnant, so carry around a water bottle (I refilled mine along the way).

2. Frequent bathroom trips. I never used so many bathrooms at WDW, but all that extra water has an effect.

3. If she feels tired, sit down and take a break. I had to slow down a little from the pace I normally use at WDW, but it's important to take breaks before you get exhausted.

She should talk to her OB/GYN about the rides. Everyone's doctor gives slightly different advice. My doctor said basically to use my common sense when it comes to rides, and gave me the ok for Splash Mountain and Tower of Terror (Luckily, my OB/GYN was really familiar with the rides at WDW). I avoided Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Mission Space, the Rock N Roller Coaster.

We wnet to celebrate when my wife was pregnant for dd (now 14 mo) and it was a very special trip...beware of buying too many baby Disney things!!!

We avoided thrill rides, I alwasy knew where the closest bathroom was and she brought sandals to wear while we were taking a break, watching the parade etc. This helped with her feet.

Good luck and have a great time.

The Unofficial Guide has a section for expecting mothers. I followed all of the restrictions except for Kilamanjaro Safaris. I rode in the front seat and it was fine (of course, that choice is up to your DD). I knew it was just a vehicle ride and I held on to my belly for the few bumps. It didn't seem any worse to me than the cab ride I took through construction in Boston a few weeks before Dinsey! :teeth:

I drank a ton of water. I loved my little water bottle strap that I toted the whole trip. I had a great time and now we're going back in May with my DS who will be 15 months for his "second" Disney trip (first one on the outside!).

try the link above it gives some suggestions, however, your dd's best advice for rides and attractions would be her OBGYN.

Congratulations and have a ball this time, and think about it.....the next time you go you'll have your grandchild out and about and having an even better time!

Have a magical trip!

Thank you for all your suggestions! She will definitely get a belly band. This trip we will be taking our 2 grandchildren, children, friends, parent for a total of 24 people!!!! We are so psyched! I just want her to enjoy it as much as she is able. :sunny:

I went in December at 25 weeks.

I pretty much followed all the restrictions as well except for Kilimanjaro Safari, which I requested the front seat. Also, don't forget Soarin' is a great ride and it doesn't have any restrictions :teeth:

I visited most bathrooms on property. I was surprised at how wiped out I got, so just be prepared to take it easy and rest at any opportunity you can.
Also, be prepared to spend money! We spent a lot more time in the shops this trip since we didn't have to rush to all the big rides.

hey guys

just want to bookmark this thread...we are trying right now, have been for a few months, no luck yet. I will actually console myself if I get my period tomorrow w/the fact that I will be able to drink/ride the thrill rides/and sit in the hot tub w/out worrying.. (our trip is the first week in March).

But I'll be back to this thread if I do manage to get pregnant!

Good luck with trying. I must admit it was hard to watch the rest of my family on SplashM when i was pregnant this past Oct. Ofcourse the ride broke down and they sat at the top of the drop for almost 2hrs so I felt a little better. :rotfl2: Seriously, I fell down the stairs at 6weeks and was terrified but my OB told me that prior to 8weeks the baby is so insulated and protected that it would take a lot for them to even feel the movements. :flower2:
