Storyteller's Cafe Dinner Buffet?

Are there any opinions out there on the dinner buffet at Storyteller's Café? The set menu looks great, but I always love a good buffet! Considering this for my dad's birthday dinner!

We really like the dinner buffet. There's a fish (usually salmon), a chicken, pasta, carved turkey and roast beef, the usual chicken nuggets and mac and cheese for the kids, salads. The desserts are to die for. But the best part is the corn chowder, I could just eat bowl after bowl of that.

That sounds absolutely perfect! It's such a beautiful restaurant. I've admired it many times walking by, and this is the perfect opportunity to try it out! Thank you!

The buffet selection isn't huge like you might find at casino resort in Vegas. However the quality of the food at Storytellers is excellent. Way better than most places at DLR.

We always dine here for dinner whenever we visit!

Another "Yay!". Too many options are overwhelming, anyway. I always feel like I have to try a bit of everything!

I'm really beginning to think that I have chosen well. Thank you!

The buffet is really good and I feel it's a great value. DBF gets it when we eat there but I can't justify the cost for myself because I can't eat enough. lol I order from the menu, he orders the buffet.

Thank you, Tom. I absolutely don't mind hearing all sides of the discussion. I would much rather have realistic expectations than have high hopes dashed at meal time.

Hopefully they've made some improvements since your visit...but not changed the dessert!

The buffet is okay. On the one occasion that I went, I would say the carved beef was the best dish on the line. There was also a chicken marsala rice that was really good. The selection is small, and most of the dishes were "Meh" at best, but those were good.

The roast beef is outstanding! The wife loved the Salmon they had the last trip. Our boys ate til I thought they would be ill. Everyone always leaves Storytellers very full and happy

We love it! Have done it a few times now. Our favorites were also the beef, salmon, corn chowder, and the desserts will be going again next month

How far out of the way is the resort / restaurant. I want to plan some nice meals, but I also want to maximize our park time/ ride time. Is the hotel much of a walk from either park? Should I plan on heading there from DCA, instead of DL?

Storytellers is at the Grand so its right outside of DCA.

$29.99 for adults and $13.99 for kids. There are no characters at dinner.

How far out of the way is the resort / restaurant. I want to plan some nice meals, but I also want to maximize our park time/ ride time. Is the hotel much of a walk from either park? Should I plan on heading there from DCA, instead of DL?

No ridiculous questions!!!

Definitely head there from DCA. There is an exit from the park that goes directly into the hotel. Storyteller's is steps away from the entrance. Couldn't be easier!

It's so exciting to remember back to our first visit to the resort! You'll have a wonderful, magical time!!!

I just returned from an Adventures by Disney trip to California and we ate at Storytellers 3 times, my favorite time eating there was dinner. Like someone else had said, the desserts are excellent. I personally loved the Chinese dumplings, that was a surprise since you can't get them everywhere. Also the meat was so tasty and moist. It was convenient to eat there too. Fun atmosphere of the restaurant. I'd insert a few pictures but not sure how to do that on here, lol. Try the restaurant, you'd probably like it.

As Albertamom said, it is sooooo easy to enter the Grand California Hotel and Storytellers from California Adventure! when you enter California Adventure and to the right at the fountain you will head into Condor Flats, and carry on past Soarin Over California, then just up around the corner you will see on the right, the entrance into the Grand Californian. You do leave the park officially, so get your hand stamped. Storytellers is to the right when you go through the breezeway and very easy to find you will need to have your ticket scanned to get back into the park from there. OMG only 27 days till we are on our way!!

I read somewhere that you can irder off the sut down menu for dinner and pay just for the dessert part of the buffet... Is this true? Has anyone done this?

Their corn chowder is great. The best ever!
