Stories of CMs spreading pixie dust

On our second last trip in Sept 2004, we were riding on the very crowded, standing room only bus from MK back to CS with lots of weary parents and children. The bus driver was pointing out a few landmarks, like the car-care center and such, and then he proceeds to tell us that this bus is a special bus, but he needed our help. He called it "Magic in Motion", and started us all singing "The wheels on the bus...". Pretty soon the entire bus was singing along, at least 5 or 6 verses, laughing together. Everyone was cheered up, and the kids that weren't singing along were fast asleep.

It truly was "Magic in Motion"! I made sure that I wrote to Disney when we got home to tell them about this awesome CM. Too many times we are too quick to complain about bad experiences. We need to be just as quick and passionate about applauding extra special service.

2 weeks ago we were at WDW and had an unusual day. First we had breakfast at Crystal Palace, which was fine but we had to wait for an hour before Tigger finally came to our section. We left the restaurant at 9.30am to find our stroller had been taken. We were given a complimentary rental for the day. Whilst I went to get it my DH walked over to Frontierland to see if he could see our stroller parked somewhere. A foreign speaking family had taken it and were using it for their child. DH informed a CM and they approached him and got it back. As soon as we found the stroller we had to leave to take DD to BBB. It was a surprise and she knew nothing about it. We arrived on time but had to wait over 40 minutes for her appointment. Whilst DD-7 was getting her hair done DD-1 was getting a little jealous. One of the Fairy Godmothers at BBB lifted DD-1 into the seat and brushed her hair and covered her in glitter. She loved it!!! We finally got on a bus to Pop Century so that we could transfer and go back to MK. Our bus got stuck at the lights at Typhoon Lagoon for 25 minutes. The driver finally decided to turn right and just as he did, the lights worked again so we had to take a big detour. We got to CRT 30 minutes late and were literally the last party seated for lunch. DD-7 was given lots of attention. In our rush though we had forgotten to pick up DD's autograph book and pen, so our waitress, Keir, got all the princesses to sign DD's BBB photo package sleeve. We were the last to leave CRT so we got some great photos and felt really special. To end our crazy day DD-7 decided to cry because the line for Peter Pan's Flight was really long and it was only 5 minutes till closing, so we told her we were doing IASW instead. The CM at IASW asked why she was crying and walked us to the front of the Peter Pan line!!! We even had time to do IASW afterwards. There have been many great moments but that day sticks out because so much happened (and it was just 2 weeks ago too!)

Back when I did my college program, one of my coworkers did this. . . just something little. The store was VERY slow that day, in fact this one family was all the was in there and they had just come off the ride - the youngest was a girl who looked to be about 7 or 8 and she was carrying a balloon. Just a plain pink balloon that someone had taken a Sharpie and hand-written "Happy Birthday Brittany" on it. As they got closer, my coworker grabbed the phone and yelled for the girl "Hey are you Brittany?" The girl looked stunned and he pressed on, "Are you Brittany? We just got a phone call for someone named Brittany with your description" The family was confused as well, but it only took a few moments for them to look at the balloon and realize how he knew her name. So they pushed her towards him and as he handed off the phone he hit the speed dial for the Goofy Birthday Line. The girl just LIT up. Her parents were asking "Who is it?" and she's just grinning, "It's Goofy! He's telling me Happy Birthday!" The whole group was just glowing about it, huge grins all around. It was just too perfect the timing of it all. I didn't even know what he was doing at first - he and I were just standing there talking and he just stops mid sentence and grabs the phone, LOL.

Oh, I love these stories! We are making our first trip in just 3 weeks and I so hope my boys experience (well, and me too!) some pixie dust moments! I know they're not guaranteed (wouldn't be a pixie dust moment if it were), but I just can't wait!

I loved doing that! Seeing the looks on their faces was great! I loved being a CP (and can't wait to go back May 24)!

We had a wonderful experience our last day in WDW at the barber shop in MK. The barber was from Chicago our home town, he even graduated from the same high school I had. When DB16 was finished with the hair cut the barber spiked his hair with pixie dust and gave us stickers like little kids. He was able to pixie dust my DSIS and I, but Missed my Aunt. We left the shop and where halfway across the square when out of nowhere come a shower of Pixie dust. He had run after us showered us and ran back, laughing the whole way.The four of us spread pixie dust everywhere we went (the monorail, the rental car, the airplane home, the house.)
I just wish I could remember his name. I want him to give DD1 her first hair cut.

Here's a cute one that just happened to me about 10 minutes ago... I forgot to ask the CM at the front desk for a card from Mickey for our DD12 birthday this past January (I hoard it away and then surprise her with the card for her b-day which is this Monday - I'll be entering the dreaded teen years yippee LOL) anyways, I emailed Ginny at guest services. She is a real nice lady who I have dealt with over the last few yrs with special help for park merch, recipes etc. I told her my story and that I would totally pay for the card and to ship it to me. I just got her email saying that Mickey told her that he personally put it in the mail the other day. I know I'm a big dork, but I just started welling up with tears, you just got to LOVE Disney, they make you feel so special when they do a little thing that touches your heart, ya know what I mean?

Oh you guys, these stories are so great. I hope the CMs know how much magic and love they spread....just the smallest thing is so big for kids and adults alike! Thank you CMs!!!!!!!!!!

Here are a few of my stories...

We celebrated my bday at WDW last Feb., I turned 40. I had the birthday buttons but the day had gone by fairly uneventful. Lots of birthday wishes, which was great. One of the last things we did that day was go see Beauty and the Beast at MGM...it's one of my favorites. As we're entering "Luis" sees it's my birthday and like many of the cast members I'd seen through out the day, wished me a happy birthday. I said thank you, it's special because I'm now 40, I'm here with my little kids for the very first time and my DH and I are celebrating our honeymoon (married last Oct). He asked me if I could please wait and then used his walkie talkie and motioned for us to go down the the very front in VIP seating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was fantastic!! I have never sat so close. Unfortunetly, that night our camera was lost, never returned and all my great pictures were on it

Another story from the same trip....we had a pretty good week but we were exhausted. We decided to watch Wishes one last time but this time from behind the castle. We sat with the kids in our laps, no pushy crowds and enjoyed ourself. Having already learned the lesson of not rushing to the buses because of the crowds we took our time gathering our things, getting ready to leave the park. The CMs were rushing everyone out and we were one of the last families there, the music was playing, the stars were shining and DH stops and takes my hand and we danced. The CMs stopped rushing us out and we just danced in the almost empty street of Fantasyland while our kids watched us and clapped. It was very magical and very kind of the CMs to not push us out.

We had numerous other little things too....a birthday card and balloon from Cinderella and PC in my room for my bday. Helpful CMs in the foodcourts when my hands were full. Friendly CMs from all over the world willing to take the time to talk with us. Stickers given to cranky children from CMs who understood. Pixiedust in the barbershop. The list goes on and on!

I just had to contribute my small story which actually happened at Disneyland.

It was my birthday and I had a birthday sticker on (at DL they give you stickers instead of buttons and they personalize them with your name and age). We were waiting in a long line at the Alice in Worlderland ride (a personal favorite - no FP line) and a CM whowas just arriving for her shift noticed the hidden Mickey I have on my arm tattoo. Extremely few people notice it's there, and the ones who do are Disney nuts like me. She said "is that a hidden Mickey in there?" and I told her that indeed it was and she said "and it's your birthday too? come with me!"

So my partner and I followed her out of the line and she walked us to the front of the line, we boarded the vehicle and as she dispatched it she said "happy birthday David!" then she looked at my other half and said "and a marry unbirthday to you!"

It's a little things like this that separate Disney from all the others. And at 32 it's hard to be on the receiving end of that type of magic from the CMs.

Later that day, while walking around the candy store in Main Street, a CM saw my birthday sticker, called me over and handed me a Mickey Rice Krispy treat!

At California Adventure we went to what we dubed"The Tortilla Experience" which is a walk-through demonstration on how they make flour tortillas (silly, I know.) When you exit, everyone gets to eat one tortilla fresh out of the production line, but when the CM saw my birthday sticker, she gave me a whole package of them!

And every time I went through one of the turnstyles to enter either DL or California Adventure, the CM would say "happy birthday David!"

Here is mine from 2004. We are in Animal Kingdom, heading toward the Dinosaurs. DD8 and DW go into a washroom. They come out and we continue walking, 5 minutes go by and DD figures out she left Pal Mickey in the stall. We go racing back to retrieve him but he is gone. Cue the tear machine, she starts crying her eyes out. Well a maintenance CM Millie from the Bronx, comes by and asks what the problem is so we tell her what happened. She goes into the washroom and comes out without Pal Mickey. DD is still losing it. So she tells us to come with her and takes us into a store. She starts talking to the Manager of the store and then they disappear into a back room. 5 minutes later she comes out and asks when we had bought Pal Mickey, I still had the bill from buying him on Main Street the day before. She goes back into the back. We wait for about 5 more minutes and I decided I would buy her another if I had to. Millie and the manager come out and say they normally do not do this but they gave us a brand new Pal Mickey off the shelf. It was day 2 of our trip and had us hooked on Disney magic.

When we got home we did send an Email to Disney and related the story to them. As another poster said we were a little nervous doing so as we did not want them getting into trouble.

Oh have another one from our last trip (two weeks ago.)
We had just pulled out of POR on the bus when my mom remembered she hadn't taken her medication. This was at 8:25 in the morning. We decided to go straight back to the hotel once we got the MK. We asked the driver is she was going back to POR and she said no, she was going to Epcot but she asked us why. We told her we had to go back to POR. Well, the park wasn't even open yet. It was going to be a while before a bus came. She told us to wait on the bus, called her dispatcher and explained the situation and he gave her permission to take us back to POR. So we drove all the way back as the only ones on the bus. It meant a lot to us as my mom is elderly and needs her medicine.

With all our trips we've have lots of pixie dust spread to us... we truly love the CM's & they have the coolest jobs ever. When we went for my daughters 4th birthday a year ago we were in MGM. We had gone to Playhouse Disney live and got there REALLY early, probably an hour and a half until the next show. There were a few CM's hanging out front, we wanted to get into line early to get good seats but they hadn't even open the line yet. One CM saw my daughters bday button and they started talking. First she took her over to the little shop next to the show and they called Goofy to wish her a happy birthday. And then she told Julia to come back a half hour before the show and go to the back door. Someone will open the door and ask her for the secret password (she whispered it into Julia's ear and she wouldn't tell us what it was for anything!) and we would be the first ones in a get to choose where we wanted to sit. So that gave us an hour to go through the animation studio and I think it was the Incredibles we saw back there. It was nice and relaxing. Went back a half hour before the show and the line was already HUGE. The kids felt so special bypassing the line and going to the backdoor and it opened and Julia announced the password (I totally forget what it was!).... and we went in and got right up front. We were in there chatting with CM's for almost 10 minutes before they opened the doors to everyone else. Very cool!

Have had a couple of pixie dust moments. @WDW in 2004 at MNNSHP DS 4 was dressed as Buzz and we were going to go to Buzz's ride, but he was scared of the ride (kind of dark). A CM noticed us standing facing the line and came up to us and asked if Buzz was going to come and help defeat Zurg. My son told her he was too scared. She led us through the crowd and in the exit way and loaded us in from there (it's a bit lighter), and rode along with us a bit. DS was less afraid and now Buzz is one of his faves. Also in WDW we had an early ADR for CP breakfast before the MK was open. We were staying at the AKL and accidently got on the AK bus instead of MK bus. AK had early entry that morning. As soon as I realized my mistake, we tried going to wait for MK bus at AK, but none were coming and our ADR was fast approaching. Went up to a CM in the bus line and asked about next bus to MK. He was telling us there wouldn't be for a while since that park wasn't due to open til 9. Then he got on his radio, had us board a bus bound for CR and asked the driver to drop us off directly at the MK gate. We made it in time for our ADR and a little time to spare to get a pic. by the castle without the crowds. And a last moment at DL this past July, we were on Splash Mountain after waiting all day for FP time, DS so excited to ride this one, and were just about to go over the first fall, when the ride stopped. We were stuck there for about 20 minutes. The CMs were coming around, had to offload the entire ride. Apparently a duck flew too near the log sensors at the big drop and it shuts the ride down. Then it has to be reset. Well, DS lost it. Crying. A CM saw this and offerred us FP to come back as soon as the ride reset. Unfortunately, we were leaving for the day at that time and this was our last ride of the day. The CM then gave us FP to any ride we wanted to go on before leaving. Including Space Mountain. While we couldn't do any, the offer was still a wonderful gesture.
