Stop Spoiling Olympic Results!

Yes I wrote it in caps for a reason...I'M SHOUTING! Could everyone PLEASE stop putting the medal reults in the title or even the first few lines of the thread? It's ruining the Olympics for those of us who tape or TIVO the games. Remember that if you hover your cursor over the thread title, the first few lines of the thread pop up, so DON'T put the result in the first few lines (or make them in white letters so you have to highlight it to read it). PLEASE?

This also includes threads like:

Huge upset in ladies short-program tonight

or

Did you see what happened to So and So in the Super G

Those are also Spoilers even if they don't specifically mention results. If you'd like to discuss an event, simply start a thread about the event. In fact. ...I'm going to do a pre-emptive strike and start one right now for the ladies figure skate, to avoid any spoilers tomorrow. Anything that happens can go in there! Thank you!

Bump! Aside from recording them those of us on the West coast are a few hours behind.

It's the same as titling a thread "OMG can you believe Mufasa dies in the Lion King?!?!" (as an example since everyone here should know that).

I couldn't agree more. I just got home from a very long day and tivo'd the Olympics so I can watch when I get home earlier tomorrow. But I know already know how the ice dancing went. And that was what I really wanted to watch. Please stop spoiling it for us. If I wanted to find out how the games went without watching, I could do a search and find it. It doesn't need to be in the title or in the first lines of the thread. Im not saying to not post things. Just saying to be considerate to those who dont wish to be spoiled. TIA

I know! I was so mad that someone spoiled the Ice dancing tonight. I was sitting watching with my DD and during the commercial I came to the CB just to check something and BOOM I was spoiled right in the title. Make matters worse the poster spoiled and then disappeared so it still sits there. What's the point in doing that?

The Ice Dancing is still airing here on the West Coast and now I already know the results. Ugh! I wish people would put spoiler in the title.

True! I tivo the ice dancing last night and before watching it, i came here to check on something, and on the very top there it was the results and all about the accidents. Please don't do it.

I had the opposite problem today. I tried to get the results earlier in the afternoon and couldn't find any. How many hours time difference (ET)? I actually had to watch the skating to get the results...well I guess I could have logged on to the DIS boards ....but I didn't want them right before I could see them skate on NBC...rather when they skated live in Turino. Did anyone find live radio?

CA is 3-4 hours behind (depending if any posters are on the Eastern seabord of Canada). HI is 3 (or is it 4) hours behind CA.

I just have to say I agree. Even when you watch the news they tell you when tthey are going to talk about the Olympics and give you time to turn it off.

I don't record them but watch in the evening on NBC, I think they are about 7 hours ahead of us.

if you run the mouse over the title all you see is periods
you have to click to see results if there is another ice dancing thread that gives anything away i havent seen it
the other thread i saw talks about the original dance not the free so there were no final results

I hate to take the dissenting view here, but if you don't want to know the results of something before you get to watch it then don't read a discussion board with a reputation for spoilers. Go read a trip report or something LOL

Why should we have to LEAVE the Community Board? How about if posters just excercise a little caution in the posting? They can still post, just don't ruin it for everyone.

I believe the title of my thread was "Mens Results - Major Spoiler." Now, why would one run their cursor over a thread title that was labeled "major spoiler" and then cliam that the results were ruined for them because they didn't want to know?

guilty conscience? I started this thread because of goofysk8's thread that announced the results of the ice DANCING competition...so relax. HOWEVER, just by putting the word "MAJOR" SPOILER in the title of your thread I automatically assumed that something tremendously amazing or upsetting had happened (like a fall or an upset of one of the favorites). I was surprised that night to see that nothing unusual had happened (unless you count Weir, not performing so well), particularly after having seen that your title alluded to something MAJOR. I never read your thread, only saw the title.

Just like with Survivor or the Amazing Race...spoilers should be well documented so that those who have not seen the show or results in this case don't accidently happen upon them. Most of us don't want to see the results of the games until they are shown on NBC.
