Stop Making Me Laugh Or I'll Pee My Pants! Go Back! I Lost My Shoe! Trip Report!

Just started reading your TR tonight...incredible! BTW, hello from elk filled Harrison, AR...LOL! We do have them...I've never seen any on the highways, etc. but there is a place not far from where I work you can watch them early in the morning.

We also love Silver Dollar City! I wish fire in the hole was half as good as BTM, but it does help a little when you're waiting for your Disney fix! Can't wait to read more....keep it coming!

Great Update, I love Typhoon Lagoon! I hope to go there next time, I really want to try that Crush N Gusher! That's great you didn't lose as much info as you thought, that would have been a nightmare!

I finally made my trip reservations! I have been waiting for a long time. We started preliminary plans for the trip last April but it was supposed to be a big family trip and somehow it all came apart with people backing out, I told DH back then if everyone backs out we are still going! So we have been talking about it and I finally pinned him down to a resort choice (I let him choose since it will be his B-day and only his 2nd trip and I have been many times) Although I hoped for CBR! ;)

We are going May 2nd to 9th with the $500 gift card deal at POR! Requested the Magnolia bend section. Can't Wait! I don't know if I'll do a PTR or TR since I am not much of a writer but will prob do mini ones/reviews, etc.

Can't wait!!

We didn't see any here in Ft. Lauderdale :sad1: (maybe tomorrow!), but my friends in Orlando did! Here's a link to a story one of the newstations did on it...

Thanks for the link. WOW! I guess I just never thought about snow going so far south. But with the temps being the way they are, I'd just about believe it. Living in the south, I've never seen lakes ice over, but the lake behind our house has been frozen for almost four days now. It should thaw soon, however, because our temps are slowly creeping back up. During the day anyways.

Absolutely hooray for you. That could have been a major catastrophe. Have a great weekend.

I'm glad that it wasn't a major catastrophe like we thought it was going to be! I'm sorry to hear that your weekend was a sad one. You know that we love you and are praying for you and your family.

I'm glad you got everything figured out, Lisa - now you can relax and enjoy your weekend! Have a good one!

Believe me, it was a relief to know we weren't looking at such a big job after all!

Hey Lisa, sorry I haven't posted in so long :guilty:. Confession time, I laughed when I saw the pictures of the water park day, but I was not laughing at them, I was laughing with them. As usual, it looks like ya'll were having so much fun. We went to TL on our 2008 trip and poor Dallas tore his knees up in the wave pool. The wave pool and the lazy river were the only two things Dallas, Amanda and I did. Dale and Tyler found some other things to do. It was my first time at the water park and I had NO clue there was so much to do there. Once I found out, it was almost time for the park to close :sad2:.
I would love to rent a surrey bike, but I don't know if Disney has enough Crisco to get Dale on and off of one :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:. Can three people ride them? Or do you have to have an even number?

I can't wait for you to start you PTR for May .

Hey Dana! If I didn't want ya'll to laugh at me, I wouldn't have posted the pictures. I knew that they were laugh material.:lmao:

I hate that ya'll missed so much at Typhoon Lagoon. This was just the second time that all of us had gone and we had so much fun.

You're too funny....Crisco to get Dale on and off the seats. Actually, three people can ride the surrey bikes. Hunter didn't pedal half the time we were on the bike so I did the pedaling for that side of the bike.

I'm about to start my pre-trip report now. I started to do it this morning and then got busy doing my real work. I hate it when real work competes with my Dis work.:rolleyes1

Believe it or not over the last few nights I have read all 178 pages!!!

Loving your report. Your family are lovely and I am really enjoying your adventure.

Going to head over to your pre trippie.

Hey there! Man oh man, you had some reading to do didn't you!

My family is a hoot! We really enjoy spending time together and cherish every moment of it. Especially since Lacey is away at college now.

Well hello there! I'm glad that you've come aboard. I wish I could have seen an elk when we traveled through your part of Arkansas. Please forgive me but Harrison isn't our favorite place to visit. Why? you ask. Because two years in a row, we were in Harrison and something happened to our car. First year, our brakes started grinding and we had to have them replaced. The second year, our tire had something wrong with it and we had to have it replaced. Thus, we are AFRAID of Harrison!:rotfl:

We had a good time at Silver Dollar City but it just wasn't the same as Disney.

 Oh my! Those poor people who traveled to Orlando to get away from the cold weather!

:yay::yay::yay: for making your trip reservations! I bet you are just about to burst at the seams. I love that feeling I get when I've booked another trip.

I'm not trying to put a kink in your plans but did you price out the vacation using the room only promo that Disney has out right now? You get the room discounts and you can add tickets and dining. It saved us over $100.00 more than the gift card promo.

The weather this year has been crazy weird. I remember when we went to Disney during Thanksgiving in 2000. One day the temperature was mid-70s and then a cold front came through and the next day the high was mid-30s. Needless to say, that trip, we came away with souvenir sweatshirts.

Hey everybody! Just wanted ya'll to know that I've started my pre-trip report.

I decided to go with Over the River and Through the Woods to Mickey's House We Go! And Grandma's in Tow!

Here's the link if you want to come over for a read: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=34969201#post34969201

Meanwhile, I've been uploading my pictures AGAIN to another one of my photobucket accounts. I swear, it seems like I just get them organized and I get the alert from photobucket that my bandwidth is about to be exceeded. Anyway, I'm working on another surrey bike installment.

I priced it out without the dining plan and it was less but if you count the gift card I think it was only $20 or $30 difference. With the dining plan and no gift card it evened out. I think with the Value Resorts and the Deluxe, the difference ended up being more and it was better to have the room discount.

Sounds like you did your homework!

You'll recall that when I last left off on my trip report, we had rented a surrey bike and were riding around the Caribbean Beach Resort promenade. Lacey and Hunter were ringing the surrey bike bell like it was going out of style and we were having a high ole' time. It was sprinkling just a little bit but we weren't going to let that stop us.

On with the bike ride!

Up ahead, we could see the bridge that crossed the middle of the lake, through the island and over to the main pool:

DSCN1830.jpg

When we got to this point, we could see that the promenade had a pretty steep hill that we had to go up. So, I snapped this picture

DSCN1831.jpg

and then we started pedaling with everything we had. Of course, we laughed so hard that we barely made it to the top.

DSCN1832.jpg

The buildings in the above picture are in Trinidad South which is where the pirate rooms are located. I took this looking left as we were on the top of the big hill:

DSCN1833.jpg

Honestly, we were glad to take a little break on the top of that hill. We were a bit winded by that time. It didn't help that we had laughed the whole way up. Now, you all know that, most times, when you go up a steep hill, you have to go down a steep hill. Lacey looked down the steep hill and turned to us and said "nobody pedal, we're coasting all the way down".

By now, you guys know that John is a jokester. He loves to pester the fire out of our kids. So, you guessed it, as soon as we started going down the hill, he started pedaling as fast as he could. Lacey was yelling "Stop! Stop! Daddy, stop pedaling!" All the while, she's trying to put the hand brake on and control the bike at the same time. The pedals are spinning out of control because we're going pretty fast. Hunter and Lacey are holding their feet straight out. My flip flop gets hit by a pedal and, literally, flies over my shoulder and out the back of the surrey bike. I yell "Go Back! I Lost My Shoe!". By this time, we are all laughing so hard we are crying. I'm telling them to stop so I can go back and get my shoe. It was the funniest thing ever.

Lacey finally got the bike stopped and I hopped off to get my shoe. What did my loyal family do? They started pedaling off. Dumb bunnies! I recovered my senses enough to take this picture:

DSCN1834.jpg

And this one:

DSCN1835.jpg

I ran ahead and caught up with the runaway surrey bike. Every time I would get close, they'd slowly move up some more.

The culprits:

***Need to stop here. I've got the Clerk's Office on the phone.

Continued:

I finally get my goofnut family to stop and let me on the bike and we were off again.

DSCN1838.jpg

As we were approaching the main pool, we started wondering if we were going the right way. You see, the last time we rented a surrey bike, the main pool was small and the promenade was different. Now, we would be riding around the main pool and right into the sitting area beside the pool. We looked to the right of the pool and there was no pathway. We'd be riding right in the middle of the parking lot. John told us to chance it and ride on the parking lot. We told him we couldn't do that and he said we were wimps and should break the rules every once in a while.:sad2:

We kept following the promenade around the pool. I tried to take pictures of the hot tub and pool but didn't get any real good pictures. We were on the lookout for pedestrians. We didn't want to run over anybody!

Once we got around the corner of the promenade, we were in the sitting/bar area outside of Old Port Royale so we tried to be our normal subdued selves. :lmao: Yeah right! Seriously, we toned it down until we got to an area where we were virtually by ourselves again.

We had rented the bike for 30 minutes and we still had about 15 minutes left. For you folks out there wondering how long it takes to go around the Caribbean Beach Resort promenade on a surrey bike....about 15 minutes.

Still having more time on our rental, we started around the resort again. We saw this little bunny munching on the green grass:

DSCN1843.jpg

Because I had already taken a bunch of pictures when we rode around the first time, I didn't take but one on our way back around (with the exception of the bunny picture):

DSCN1844.jpg

Hunter was too young to drive but when we got to the wooded area, we stopped and let him have a go. He was a little nervous that we would get caught but we kept an eye out for the lifeguards who were patroling the lake. I told John....."see we break rules!":rotfl2:

When we got to the end of the wooded part, Lacey got back in the driver's seat and we continued on our leisurely ride. At one point, we noticed that Lacey was starting to go towards the left and wondered what she was doing. Silly girl pulled into one of the little parking lane things for the castmembers. :sad2:

Once we saw that hill coming up, we knew we'd have to pedal hard so we started a little earlier than before. Did it do us any good? Heck no! Why? 'Cause we got one of those fits of giggles that wouldn't stop. We were almost to the top of the hill when we just couldn't go any more. John and I had our feet on the ground and were walking us up the hill. I looked up and here comes a Disney bus. We started talking about how all those people on the bus were probably pointing at us and laughing because we were "Flintstoning" our way up the hill. I couldn't stop laughing which made me tell them all to "stop making me laugh or I'll pee my pants!" again.

Lacey warned her daddy not to pedal down the hill this time. We were going to do a nice little coast down. Not! Even though we weren't pedaling, we still went down fast.

Once again, we hugged the wall around the main pool as tightly as we could so we wouldn't run over any other guests. Then, as we reached the walkway to the marina, we saw that our 30 minutes had just expired.

I took these pictures as I waited on John to turn the bike in.

Sounds like a fun bike ride! You had me laughing out loud again about your shoe flying over your head.:rotfl: I'll try to check out your pre trip in a bit I'm trying to get caught up with all my subs.

Have you ever seen that comercial. I think it's for some kind of beef jerky when they are slwoing down in the car and asking the Bigfoot if he wants some jerky and then when he comes uo, they speed up. Thats what I was thinking of when you told you story. It cracks me up! :rotfl:

All I saw was a brown flip flop whizzing by my head!

I have seen those commercials. Love them all. Here's the link to the Messin With Sasquatch website: http://www.messinwithsasquatch.com/

Click on View Commercials and then the year 2007 and you can see the commercial you are talking about.

That is SOOO what my family would do!!! Too funny - great update! We might just have to try a surrey bike in June!

You definitely need to rent a surrey bike. It was so much fun!

sounds like u guys had a wicked time with the surrey bike:goodvibes

We did have an awesome time!

The bike story is so funny!! And now we know what the "I lost my shoe" part is about!!LOL

That flip flop came flying over my shoulder like a bullet. I can't believe it didn't hit me!

I know that all the people on the bus were laughing at us. Heck, I would have been laughing at us too. If we could have just stopped giggling for a minute, we'd have made it up the hill.
