What's the difference? My daughter at the time of cruise will be 8 years. She wants to see the stingrays. My husband and her will go on the Stingray city Snorkling & discover Cayman tour. My son will be 19 months so he can't go on the boat. He and I will do the Grand Cayman Island tour. Does anyone know about the stingray city? How deep is the water? Can my daughter stand or will she have to snorkel? What if she gets scared? Can she stay in the boat for the hour they are there? We are planning to meet after our excursions and head out to the beach via taxi. Anyone out there gone to the beach on their own?
Thanks

I see now that I am not alone in being obsessed with thinking
about and planning my next disney vacation. We are going on the Jan. 26, 2003 4 night Wonder for our first cruise!!! and I can't stop thinking about it and writing down all the tidbits everyone here suggests. I'm a little nervous about seasickness, because I get it bad, but I've seen such good advice. I'm wondering who else will be on the same ship. I have four kids.
And I would love to hear from anyone who has been in January (sea, weather, crowds, kids)--I even think it may be during the
scheduled Super Bowl (so I'm hoping my 15 year old boy will find
other sports fans). Anyway, you all sound just like me, I can't believe it! (ooops. hubby just came home and well, here i am . . .)

We went to Stingray City about 6 years ago. There were a number of children your daughters age and even younger. I think they all ended up in the water, and most had a great time. I know DH and I did. The water depth where we stopped was about 4 feet deep on average. Your DD can certainly stay in the boat if she wants. Have FUN!

Stingray city and stingray sandbar are the same place. Sandbar actually better describes the place. I could stand there in some places with my head and shoulders out of the water, I'm 5'2". If your husband goes in the water with your daughter, he can guide her to a shallow spot for her to stand. I wouldn't expect to her go in without him and if she's scared, he's right there. It is an awesome sight and the rays will pushed right up against you. Kind of like a dog does when he wants your attention. And you can stay on the boat, my hubby and son stayed on.

Can your 19 month old go on the Cayman Island tour? There were prices for children ages 3-9. Are the younger ones free? He would enjoy the turtle farm, but Hell is just a tourist trap. Plus it includes several rides on a bus. Just wondering if he would really enjoy it? Meeting for some beach times after sounds great. Lots of taxis, be careful, they drive on the left in the Caymans. My friends went to a hotel's beach that their taxi driver recommended and had the best time, now if I could only remember the hotel's name....

Hi!
The Stingray city tour is a must if you are in the Caymans. My daughter was 6 yrs. old at the time, and she was somewhat hesitant to get into the water with the rays. However, once she saw how many people were in the water (with smiles on their faces at being so close to these amazing creatures) she jumped in. She just kind of held onto our arms as we floated/walked around in the water (everyone wears snorkel gear and a life vest). If your daughter does get tired, she can easily get back on the boat and watch. Also, make sure that your husband takes an underwater (disposable type) camera with him. He will return with great pictures!

Anywhere on 7 mile beach is beautiful. The sand is powder soft (with great snorkeling) by the Westin hotel.

Have a wonderful time!
