Still Sassy after all this time!

Happy Hunk Day!! Here's a little pic to get us going:

It's been really quiet around here! Guess everybody is busy getting back into their school year routines.

I was rear ended at a stoplight on the way home last week. Not much damage (at least to my SUV) and no injuries. The lady said she just wasn't paying attention and didn't notice I was stopped for the red light. At least she was honest and claimed full responsibility. Her car didn't fair as well as mine though. Car vs SUV = SUV wins.

Has anyone heard of Penzey's spices? I read about it online and discovered we have a store here. We went to it last weekend. It was fun!! They have every kind of spice available, and they are all top quality. So I stocked up on all my baking spices for the holiday season. :thumbsup2

Have a great day Sassies! :flower3:

Hi Sassies! Wow, its been quiet here. I've been so busy since getting back from vacation. It was our best vacation to Disney yet, although the family that went with us can't say the same thing.:rolleyes1 Getting back into the school routine is proving a bit challenging this year for some reason! I'll be back when I have more time to post and read back.

Angie, glad you are ok! I am honestly shocked that someone would admit fault at the scene. Seems like that sort of decent behavior is rare these days... Haven't heard of Penzey's but I'll check it out to see if there is one around here.

Bex! Welcome home! Can't wait to hear what made it so magical for you, and UN-magical for the other family! I'm guessing... the Disney Stomach Bug? Lost tickets? Over-wrought children?

Hello Sassies!

Becca I'm looking forward to hearing all about your trip.So sorry your friends didn't have a magical time.
I'm sitting here trying to decide what I feel like cooking for dinner tonight. I'm just tired of the same old things.

Well it's officially fall now but not around here. Still very hot in the 90's. Maybe soon though.:confused3

Angie glad to hear you weren't hurt. That store does sound like one I would enjoy but I've never heard of it either.

Hi Everyone!!!
Welcome back Becca! Anxious to hear your Trip Report!

Today is my Labor Day. Our classes are in session on labor day and the librarians have to work, so I am taking my Holiday today! I am vacuuming and light cleaning then heading to shop for furniture...

Our visit with the little boy went really well and next will be a whole day visit -- hopefully this weekend. If that goes well, next will be an overnight...

Have a HUMPY day!!!!

Glad to hear your meeting with the little guy went well Julie! How wonderful! I love that you're celebrating "Faux Labor Day!":rotfl:

Tricia, not very Autumn-ish here either. Just mowed the lawn & am fairly certain I lost 2 lbs of water and got a sunburned neck!

Nope-no fall here either. Today we're going to be 97. But it's getting into the low 70's at night, so the nice cool nights and mornings make it so much easier to deal with. :thumbsup2

Julie it's good to hear that the visit went well. I hope you get the little boy again this weekend and everything goes your way. Good luck.

I guess if I were a duck I'd be very happy right about now. It's been raining for three days and is forecast to rain through the weekend. Enough already!!

Angie, we aren't in the 70's at night yet. Still in the 80's but at least I know there's an end in sight.

Shannon I could use losing two pounds of water weight but I don't want to cut the grass. :rotfl:

Good morning, Sassies! I have been brought back to Sassyland courtesy of Shannon's APB. The school year start has been tremendously busy. My kids are doing fine in their schools, just the usual homework stuff. They are trying to get ahead on some things for when we go on our cruise in October, so that's been challenging. But the thing that has kept me busiest is my own classes - lots of kids with problems, I am working with two brand new teachers, and I have a mountain of parents in need of extracurricular hand holding. It's exhausting. I've really wanted to spend some time DISing lately, especially to get my excited for the trip, but I usually conk out by the time I get the boys home from swim practice. Sorry - I will try to be more Sassy in the future!

I hear there may be a new sassy child around here? Congratulations, Julie! I hope it all goes well. What a great gift to give to a child.:littleangel:

Becca - I want trip details! How are the boys doing in school?

Shannon - 11am is not too early for wine, it's just too early to let people know you are drinking it.;-) There is a difference, you know! How is life with your middle schooler?

Judi - How are things with Cole, Mr. Judi and your mom?

Tricia -I'm with you on the rain. It's been raining for 2 days straight here and we have a sleepover scheduled tonight for BamBam with a kid who is a bit of a heck-raiser. I was planning on lots of outside time but I am going to have to find a plan B. Any ideas?

Heather - How are things with Joey? Are you happy with your decision?

Bonnie - How is your class? Good kids?

Hi to all of the rest of my sassy friends. I've got to go read back further and see what I missed!

Good morning, Sassies! It's Monday and time for my (so far!) favorite class of cute little people. They only come once a week and in some cases are still sporting the toddler wobbly walk. It's adorable!

Angie - I forgot to congratulate you on your trip! Yeah F and W! Where do you think you are going to stay?

Today is Yom Kippur and Mr. FofP is staying home and fasting. Mr. FofP is generally not a fan of going without food, so this always makes for a fun day. Oh joy.

Have a great day, everyone!

Yay-a Wilma sighting!!! Less than 3 weeks 'til your cruise!! :cool1: Time to start getting excited! We're probably going to rent points at BCV for F&W next year, even though I really want to stay at AKV. But BCV is just too convenient for F&W. I hope things calm down for you at work soon.

Happy Day of Atonement to Mr. FoP! Do people actually wish others a Happy Yom Kippur? I read that some people don't drink water today, as well as fast. Is Mr. FoP doing that, too? I could never make it a whole day without food and water-what a shame 'cuz I could definitely stand to skip a few meals! ;)

Have a great day!

Happy Monday Sassies!

I'm off to Sams in just a few minutes. Colin really wants Rock Band(Wii) for Christmas and our Sams has it. At least they had it last week when I was there. Why didn't I get it then you might be thinking? :confused3 Good question and one I don't really have an answer to. Maybe I just wanted to make another trip back because I enjoy that store so much. Anyway, I know that's not something that's going to go on sale and it's killing me that I haven't really starting my Christmas shopping yet so :santa: today's the day! Anyone need anything while I'm out????????

Happy Monday Sassies!
I have started watching 3 more kids so now I have 5 most of the day. That wouldn't be bad, but one is 3, one is 2, 2 are 20 months and one is just a year. Most days I don't know where my head is!

Angie and Wilma, you're cruises are so close! Are you both getting excited?

Angie, they have that spice store in Grand Rapids, I may have to check it out. Glad you weren't injured in your rear ending accident!

Tricia, I need shredded cheese, toilet paper, paper towels and kleenex from Sam's. Why do the paper products all run out at the same time? I bought the kids Toy Story Mania for wii, it was supposed to be for Christmas, but I coudn't wait and gave it to them last night. It is so fun!

Shannon, it sounds like you had a great time camping and lots of fun adventures!

Julie, glad the visit went well and have my fingers crossed for you that it works out. How exciting!

Bonnie, what's new?

Judi, sending out a search team.

Good Morning

Mom was able to handle another surgery. She is doing great. So, yes you can live without a pancreas and spleen. Nodes are clear.

She had the surgery on Aug. 25th and I bought her home on Sept. 4th. As soon as we get this insulin straight, she can go to her own house, as I am sure she is sick of my cooking by now. :teeth:

:hug:Judi, that is good news. I am amazed at her strength, but I am astonished at yours. If one can live without a pancreas, why don't doctors remove them from more pancreatic cancer patients?:confused3I'm sure it isn't that easy.

Judi that's great news about your mom. How are you and the whole Judi family doing?

Kendall got her braces off today! There's one very happy girl in the house right now. :yay: She can't seem to stop smiling.

Good morning Sassies! It looks like this thread needs a little bump:hyper2: to get it moving again.

I hope you all had a very good weekend. Colin had a baseball game on Saturday and we just barely squeaked out a win. Yesterday it rained all day and this morning we woke up to the same. I had a day of errands to do but I don't like being out in the rain. I guess I'll just play catch up on :laundy: instead.

Becca, to answer your question, when pancreatic cancer is found it has usually gone to stage 4, sperad to other organs. So far Mom's has not. Well we can rule out a pancreatic spread now. Cancer cells still in the body :confused3

Mom is the first patient with no pancreas that our GP has treated as well as a first for the oncologist. I have kinda been given an open door to handling the insulin and pancreatic enzymes she needs. Now that should scare yall to death. This healthy meal planning and cooking is oh so fun;)

Tricia, I am hanging my head in shame, I have not started my Christmas shopping yet. :santa:

New baby, boyfriends, cruises, How exciting for everyone!

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Morning Sassies!

Judi, so glad to hear your mom is recovering well from her surgery. You honestly deserve that halo this year!

Bex, tell us about your trip! (When you can tear yourself away from the gaggle of kids, that is!;)) What made it your best trip yet?

Tricia, congrats on Kendall's braces coming off. More money for Christmas presents!:thumbsup2 (I've only bought one thing so far. Bad, bad me!)

Hey Cruisers! Are you getting excited yet? Angus, are you still nervous about leaving the dogs with MIL? Wilma, are the boys pumped up?

Riley has been home sick the past two days... Chest cold, so hopefully he'll be better tomorrow. I've been taking advantage of nicer weather to do more yard work. Cut down two sick trees in back yard, have to have stumps removed, then we'll plant something else. I planted all of my bulbs yesterday. Can't wait for spring!

We have a houseguest coming for an extended period of time (end date unknown). He is one of Ryan's best friends, and actually lived with us for 9 months when Riley was a baby. This is the guy whose wedding we flew out to in Monterey last October. Let's just say that his first year of marriage has not been great. His graphic design business went under, he lost his other job, and they almost foreclosed on their house (his wife is an Optometrist, still has good job thank goodness.) Then, just as he was headed up here for interviews (they live in Ft. Lauderdale, NO jobs down there right now) his wife was almost killed in a car accident. She ended up making a miraculous recovery (took out her spleen, and she still has some shattered vertebrae, but otherwise will be fine). Anyway, he got a job with Microsoft here in D.C., & we're going to let him stay in our basement guest room for just a small amount of money, so hopefully they can catch up & get back on track. He'll commute to Florida most weekends I'm sure.

We're either really nice, or REALLY crazy. :rolleyes1
