even though we got a call from the closing company that we will be closing by the end of the week (that was last week!!)

Well, I called yesterday to see when it closed and how soon can I bank and/or make reservations (looking more at banking....deadline end of this month!!). WEll, I was told it did not close!!! AGAIN................

Now we continue to wait.....the woman said I should be able to make reservations by next week!! HUH!! I told her that if I lose my banking deadline I will not be happy.

DH is not happy and says we will pull out if it doesn't close like that said this time by next week!!

Can you tell I am frustrated!!:p
BTW, original closing date was suppose to be Oct. 16!!

It's things like this that make some of us choose to buy from Disney after attempting to get a deal "out there." Yesterday I got a call from a timeshare broker whom we probably had contacted when we were in the resale buying stage. When I told him that we did buy, and it was direct from Disney, he said that was too bad, he could have saved us money. I really just rolled my eyes  and told him "Thanks and goodbye."

If you got a good buy, and things are reputable, I would try to just wait. Banking is only for 1 year, and DVC is for a long time. People have success renting points, perhaps you can be making a "plan B" to use your time (and points) while waiting for the closing. It would beat fretting over what will come in it's time.

Sounds very frustrating.

Can't they ask the seller to bank for you? I am not sure as I have never bought resale but I would think it is possible so you are assured of not losing out.

Good luck
Sandy

Have the seller bank the points is a great idea.

What is the reason from closing company for not closing?
Does your contract have a clause stating the contract must close by a certain date? If so, use that to pressure the closing company, broker and seller. They will all lose money if you pull out now. Of course you don't wont to pull out but I had the same issue and was able to use it to my advantage.

My resale also took forever to close. I wasn't in any rush - the contract was pretty stripped and we weren't going to be traveling for another eighteen months, but it was still fustrating. The seller forgot to have something notarized, so that had to be redone. And then it just seemed to take forever.

I can't believe what you are going through.

The delays do seem strange.

Please let us know what you end up doing.

What resort were you buying at?

And I thought we went thru a traumatic closing process...
Ours was a piece of cake compared to what you are going thru.
We finally got our letter from Member Accounting but nothing else from DVC and still no sign of our deed...

Hang in there...

The only reason we are hanging on still is that it complements our original purchase. Same "home" (OKW) and same use year (June)!!!

We are now considering BCV and yes, through Disney!!

We bought our first contract thru resale because we wanted OKW......now we still want OKW but are willing to change!!! and go directly thru Disney if it doesn't close by the end of next week.

I am not sure about legalities of it, but I will look through the contract. The closing company is blaming the seller!!! Different, but similiar, excuse each time I call!??! I told the closing company I wanted a phone call immediately once the contract has closed!!! (I am not waiting by the phone!!)

Also, keep in mind that it will take a week before Disney updates their records on the transfer post close. We closed our resale on Monday and, as of today, MS has no idea who I am. I am hoping this will be sorted out on Monday as we are trying to book a last minute trip. Good luck.

I recently closed resale. The seller asked the broker if I wanted him to bank the points. I needed the points for a ressie. I didn't want him to bank the points. In fact I put it in the contract not to bank the points. You can specify how you want the points.

Sorry for your delay in closing. I have to say I don't regret buying resale. Ours went very smoothly done in four weeks and 2 days after closing I was able to make a ressie. I guess I was fortunate to have a seller who was as anxious as me! The broker took care of banking our 2003 points into 2004 because the banking deadline was to take place in the six week time frame that it usually takes to go through the whole process. I don't blame you for wanting to back out if you can't bank the points. Maybe the seller is taking his/her time returning their papers. Maybe call and ask the broker if there is some way they can bank the points for you. Best of luck! Don't give up!
