Okay, so I'm seeing many posts from people that seem to think Disney is losing its value and that Disney doesn't offer us anything for our loyalty. I am here to say that I still love my DVC, am amazed by the value it has proven to be, and I appreciate the discounts they offer. Over the life of my contract with dues and everything I will have paid $7 - 8 a point per year. What this gets me are great accomodations at a fraction of the price of rack rate.

In addition, Disney offers an AP discount regularly, the chance to purchase the TIW card, MNSSHP and MVMCP discount tickets, and various discounts at restaurants all over property. These are similar to the discounts offered to Florida residents. Also, the PAP discount offered last year was phenomenal and my friend who lives in Florida is completely jealous.

I'm okay with no Free Dining, because who would want to pay rack rate at a Disney resort when you have DVC. I know others have issues with DVC, but I'm still happy with my purchase. All they have to give us for our points is the room. The discounts they offer are a complete bonus. I know they offer them to entice us back more, and it's working. So no complaints from this incredibly happy DVC owner.

Some people want it all - a great value plus more on top of it, they are never happy. I'm happy! I just stayed at BLT in a studio for 105 points for 5 nights vs $2900 rack rate. Bought the $399 PAP.

I love my DVC!

I love:cloud9:staying deluxe but would never pay the price to stay deluxe!

But staying in 1bdrms really add so much magic to the trip. Being able to walk to MK from BLT and Epcot and DHS from BW or Bc is priceless.

I love just hopping on the monorail after wishes and being home in 7 minutes....no waiting for buses!! Or walking home after Illuminations.

Being able to stay at different resorts and having a resort in Hawaii and Vero Beach is awesome.

Being able to rent different size accommodations, being able to go when you want and for how long you want. Getting discounts at lots of restaurants and stores in the parks.....

Did I mention staying deluxe for under $200 a night.....And now that I'm a FL resident I get the best of the world......between the FL res discount and DVC my entire week long trip Of 2 nts at BLT in Studio, 5 nights in 1 bdrm @BCV, 4 day park tickets for 4, 1 day at SEAWORLD, food all week ( I did cook in a few nights though) the entire cost was $1800. Wow! That's a value in my book!:cheer2:

We have been to Disney many times but never stayed on property till a few years ago. We stayed at the BCV and my husband and I loved it so much we bought in at the BCV now we stay in deluxe rooms . We usually stay from 5-7 nights and we priced it for just the room itself would be near $5,000 if not $5,000 or over. We love it and I will be adding on as soon as I can.

Yup, we're staying this December for 16 studio nights, splitting at AKV and BCV. If we were to pay 30% discounted rates, we are looking at $5000+. Even if we rented DVC at $11-$12 a point, we're looking at about $2000. But with dvc resale our cost plus 2013 mf is about $1000.

DVC has great value to both guests and Disney. Just expectations have to be reasonable on both sides.

And, some people are just never happy, and even if they do "have it all", will still find something to complain about.

I love my DVC and am looking forward to enjoying it for many years to come.

i just need to put my thoughts in too. I purchased over 7 years ago and dont regret it at all. i love, love, LOVE Disney (mainly WDW) and when I became pregnant with kiddo #1 so many people said "there goes all of your traveling and trips to WDW" Challenge accepted!!! I purchased DVC when kiddo #1 turned 1 and its owning DVC is what has kept us going year after year after year. The memories made on those yearly "momma and the boys" trips have made it worth it no matter what I've paid.

Zero regrets

I also love my DVC!!! Been owners for 8 years and have no regrets! I don't care about Free Dining as it is way too much food for us and we find that paying rack rate with Free Dining is not even close to the value of DVC with AAA (we get 3 1/2 trips out of them)10 day no exp. plus tickets combined with TiW card.

Woohoo!

Love our DVC! I think most people that complain about not getting "free dining" and discounts had no idea what they were purchasing. They took the word "club" a little too literally. They think they are entitled to extra discounts because they are "club" members. They are already getting a deeply discounted room and then want extra incentives. I look at it like going to a restaurant with multiple discounts. Generally restaurants will only allow you to take advantage of one offer at a time. In this case, your DVC purchase was your one offer.

Having said all that, I am not extremely happy with the way DVD has been devaluing our contracts in terms of resale, but I understood that risk when I purchased and as of right now we have no intention of selling.

We are happy! We've added on many times in our nearly 10 years of ownership. This time has gone so fast. Now DH is retired, we love cruising, I mentioned maybe we could rent some points or use points for cruising, DH said we really don't have enough points to do either. Our family loves HH & VB so very much. We live far away from our DGC, but DVC has helped our extended family enjoy many many days of quality time together!

I have to say that our Cape May NJ house (we own 1/2, with DSis) has given our family much the same sort of experiences. We have much loved family members who dislike Disney, so our DVC points actually go further since we are fortunate to have both!

Bobbi:goodvibes

Yep happy owner here as well. If anything DVC has ruined any trips anywhere else because when I look at the costs of a room for a week at the beach or the costs of a cruise I cringe. Between the large family trips and the savings on the Annual pass we feel that our money was well spent 12 years ago when we bought in. As far the the DDP goes, we would much rather utilize the TIW. I realize that some perks have come and some perks have gone and that nothing is guaranteed except a room at my home resort if I book in the appropriate time frame but for us it has been well worth it.

I'm still thrilled with DVC! I agree, expectations need to be reasonable. I didn't buy into DVC for discounts, i purchased because i like staying onsite in deluxe accommodations and for the ability to book the size accommodations I need without having to worry about whether there will be general public discount offered during the time we want to travel. We have so many happy memories of the time we've spent together with both our immediate and extended family. Only regret is that I didn't buy more points!

IF you purchased AKV or earlier then yes, it is a value.
IF you purchased after that then no it is no longer a value.
Escpecially when one will pay around 200.00 for a single point of
Grand Floridian. IF anyone argues that 200.00 a point is a value, they are crazy. As a non dvc member can still get 30% off most of the year of rack rates at a deluxe, complete with major refurbs rather than minor ones we've been given as DVC members, a discount that will always stay around because resorts are not completely filled every day of the year even in a awesome performing economy.

Dare you honestly say that at 200.00 a point it is still a value?
And dont say it will never sell at that price, with 3 increases this year alone it will be at 200.00 or just shy of that when Grand FLoridian does finally go on sale. And then when the Poly converts it will prob go over 200.00/point.

THis is when we realized with our DVC disney has so to say brainwashed my family, and probably most of you owners.
Just 2 months ago we took our first outside Disney trip in over 11 years and I have to say that I really miss doing other things than disney all the time.
It was a vacation to Ireland and since then I question whether or not we want to keep our DVC anymore or sell it to explore the world cause there are so many more places to explore that put Disneu to shame and opens our kids eyes to much more culture than Disney could ever give.

Still love it!!! We are a Disney family and without DVC there is NO WAY we would be able to go yearly. My parents didn't take us anywhere when we were kids, and I mean that, not a single vacation. I didn't go on my first vacation until my honeymoon 5 years ago. I am happy to be able to ensure my kids get at least one vacation per year not including plans to visit national parks or a cruise... Etc. when they are older.

We like to travel to other places besides WDW as well. That's why I only purchased the amount of points I thought we would need for trips every other year or so. Only problem is we always want to invite someone along with us so need more points since we usually like to stay minimum 10 days. Yes, there's so much of the world to see and we aren't so narrow minded that we can only have fun at WDW. But It was the last trip we took together as a family before my husband passed away so we keep going back every other year because it's like going "home".

Happy DVC owner here::yes::. If they could offer those PAP every year I would be thrilled! Or even bring back the offer for 15 months. I have been disappointed in the rise in food cost. That's okay because we can always cook on our villa. Another perk of DVC!

Yes, I do (still feel like DVC was the Right Choice).:thumbsup2

Changes in recent years as to pricing and our vacation plans expanding outside of DVC's scope have made us think twice about expanding our membership as we had initially planned.

We still enjoy at least an annual DVC stay but increasingly find ourselves enjoying staying offsite at the other deluxe hotels around Orlando for additional trips we can squeeze into our schedule.:goodvibes It's all good!

I have no FDP lust since the rack rates are crazy expensive for the onsite deluxe properties when pricing for two people imo

I feel like it is the right choice for one and two bedroom and grand villas.

For me personally I would never, especially at today's prices, buy to stay in a studio.
