Still Feeding Nebo: The may trip final chapter pg 122, Dec. 31

See, I'm not strange; Maraena likes being first, too!

I loved this! Nebo and smidgy in true form! You guys must be so much fun--I can't imagine being brave enough to do karaoke! (well, maybe, with a bottle of Reisling...and some friends singing "American Pie";) ) I think the "bad singing gene" runs in our family; DD said her friends told her she can't sing well in music class! So sad, but so true--she sounds like my MIL !:rotfl: We just plan on piano lessons....

Sorry about the computer glitch, but I sure am glad you re-wrote it for us!

Are you packing yet, for the next trip? And will you have Christmas lights on the top of your car on the way down? (Our neighbor does this to the top of his Tahoe :sad2: Okay I'm actually a little jealous.)

See, I'm not strange; Maraena likes being first, too!

No, I really am strange. Trust me, I'm the strangest person I know. :lmao: Not only am I abnormally tall for a female, but I'm also left-handed. Even my doctors tell me I'm abnormal (i.e. strange) for having a normal temperature that one doctor described as dylexic (my normal is 96.8) and incredibly low blood pressure (100/49). Unlike most females, I despise shopping, refuse to carry a purse, and do not like to collect massive collections of shoes. I'm also perfectly content letting my DBf cook and clean while getting razzed by his and my family about being a proper housewife.

I kind of enjoy being strange. My mom calls me 'special' and 'unique' but let's just face it...I really am strange. But, hey, it looks like I'm in good company! :rotfl2:

Are you trying to get me in trouble?????:scared1:

Marita, how could I possibly get you in trouble. One of the founding fath,, mothers of Disney World. The greatest place on earth. And I don't think that you have to worry about me being one of the first ones to violate the sanctity of Stormalong Bay, as a non Y and B club resident. Oh no. The way things are going, there is a very good chance that Tiggerwannabe ends up being the first outsider into the pool. And I don't care if it's December.

My DH saw Robin Williams on Leno or Letterman and he said he supported the writer's strike and had joined them on the picket line with his own blank sign. :disrocks: (Don't ask why I felt the need to add this sign :upsidedow )

hey Kathy, I knew somebody had to use that line somewhere, I might have even remembered it from the last time they went on strike. And I think that was the time the writers on LOST went on strike too, but nobody ever told them that the strike was over.

(knock, knock) Helloooooo.....where are you Nebo?

Oh, Auntie Em! I'm right here! And from now on I'll never look further than my own back coral yard. There's no place like anemone, no place like anemone,,,

Fishy Fishy!!!!

Guess what...DH just backed out. He's gotta help his mother move into my house for the winter instead of coming to Disney with me :(

22yo DS is still coming. At least I have company this time.

OhMari sent a message to you via my new trip report..."you are not allowed to start a new trip report til you finish this one ;) She says just kidding. sort of."

Colleen, I'm so sorry. At least your son is still coming with. But this was an anniversary trip, wasn't it? Ok, ok,,, I won't push you in the pool. Now I feel bad. And as far as that cheesehead Ohmari goes, yeah, amazing how brave they get cuz the Packers can't seem to lose anymore. Geesh

It was a trip that fell on our anniversary~

that is no longer an Anniversary trip~

DS and I will enjoy the week anyway...I think I can mostly handle MIL moving in cause it will be preceded by a trip to Disney ::yes::

um. that's what Nebo would say where Karaoke is concerned. truth be told... he has a voice to melt a young girl's heart (and even an old gal like me).
he's not one to brag, so I will. my fav.... "rainy night in georgia" (brook benton). he also does a mean "poor side of town". "north to alaska" "16 tons" another bobby rydell song (I think) "forget him". I could go on and on, quite a repertoire... (ok, I can't sing, but at least SOMEONE in the family can spell!!!!:lmao: )
I USED to think I could sing. but a karaoke guy at the Moose lodge recorded us both. nebo played it on our last trip down. he sounded great.. I sounded... um .. so much for "girls just want to have fun!" gee , I really thought I sounded at least a little better than that! sigh:sad2:
but I still love doing duets with nebo. and it IS fun.
paranthetical aside: once many moons ago, we were sitting at the bar watching an all important playoff game. (no jukebox allowed ,important). steve says to me "want to dance?" "um, no music honey... game on?" nebo replies with "no problem!" (tee hee, actually he said "don't worry" but I couldn't resist:rotfl: )
we get up to dance with no music and he sings "always and forever" in my ear while we dance. double sigh, with a swoon:hug: .:cloud9:

one more thing: one of our favorite songs to do together is "what about now" if you don't know the song it's about why wait for a trip? let's take off now for the county line...why should we wait? let's take these dreams down the interstate, and be long gone before the world moves on, and makes another round.etc etc. etc.what about now???"

does anyone think nebo has taken this song a "mite" literally?:confused3 :scared1:  :rolleyes1

ok, being married to nebo, you have to be able to run the gamut of emotions!!!

forgot to mention. a karaoke girl and he do "you don't send me flowers" VERY well.(he's MUCH better than neil diamond)

colleen, so sorry to hear that hubby won't be joining you, but we will have TONS of fun on KTTK!!!! you know the saying "life is what happens when you make other plans" . look at it this way... I would give my kingdom (such as it is) if my son Jeremy could be with us in the land of the mouse. I would have SO much fun with him there so, in a way, I'm jealous of YOU!! (he's 25) but we'll have a gas! I promise you! kiss hug

Great chapter Nebo :thumbsup2

I was really pleased cuz this time I didn't even need the vice grips for the high notes.
Had to clean the coffee off of my Keyboard after reading this:rotfl2:

Loved the Update...Have to go to work now...Yes IIIIII have a Job!!!

But just saying....

Look at my siggy!!1

Yeah, right. I'm just a tad old for that.
But I had to say something, especially since I'm holding a mic in my hands.

"American Idol?" "I don't think so."
"Maybe if they had an "American Midol", I might have a chance."

Well, I thought I was really clever, the whole place was laughing out loud and I just stood there beaming.

Until Diane climbed the stairs and took the other microphone.

"Um Nebo? I think you're thinking of Geritol. Midol? You don't want to go there."

Yeah, she got me. From the sound of drinks being spit up at the bar and the tables, got a lot of other people as well.

okay so I usually like to think myself as a quick witted person..... until now.....
I was reading along just hunky dory and chuckled about the American Midol, didn't even dawn on me until Diane called you on it,,,,,, duh, then I about fell outta the chair laughing (at you and myself)

we get up to dance with no music and he sings "always and forever" in my ear while we dance. double sigh, with a swoon

You are a very lucky Lady...

mine is almost as romantic,

only quieter about it ;)

We'll just have to have fun with my kid right?!

Remember, we have Ice Cream with Marita the day before :woohoo:

Nebo, all the great quotes were already taken, dagnabbit!

Let me just say this:

A). loved your report as always

B) Smidgy gave you a glowing review! I would love to hear you sing!

C) When I was 13, my class took a field trip to an island in the North Sea (which is really not important). Anyway, during this week, a teacher formed a choir. (all girls, FYI). So we sing our hearts out. Except the teacher was saying, someone is singing off key. After some more listening, he narrows it down to ME! And says, You, OUT!
I am now 55, and still remember that clear as day, LOL.

All this to say, I WILL NEVER DO KARAOKE!!!

I have two more stories to share from that trip, if the occasion ever presents itselt in relation to anything. Let's just say that that summer put a big dent into my self-esteem :rolleyes1

PS: Smidgy is a funny Lady!

Wow, your karaoke marathon sounds like it was a blast! I love karaoke and didn't realize there was any on Disney property. Next time you'll have to videotape it for all of us and put your finest performances up on YouTube!

I guess it's pretty scary when you research karaoke for vacation. Just fyi, Kimonos is the only place I know of at Disney that has it, HOWEVER, at Uni, they also have it at the Jazz club at Citywalk, and at Jake's lounge at the Royal Pacific. We tried it there one time, but the sound was terrible, song selection was miniscule, and the guy that was running it was a jerk. We both sang one song, and walked out a half hour later when the KJ just kept singing himself, and ignored our slips.

BIG man rule infraction!! Why do some guys want to carry on a conversation, when all I want to do is get out of there as quickly as possible? :confused3

Great update! Keep 'em coming!

Hey Kevin, since you agree with me, I'm going to share a little bathroom procedure I have been practicing for many years now. A sanitary procedure.
You know those white cloth towels that you have to pull down till they click, and it rewinds up the back? Always advance the roll, BEFORE you wash your hands. Why have to grab the part that who knows who last wiped there hands on it just to advance to the clean part. Makes sense, no?
Hey, by the way, what in the heck does your screen name mean? Sounds like something I'd hear on Star Trek. "Captain, Chancellor Dismorgh from Diaphenus 2 has beamed aboard."

Jenny I got your number I need to make you mine Jenny don't change your number 867-5309 867-5309

I love that song! I'm sure it's even better when you sing it.

Wow, another Virginian. But no, nobody can touch Tommy Tutone on that song.

Ah ha! See, now I truly understand men's bathroom etiquette. It's somewhat like when a dentist tries to chat you up with all that junk in your mouth. Or, better yet, when an OB/GYN tries to chat up a woman during an annual exam. It's just one of those situations where you want them to get in, get things done, and get out. Now I see! Thank you!

Maraena, you did a great job breaking down my last chapter, and I appreciate all your comments. But if I try to breakdown all of your breakdowns, I'd probably have a breakdown. By the way, still think Smidgy is "demure and innocent?"

"There's a calm surrender, to the rush of day, when the heat of a rolling wind, can't be turned away,,,,,,,,,,,,,"

Jim Croce reference---Love it. He was a Philly Boy:thumbsup2

Another Philly boy..You have great taste in Music:thumbsup2

Sounds like you had alot of fun.

Janet, you're not old enough to remember Bobby Rydell, I barely do. But there sure were some great voices back then. Him, Roy Orbison, and Jay Black, from Jay and the Americans. No, I have never tried to sing "Cara Mia" nor will I ever.

See, I'm not strange; Maraena likes being first, too!
WOw! No comment.

Whogirl, that's an interesting idea. Thank you, but no!!! I prefer to keep as low a profile as possible when I'm trying to drive 1250 miles one way.

You and I have one thing in common. No, I'm not left handed. I used to be amphibious but my parents kept putting things in my right hand. But my normal temperature is about 97.5. If I'm at 98.6, then I have a fever, and can't stop shaking.

It was a trip that fell on our anniversary~

that is no longer an Anniversary trip~

DS and I will enjoy the week anyway...I think I can mostly handle MIL moving in cause it will be preceded by a trip to Disney ::yes::

Wait, he's moving her in with you? And you won't be there? Uh oh, oy vey, egads, and damn the torpedoes. You realize your whole kitchen will be rearranged, don't you? AHahahah, I'm just kidding, right? RIGHT?

one more thing: one of our favorite songs to do together is "what about now" if you don't know the song it's about why wait for a trip? let's take off now for the county line...why should we wait? let's take these dreams down the interstate, and be long gone before the world moves on, and makes another round.etc etc. etc.what about now???"

Um, aw shucks. Smidgy sings better than she says she does, it's always a shock when you hear yourself on tape.

Great chapter Nebo :thumbsup2

Had to clean the coffee off of my Keyboard after reading this:rotfl2:

Thank you, I was wondering if the vice grips line wasn't dropping in.

You know Shawn, even when she corrected me on the Midol, I still didn't know exactly what it was for, I just knew that I WAS thinking of Geritol.

Marita, there are still memories in my head that I'd give anything to go away. The ones where when they pop in, you want to put your fingers in you ears and go "la la la la la. "

Janet, you're not old enough to remember Bobby Rydell, I barely do. But there sure were some great voices back then. Him, Roy Orbison, and Jay Black, from Jay and the Americans. No, I have never tried to sing "Cara Mia" nor will I ever.
.

I saw Bobby Rydell when I was 10 years old:thumbsup2 It was at a place called Palumbo's and back in the day anybody who was anyone played there. Frank, Bobby, Fabian. Very cool place and before it closed if you lived in South Philly you had your wedding there:thumbsup2

Nebo, love the Jim Croce references. My all time fav since 1st grade when my teacher would play his You Don't Mess Around With Jim album everyday during rest period. I think I have every album he ever made. One of my biggest regrets of all time is when we were in San Diego and didn't go to his wife's restaurant, Croce's.
