Steve the Crocodile Hunter

Very Sad :(

It just seems so surreal that after spending years handling dangerous crocodiles, poisonous snakes and spiders, all of which are well known to be dangerous and have killed many people, he gets killed by a Stingray which until now there have been no other known victims of.

My thoughts go out to his family who must be absolutely devastated by this.
it said on the news here he is the 3rd person to died by stingray

it is so sad

Sorry, I was repeating what had been said in the news bulletins I had heard this morning. A quick search on google reveals that other people have indeed died from stingray barbs, most commonly to the chest.

I guess the point I was trying to make is that stingrays just don't have an image of being a dangerous creature in the same way that the others I listed do.

I did find this article though on the dangers posed by stingrays which I thought was quite interesting.

I loved his programme ,Steve was one heck of a character,Sadly I always knew this day would come,But like everyone else sure it would be a croc..

RIP Steve

What sad sad news

We were privaledged this year to meet steve(bindi,Bob), on our trip to Australia Zoo, we did it via make a wish, for our son who is disabled, he was my son's idol. He is naturally devastated, and I cant even begin to think how Steve's family are feeling at the moment.

we stayed in touch with a member of the australia Zoo team, and are posting a card to her and all staff today sending our condolences.

He was an amazing man, still cant belive he has died in such a tragic accident.

I have always thought Stevo was a brilliant fella for trying to make the world understand about dangerous animals, his enthusiasm for life and animals was amazing. I have always defended him from people who say "ooh he is so false" etc. My girls have started watching all his programs now aswell and loved him to bits.

A real shame and loss to the world. My thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP Stevo You'll Never Walk Alone.

I'm so sad about this, its just devastating. He was truly a celebrity worthy of his status, so much fun and full of life. The world is definitely a sadder place without him. :sad2:

such a shame he was so good at what he done and i'm sure a lot of people learnt a lot from him.He will be missed.

I loved watching this guy.
He was so brave and fun to watch.
He will missed by millions.

DD loved watching his programmes and he was one of the few TV celebs she could actually name. Don't know how, (or even if!) we should tell her about this. The world has lost a truly awesome character! :sad2:

My 4y/o just saw him on the news and reconised him from wiggly safari and she start's telling me about baby croc's and spiders, amazing the impact he had on children.

Such sad news. I couldn't believe it when I heard the news this morning. His poor family, I can't imagine what they are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

He was a great ambassador for conservation, there will never be another Steve :sad2:

he was so knowledgable about crocs, that i didn t tthink it would be the crocs, but it is very sad that he has died so young.
he made a big difference with his conservation efforts and i just hope some one will continue with the work he started.
best wishes to his family and friends.

This is very sad news, I was in shock when i heard. I really feel for his family.

I heard about it this morning; so sad. :(

Although I was never really a fan of him, it's so sad to see him die so young (well, that's if you count 44 as young..). Anyways, thoughts out to the people (particularly, his family/friends) who are saddened by this..
