When you go out for a cup of coffee, do you take extra sugar or Equal to bring home? Do you consider this stealing?

Hahaha I actually do the opposite. I always bring my own Splenda in my purse since not many places use it around here. Sometimes I leave a couple to give them a hint. :teeth:

In college I did when I was really broke, but I haven't for a while. I think my dad does though!

I don't recall ever doing that. But my nana sure does..she feels its an all you can take! I live in South Florida and it's very entertaining to watch elderly people fitting as much napkins, sauces, sweetners, etc in their purses.. :lmao:

:rotfl2: Thought this was a very funny question from someone named "imsorry"!!!

I only take extra when we're travelling, never around home. No, it's not stealing...you know the next place you stop is going to forget to give you sugar, and in the end it all balances out.

I just wanted to add...my aunt owns a catering company and we count out sugar for the number of people attending because they will take EVERYTHING when they are done. If we bring a nice big basket of sugar, 9 times out of 10 they will clean it out. If you leave extra anything (napkins, plates, plastic silverware) they will take it. It doesn't seem like much to them but when she does several drop off luncheons it adds up.

This is only for the drop off luncheons...if we're doing events we are there to take everything back.

i get extra with my morning coffee, at the drive through, and keep it in the console of the suburbus, never know when the drive through idiots will not put any into the bag with my coffee.

No, but I have been known to slip a steak knife in my purse ;) Oh, and a shrimp fork in my sock once :teeth:

I only pilfer packets of tartar sauce........is that a crime?
Jenny :rotfl2:

Just reading the title, I thought you meant "Stealing Sugar" as in kisses. Here in the south all kisses are sugars

I don't do it and yes I consider it petty theft. It's not worth worrying about but it is taking something that belongs to another. The sugar packets are placed there for you to use with the coffee you buy at that shop not for coffe from somewhere else. By taking them your making the owner of the shop spend more for thier supplies. So in the long run you're taking money out of his pocket to benifit yourself.

DH never takes the sugar but he is always taking extra napkins for the car.

Not really. Unless you are talking about taking 20 sugar packets and its blatent then yeah that is stealing. If its an extra sugar packet then no.

Then again if everyone took 2 extra packets of sugar, there would be no sugar left.

I used to steal a hand full of single serving milk from McDonalds. My excuse at the time was they were long life milk, and it means I always had milk at work. I did this rather then discovering after I made my tea the full bottle of milk I bought that morning was empty. Now I am older, I just buy milk and keep it in the fridge in my office, no way would I leave it in the company fridge.

Lets put this in reverse. If I came over to your house and had a meal w/tea and then proceeded to put extra sugar in my purse for later what would U think. Is it stealing?? I mean U did say heres the sugar help yourself. If I took a big stack of napkins from your table and put in my purse for my house/car. Stealing? Ok now not if I took a few and used only 3 out of 5 of them, and took home so they dont get thrown out.

OK so what do U think???? Stealing???? or Not?????

My MIL takes sweet and lows. Lots of them. I think it is stealing. I truly can't stand it. She takes them from ME when I have them over for dinner. I'll put the sugar, sweet and low, equal and splenda out and there is NEVER any sweet and low left. It drives me crazy!

I don't think that's the same thing as the OP described unless I read it wrong, lol. If I go to 7Eleven and get a coffee to go, I take 4 equals and 3 creamers because their coffee is usually stronger than mine, but I might find I actually only need 3 equals, so I have one I throw in the glove box. If I came to your house and you gave me a cup to go, then would you consider it stealing if I took 4 even if you later found out I only needed 3? If I'm drinking the coffee at your house with you, then I would have no need to take any with me.

Actually I think that's what the OP was asking. It wasn't about taking a slightly larger amount to make sure you have the right amount of sugar. It was about taking extra to be used at home.

OMG... my tag :rotfl2: awwww, the Tag Fairy doesn't hate me

I never take sugar, because I never use it.

What I'm amazed at is when I go through a drive thru window and either get zero of the sauce I asked for, or 27 packets for one sandwich.
