Last night's dinnerdom was a huge unfortunate turn of events. My roomie had used all the butter in the refrigerator, which I planned on using for a nice tarragon, butter and red wine sauce. I, instead, used
margarine, which made the sauce taste like a nasty, salty goo. (Ugh....it was nasty!

) Then, after searing the steak, I put it in the oven so that it'd reach a nice "medium rare". UNFORTUNATELY my roomie came into the kitchen and informed me that the meat thermometer was broken.......about 10 minutes too late. My steak was OVER well-done.

(I normally don't use meat thermometers since I always keep an eye on the meat, but this was an exception for some reason.) I was so upset last night. Needless to say, this was a very dry, tough piece of meat.
There are about 20 other things that went wrong last night that I won't even get into.
