Dh and I are booked on 3 night Dream. When I looked over the md menus, I saw items Dh is not going to eat as he is strictly meat snd potatoe guy and not into trying new foods. Can he order a steak if it's not on the menu?

There is almost always a steak on the menu. What menu did you see with no steak option?

With that said as long as steak is being served in one of the MDRs you husband can order it.

As mentioned, there is a steak on every menu. Most menus have a steak option under the regular entree section, plus there is a "lighter note" section on every menu that offers a sirloin steak. If the issue is how the steak is prepared, i.e. seasonings or sauces served with it, your DH can request those be left off. Sides can be substituted as well. Don't be afraid to ask. If possible, your server will get you what you want. My DD prefers a plain salad with just romaine lettuce and carrots with ranch dressing. She mentioned that to our server on our last cruise and every night, they brought her that exact salad. By the end of the cruise, they were bringing it without her even asking for it.

The sirloin on the lighter fare menu can come with a baked potato. Easy Peasy.

My hubby is strictly a steak and potatoes guy and he not only survived a 14 night DCL Panama Canal Cruise, he gained 10 lbs like the rest of us! There is a steak option on every menu. If its not in main entrée section, its in the lighter fare section.

My DD is a steak and rice kid lol, she ate it almost every night on the dream. If you see the ingredients on the menu they can pretty much make it.

I pretty much ate some form of steak and potatoes for every meal lol.

There's always a steak on the menu. Also chicken and a fish dish. When looking at the posted MDR menus don't just look at the featured items. There is another section of every day items.

DH is steak and potatoes, also.

Note: They serve the steak w/ some kind of sauce (not steak sauce, but some fancy sauce). I ask them to leave the sauce off. Also, I had to ask for sour cream for the potato.

I tell DH to try at least one thing new each cruise. The understanding is that if he doesn't like it, he doesn't have to eat it. There's always Flo's or a hamburger from room service.

My DGD (4) is a beef only person at the time. We recently took a 3 day Wonder cruise where she ordered beef or steak with broccoli every meal, from the adult menu. No sauces. It was always available in some form on the menu or otherwise accommodated without question, including the side of broccoli.

My hubby was a steak and potatoes only guy before we started cruising 5 years ago. Our excellent wait staff convinced him to explore other options by promising to bring him a steak with whatever other entree he would order. Now he routinely orders something new " and a steak". I wound strogly encourage your husband to try this option. He might just be pleasantly surprised.

This is a great suggestion. Since it doesn't cost anything extra, go ahead and order something adventurous off the menu. If it turns out you don't like it they'll bring something else for him. That's how I first tried escargot!

My sirloin had no sauce on it. The whole point of the Lighter Fare menu is not that it is "plain" but that it is lighter than the stuff with all the sauces and whatnot on it. Ergo no sour cream on the potatoes (thank goodness).

I sometimes get a baked potato on the side. Mashed potatoes is another side choice. I order the entree from the menu and ask for the potato extra. Comes on another plate.

As noted, there's always the Lighter Note options (steak, fish, chicken). You can see the section on this menu:

Besides the steak and baked potato, I would sometimes order the plain chicken breast with baked potato with
sour cream on the side. Both were delicious...

Im with him. Pretty much the only things I need are a good steak and some potatoes.

On the menus that I did not want their selection, I asked for a sirloin or filet mignon and usually potatoes.

They will make whatever you want, you are not limited to the menu. Let the dining manager or head server know the first day...

Here is what they have in the kitchen when you make the request:

I found the lighter side steaks to bee really thin and not very good. Ordering a filet mignon or NY strip was usually really good.

Thanks soo much for all the answers. I was really sweating it out thinking I'd have a grumpy husband. But once again the disers put my worries away. thanks again.
