Staying in touch at Disney?

So I'm an international traveller as some of you know, and my parents are planning on leaving me and my siblings at some of the parks while they go downtown and do other things, and then later pick us up as they will have a car. What do you recommend for staying in touch? Would prepaid phones do the trick? Also, is there any wifi at either Disney World or Universal parks? Thanks

We live stateside but just bought a trak phone for our kids. Worked like a charm. But we only bought the one and they stuck together. I think net total was maybe $50 or so with the minutes my husband chose.

Phone can take up to an hour to activate, but ours was ready within 10 minutes of our call (from a different phone) to activate it.

Our phone has texting capabilities. Each text coming and going was 1/3 of a minute. It also had data, but because that can suck some serious amounts when you don't realize it, we did not use it.

After every call and text, it told them how many minutes were used and how many remained.

Disney has wifi. Works okay. Can be a bit lagging at times due to usage. I don't know about universal.

There is wifi in the Disney parks. Cannot say about Universal. I would think a prepaid phone would probably work pretty well for communication.

I agree with the prepaid phones. Do you have cell phones now? I don't know how it works for international travel but you might see if your carrier has any deals or packages for a short time trip?

Check with your phone carrier to see if they have international rates. Otherwise you can buy cheap phones at Walmart with prepaid service.

If you have a GSM unlocked phone, you can get a sim card from T-Mobile. For $2 / day you can get unlimited talk and text within the US. If you want data, it's $3/day

If you don't have a phone, you can buy an AT&T Go Phone from Walmart, Future Shop, Radio Shack, etc. AT&T also has a per day plan.

I would call your carrier for an international plan. Going the other way (3 weeks ago I was in Paris), it was only $25 for data and unlimited text with AT&T.

The wifi at Disney is pretty good.

Otherwise, go to the designated smoking section and start a fire.

Another vote for a prepaid phone here. I had to travel for work recently to a place without cell coverage from my current provider (Alaska). I just picked up a cheap $10 phone at a walmart and bought a 120 minute card for like $25. At 1/3 minute per text, that was plenty for the week.
