Hi everyone. I had a stomach bug on Monday, and it made me think about our upcoming trip and how much I want to avoid being sick again. When you travel (fly), what precautions do you take to avoid catching something?

Take the same precautions you would in any public space. If you want to be overly paranoid you can bring Lysol wipes and wipe down your tray table and arm rests. Keep your hands away from your nose, eyes and mouth. Wash your hands frequently.

We always use Clorox wipes to wipe down the seat and tray area. I also bring hand sanitizer in my carry on to clean my hands after I use the wipes.

In the airport, follow the same guidelines. Those arm rests get touched hundreds of times in a day while people are waiting for their flights.

Ditto for your hotel room - think of all the things people touched that don't get cleaned by housekeeping (handles, light switches, etc). We were traveling to Mexico last year right after the swine flu outbreak so I really started thinking...

I wash my hands frequently while at the airport. Nothing is going to kill all those germs. You can be just so careful. I use the ladies room a lot to wash up. I tend to not worry about touching armrests or such in the airport. Once on the plane, I wipe down the tray and the armrests and the touchpads for any sound or tv control. Then, I forget about it. In all my time flying, I have yet to get sick within a week of travel.

I don't do anything out of the ordinary, other than trying to make sure I still get enough rest while at WDW rather than commando.

None. If I'm going to catch something I think I'm just as likely to catch it riding the Metro or at work. Just wash your hands when you hit the restroom.

I wipe down everything that could be touched on the plane or in the hotel room, even the remote control in the hotel room (that never gets cleaned). Take vitamin C and get rest. I also read somewhere that you should sit on an aisle seat since the air on a plane circulates from center to the sides.

Before using clorox wipes please make sure no one in the area is going to have an allergic reaction.
