Staying at two resorts on one trip

I was wondering if anyone has ever stayed at two resorts in one trip. We are currently booked at the CR but considering changing half of our stay to the Poly bc I keep reading such great reviews about it. Plus, the Poly has rooms available with a MK view and we have a lake view at the CR so we would have the best of both. Opinions??? We are staying for 9 nights.

I haven't ever done a split stay, but today I changed my Jan reservation to one. We are also staying 9 nights so I figure its 2 vacations in one. Also, unless you are really set on being close to MK and the monorail maybe switch to an Epcot resort to give you 2 different areas! Good luck on your decision!

I have a couple of times and we enjoyed it. We did 4 at AKL and 5 at WL.

That said, I don't know that I'd split at two monorail resorts. You have plenty of access to Poly already as far as restaurants and whatnot.

If it works for you, then great, but I would probably do the split with an EPCOT deluxe, just for the change. Plus you could plan park visits around it. AKL and MK from CR and HS and EPCOT walking or boating from there.

Whatever you decide, you'll have fun!

I would do it. We did a 2/4 split and while it wasn't worth it to us for only a 6 night trip, I would do it again for a trip that was 9 nights. I think 4 nights at one resort and 5 at another is enough time to enjoy both .

I have done a split stay before and loved it. This year I am doing a triple stay! we are staying the first 4 nights @ Beach Club waterview. transfering POR for the next 4 nights followed by CBR for the remainder of our vacation. You ask why it's because I want to stay at every resort and give them all a shot. Just call me CRAZY....

We did it last month and it really was great. We did CR Garden Wing and then BC-CL so it was the best of both worlds. MK in the beginning and Epcot/DHS at the end. I loved it. DH was not sold but he didn't feel good the day we switched resorts so not having the room for a few hours bothered him more than me or the kids.

Thanks for all your replies. I think we will split our stay for sure. The Poly has really caught my attention from all the reviews. I am still interested in the CR also. I am so indecisive.

What deluxe Epcot resort would you recommend?

I do split trips all the time. I enjoy trying out new resorts. I once did 5 resorts in a 10 day trip! Disney makes it easy. Just have bell services transfer the luggage for you.

We are doing a split stay on our September trip. We are doing 3 nights at WL and 3 at BWV. I figured we could do all the MK stuff and hotel restaurants we like while at WL, then all the EPCOT/DHS stuff the last 3. It's the best of both Worlds. I am super excited about it!

How long are you without a room? Do you have to wait for check in time at the next hotel? I think my DH is skeptical bc he doesn't want to move but I told him they made it sound easy

We left CR about 8:30am and check into BC by 9am. We got our new keys and had access to the lounge. Our room was ready about 1pm which is not bad. Bell service held all the bags and we just went to DHS for the morning. It would have been fine if he hadn't felt bad.

I would recommend doing one monorail resort and then an Epcot resort (YC/BC/BW) to get the best of both worlds.

If you're interested in seeing the other resorts, this may be a good way to do it. We recently stayed at BLT for 7 days and didn't find the time to visit the other resorts. I wanted to visit the Wilderness Lodge and the Grand Floridian, but didn't do it on this trip. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

I think split stays are fine, if you understand all the ins and outs of them going in. Realize that to Disney, you are making 2 independent reservations -- to make them cost-effective, one or both legs should be a room-only reservation. If you like the dining plan, then each independent reservation requires a ticket purchase, which is a big added expense and it's not such a good deal.

I would look into BC or YC for a split. It would cost less than Poly, and puts you at the back door to EPCOT and a boat ride away from HS. Also, BC/YC share the best pool on site. The Boardwalk area is pretty cool also.

Or skip CR and do the split with Poly and an EPCOT resort!

We love doing split stays, as you can tell from my signature! As others have posted, you have to keep in mind they are easier with room only than with a pkg.

You can do a pkg. for your first resort, purchase (or upgrade at check in) the tickets for the entire trip, and go without dining plan for your second resort (room only). Gives you a chance to have it both ways. We don't use the dining plan and usually have APs, so it's not an issue for us.

I would go with a MK resort and an Epcot resort - but if you have your heart set on two MK resorts, go with that. I usually try to put the favorite resort at the end so you have it to look forward to and don't mind leaving a new resort if you fall in love with it.

I have done a lot of split stays. They're fine. You just have to remember that you will need to pack up and move. Disney will move your luggage for you, if you want (take valuable items with you).

The only real caveat is if you are booking vacation packages (if you want a dining plan at both resorts, for example) then you end up having to buy tickets twice if you don't have an AP or the military discount. But if you don't want DDP or you only want it on the first stay, it can work well. I never use the dining plan, so a split stay is always an option for me.

I'm trying a split for first time in Oct. This is only b/c of room availability, dvc rooms go quick during F&WF.
BC is my all time favorite resort - highly recommend it.

Yes, we've stayed at 3 resorts in 1 trip - did that twice. And I happen to think your choices are fantastic.

Here is what we did;

First tri-split was for 9 nights: AKL - POR - CR
Second tri-split was for 12 nights: AKL - Cabins - Poly

Although AKL is our absolute favorite resort - CR lake view is absolutely stunning...and Poly MK view is TDF.

If you enjoy the MK area, then yes, this is the best of both indeed...
