Staying at Swan. . .better to catch bus there or at Boardwalk?

To answer the question specifically about AK, the bus from SD was fine. I didn't think its necessary to go to Boardwalk for the AK bus.
If you take the SD bus back to hotel from AK, one word of advice is make sure you pay attention because its wasn't immediately clear to me where the bus was going to pull up. Some of them seem to idle in parking spaces waiting for passengers but I am still kind of confused about that part.
There is a small covered waiting area for non-Disney hotel shuttles. There was a lady there who was staying at another off site hotel not SD, who missed the bus, because she didn't realize it came.

What is it like catching a Minnie van after Xmas party late December to Swan. I’ve taken the Minnie van to MK from there but not later after a party.

I’ve never done that but unless you need car seats it’s usually much cheaper to walk across the street to Contemporary and catch Uber or Lyft from there.

How are the busses from Dolphin to Disney Springs?
If you plan to end your night on the West Side, they are in a good spot. The one thing, which I mentioned about the stop at AK, its not clearly marked, at least in my opinion. Keep and eye on all of the busses that pull up. The first time I used a SD bus, was my first night there and took it to Disney Springs. It was a regular style bus that looked like the Disney busses, so that is the style I was looking for on the way back. Turns out it was a coach bus on the way back. It pulled around and parked with the doors open. I decided to ask the driver who standing outside, and turns out it was the SD bus.

Swan....buses use the charter bus areas. The stops are clearly NUMBERED, maybe signs were being updated during your stay. At drop off the driver should tell you where you pick up your return bus

Mears has the contract. They will use other buses to fill in. Ask the driver is the correct advice Disney does the same, particularly at park close.

On the evening of our arrival, we're going to hit the World of Disney Store and Earl of Sandwich, so it seems it would be best to use the Beach Club bus instead of the Dolphin since we're not going all the way up to Cirque. This post has been very helpful!

I'd go with ride share. Disney bus service to DS isn't reliable. Walk to bus area, possible long wait for a bus folliwed by a walk to the Dolphin VS a shorter walk to the ride share area followed by transportation direct to your hotel
