Hi
I will be staying at pop century Friday 2nd for 2 weeks, which rooms are better to stay in? Would you upgrade? Also how would I do this? Plus it will be my birthday while I am there would you tell them at check in or would you email before hand?

TIA

Stayed at Pop twice and never made any room requests but wound up with great rooms on both occasions. Tell them on check in about your birthday and to be totally honest I wouldn't upgrade at Pop, it's probably one of the easier resorts to navigate and there are good and bad points about each room, pool view is great but can be loud. Being away from the pool can mean a slightly longer walk there but a much quieter location. Pop is a lovely resort btw :D

If you want to make a request you can always get the resort map on Google to get Near the food court/bus. For me I prefer staying a little bit away from there also for the peace haha. Wish I was going so soon! Have fun!

No rooms at Pop are very far from anything.
If you have mobility problems if might be worth paying for the upgrade (the rooms are identical, they're just closer to the main building) but on the whole I don't think the extra cost is worth it.
The 80's & 90's sections are the furthest away from the main lobby.
If you want a quieter room, ask to avoid the 60s buildings - these overlook the main pool.
My absolute favourite location at Pop is building 6 in the 70s section. If you can get a high floor looking out over the water then it's a great place to be.

Any room requests (and birthday info!) should be made to Disney as early as possible. If you booked direct with Disney then call them up and ask the to note your request and celebration info on your reservation.
Nothing is guaranteed, but if you wait until check-in then it might be too late for the CM to do anything for you.

we also prefer the 70's
i always call in advance and have them put the request on my reservation.
as far as i recall, they've given it to us all but one time.

Thank you all for your replies :) 70's room would be great as I was born in the 70's and I'm celebrating my birthday there so it would be cool, do you have to call or can I email? Calling wdw works out expensive x

i don't know about emailing - i've always called....it's free on my phone plan (calling the states), so i never think about it...
i think there's a way to call inexpensively....i've seen comments on this board about ways to call for less, but i've never paid attention...perhaps someone could chime in?

If you booked with Disney then the free-phone number is 0800 16 90 730.

No

I booked with Thompson, anyway of calling cheaply?

i don't call disney UK - i call direct to the pop century resort itself to have the request put on my reservation.
However, if you booked with Thompson, i'm not sure this can be done.
Someone else needs to answer that.
