Looking forward to my November trip. For all of you Poly veterans a few questions.

1) I have a garden view. is there a particular building I should ask for? Is one better than the other?

2) Any general tips. Cool things to do at the resort, hidden secrets, etc?

Thanks!!!!!

Tommy

I returned from my first Poly stay 2 weeks ago. We had a garden view reserved, and got Aotearoa, ground floor, facing the monorail line. Some people may think this is a terrible location, but we LOVED it!! It was so much fun sitting on the patio having a drink, watching all monorails glide by every few minutes (resort and express!), and waving at total strangers! :teeth: We really enjoyed the location, as it was also a super quick walk over to the main building and Captain Cooks. And the lagoon was right there very close, and the marina, so the whole area was quite scenic. :)

I certainly wouldn't mind having a monorail view again! :teeth:

I LOVE the Poly. One of my favorite things to do at night is take a blanket down to the beach and sit and watch the Electrical Light Parade.

Also, the torch lighting ceremony in the evening is neat to watch.

GV room requests really depend on what you like!! We stayed in Fiji, 3rd floor, marina side in Dec. '05 and absolutely LOVED IT!!! We had a view of the volcano pool and space mountain from our balcony and it was a very short walk to GCH and the pool. When we go back, I would not hesitate to ask for this location again. I think GV rooms at the Poly are great!

We just stayed (Aug 15-24) at Tokelau GV and loved it. 2 minutes to the GCH, 2 minutes to the TTC, and a minute or 2 to the beach. And right next to the quiet pool ! Have fun !! :thumbsup2

We're staying at the Poly for the first time in May 08. We have a garden view also. I've been trying to read about the different locations but not sure which I should ask for. I know my husband would want to be as close to the GCH as possible.

We always request Tokelau--3rd floor. It's by the quiet pool and is an easy walk to the Great Ceremonial House and TTC.
One of our favorite things is strolling around at night when the tiki torches are burning. It's a nice, relaxing way to end a busy Disney day.

:stitch:

We're trying to book a GV for next November, but the Disney site says only Lagoon view is available. UGH :confused3

Every longhouse has its advantages and disadvantages. I say, relax and go with the flow. Let the tiki gods smile down upon you and choose what would be best for you. Otherwise, you may be setting yourself up for disappointment.

Hi
We stayed in the Poly in May 06 and I would definately recommend the Samoa Longhouse for a superb Garden view room. We had a view on the 1st floor of the Volcano pool, this was wonderful and barely a hop skip or a jump to the water.
However, if you we to stay on the other side of the long house then you would have an amazing view of the Poly grounds and the quiet pool area, which is just as lovely.
The Samoa buiolding is also pretty central to the mainy reception.
The small patio area outside on the 1st floor is ideal, however, it is worth noting that not all longhouses above the 1st floor have balconies, so if you are liklely to want to sit out and enjoy the view I recommend that you request a 1st floor room!

Hope this is of some help:confused3

I agree with Samoa. They have balconies on the 3rd floor but not on 2nd. We had 3rd floor, overlooking the quiet pool and it was wonderful!!

This is exactly the view we requested a couple weeks ago. Soooo glad we did. Another :thumbsup2 for 3rd floor Fiji marina side.

I agree! I've stayed in a different longhouse every Poly trip and my favorite one was the one farthest away from everything (and I never thought I'd like that!). I spent so much time obsessing before our last trip requesting room buildings (and some specific rooms-we stayed at 3 different resorts) and looking back I wish I had just left it up to the Disney magic! I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't as amazed either.

We request 3rd floor Fiji-- both sides of the building have a great view.

One time we got Rapa Nui and it wasn't terrible but the view was just grass/walk ways. But we don't spend much time in the room anyways. You really can't go wrong at the Polynesian.
