Hi guys!

With flights into Fort Lauderdale looking very cheap currently I was wondering if anyone has any tips on areas to stay around there. We have been looking into staying in Orlando and making a trip down to the keys, but am now thinking whether it would be cheaper to fly into Fort Lauderdale, rent a villa for a week, and make a couple of day trips to the Keys before moving to Florida.

Anyone stayed around there and has any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi, Fort Lauderdale area is great for a few days either at the beginning of the holiday or the end. We lived just outside there for a year and really enjoyed it. I would recommend the Doubletree Gallery One as a hotel. Lovely location and setting on the intra-coastal, walking distance to the beach and next door to a nice mall. We were really impressed when we stayed there with family. Great rooms and fabulous service.

As for what to do, there is the water taxi river cruise (wonderful for seeing the fabulous homes), the beautiful beach and the marina. Sawgrass Mills is great for shopping. If you want to venture a little further afield we just love Naples which is 90 mins across I-75. A trip to Miami Beach across the MacArthur Causeway is also an experience. There are all kinds of other things you can do if you have time but I would certainly recommend it for a great few days very different to WDW! :flower3:
