Would you rather lose pounds or inches?

I've been thinking about this one for a couple of days. Especially after my shopping trip this past weekend, I am amazed at the size of clothes that I can fit into at this high weight. I thought I'd have to be in onderland at least to a wear a size 14. Not that I'm complaining. But I know its the inches lost that help me get into a 14 pants and large top. I've lost a few pounds here and therefore but never really changed clothes sizes like this before. Anyway, I'd love to know which you all prefer to lose.

I'm a sergeant, too! It was harder this week than last. I'd like to see what sort of progress I'm making. Then I tried on a pair of tight shorts and they fit better - so I felt better.

As for inches vs. pounds - I'd like the best of both worlds, but if I had to choose only one, I'd choose inches. Because if you look good, you feel good....but that doesn't stop me from wanting both!

Have a great day everyone! Stay strong!

Well since that one slip when I returned from vacation about 10days ago I have been SCALE FREE! Its very hard but I refuse to let that evil thing decide how I feel about myself and the work I know I am putting into getting healthier!

Okay which is more important to me - lbs or inches?
BOTH! I really can't decide!

Hollyann - thanks for reporting in. I have promoted you to Sergeant. Great job, keep it up. I know it's hard but we're half way there. Congrats on the shorts fitting better!!!!

yasuern - You did it!! Congratulations!!!! I promoted you to Corporal. Keep up the great work!

I agree with you guys that I'd prefer both and fortunately I have been consistently losing both inches and pounds but I have noticed in the past when I have lost weight that I didn't necessarily go down in clothes sizes. I figured it must be the pounds and inches together making the difference. But I have a friend that hasn't lost a pound in close to a month but she went down a clothes size. I'm so proud of her!

Keep up the great work everyone!! We can do this even though it's hard!!!! ::yes::

Hi, everybody!

Please promote me up the ranks.....last week was weigh free and I'm still going strong!

Can't believe that we are entering our third week already ..... the time sure does fly by when you are looking after yourself.

In answer to the question it is great to lose pounds and see the scale slowly go down and down but it is also nice, when you have been good on your healthy eating plan and the scales are not moving to be able to fit into smaller clothes. Personally it makes me more determined to carry on.

Have an excellent week everyone.

Wow 2 weeks have gone by. Amazing!

Sergeant July reporting in. Another week I haven't weighed. Yipee! This is the start of our third week. Well I know I have lost inches otherwise. I wouldn't be wearing my size 16 again. But I think I am greedy I want to loose both. Is that okay. Since I just started recently I hope it is okay.

I know that you have noticed inches too Lisa.

July :sunny:

Ok, I've stayed off it mainly because I don't want to know right now.

Hello all . Today was another day off the scale. I'm so proud. 2 weeks scale free. I can't say that's it's been eas, but it has definately been enlightening.

I think I would rather lose inches. It seems to be really working out that way. WHen the scale doesn't move, my inch loss certainly doesn and that's when I notice my clothes getting smaller.

Hannosmom reporting in. No weigh in again, unless you count the dream I had last night. Pulled those scales out and stepped on it, and I had lost another 20 pounds! (yeah, definitely "in my dreams! :p )

Happy Tuesday everyone! Let's all be strong and continue to stay off the evil scale!

Hannonsmom - you crack me up with that dream! I haven't had that one yet but I have had dreams where I was eating everything on a buffet or full sugar ice cream and even once I had a dream I snuck and ate a snickers bar. I don't even really like them but it sure tasted good in my dream!

My son actually tried to convince me the other day that I should weigh myself. He said that he would loook at the number and not tell me. I was tempted guys, but I didn't cave. I'm not weighing until this challenge is over. I am determined and it's so nice to have you all here suffering the pain with me!

Question for the day:What's that one problem spot on your body that you wish you could change RIGHT NOW?

For me it would definitely be my chest. It is just way to big for my body. I have lost believe it or not 10 inches off my chest but people keep asking me when I get to my goal weight if I will have reduction surgery. My mom just asked me that yesterday. I told her that it's coming down on its own and that I don't think I need to resort to surgery. It's starting to get on my nerves now because people make me feel like I look like Dolly Parton or something! I know I have a small waist (34) and my chest measures anywhere from a 42 to 44 DD, just depends on how I position the measuring tape. ;) I try to really focus on the chest exercises during my work outs in the hopes that I won't need to go under the knife.

Anyway, I'd love to hear what part of your body you'd like to change.

Interesting question Lisa ~ For me it would definetly be my stomach. I too have a big chest, 38C but I quite like it now but the stomach which I also feel it quite big I absolutely loathe. Since I started the challenge and all of the swimming I have been doing recently I really do notice a difference but there is still work to be done.

I have decided that I am going to alternate the swimming with time in the gym too.

I'm officially ending my challenge, so please take me off your group list. thanks

Liz, we're sorry to see you leave. I'll take your name off the list. Take care! :D

Lisa, sorry to be so late reporting in. I have NOT weighed so I'm still on track in the challenge. I was at the doctor's today and closed my eyes while I told the nurse I did NOT want to know the number on the scale. I just know she thought I was crazy - oh well!! :p

Hi girls!
Question: Well there is this flab on the inside of my knee area. Even when I lost weight before it stays there. But I'm like Lisa, no
surgery for this girl. I figure I can live with it, as long as it is not
life threatning.

Still doing good not weighing. Went to the grocery store tonight and I didn't even think about the scale until just know. Kind of funny now that I think about it.

July:D

another day off the scale :bounce:

One problem area is around my middle and my inner thighs. I guess since my stomach was stretched so badly from my children it is still flabby and with tons of stretch marks. My inner thighs rub together no matter how many squats I do. I'm not going to do anything differently though. I'll just keep working on it.

Here we are guys, another day scale free!!!

Doe - I've promoted you. I can understand you can't check in everyday. Good job, keep it up!!!!

Sheree - You're doing great and I know this isn't easy.

July - I have a dimple of fat on my left leg right at my knee. On top of that, there is another pocket of fat right about it where my thigh meets the knee. I don't care how much weight I lose or what size I can squeeze into, I've said it to myself over and over that I won't believe I've truly lost weight until both those fatty pockets are gone!!!

Have a great weigh free day everyone! You've all done very well!!!!! (any "Are you being served fans out there?)

LOL, Lisa! I could hear the echo of "Young Mr. Grace! Too funny!

My problem area? That would be me, I am THE problem area.:p

But since I am 52, I think it is a little too late for me to look like a supermodel, lol, so I am going for quality of life improvement. Hopefully, along the way, some of my extra food storage areas (fat pads) will disappear too.
