Stay Hydrated!! Super hot temperatures this summer

WDW cutting park hours is really impacting this as well. When the parks were open late it many people did not feel like they needed to stay in the parks at the hottest part of the day. Now? Many people feel they need to to justify the cost.

There are less benches and seating. No outdoor fans like even six flag has. And WDW has built entire new lands with no shade- Looking at you Toy Story Land.

WDW doesn’t control the weather but they could have invested in ways to improve guest experience and hopefully reduce heat related issues.

We were there May 19-26. Just a couple days into our trip, temps hit 93/95. Heard many people complaining of the heat already and saying it's only May.

Adults "should" know better but as an active adult that is outdoors on a regular basis it can happen to anyone. I unfortunately spent the afternoon in the ER during one of our Disney trips just for this reason. As others have said hydrate early and often, once you start feeling bad you are already too late.

Agreed. I was dehydrated in cool weather earlier this year because I was on vacation and walking 25,000 steps daily for a week and by the 6th day, was having side effects but since it was cool weather, didn't recognize immediately that it was dehydration until later. Luckily I was fine and didn't have any major issues and figured it out before anything bad happened.

Best phrase I heard a few years ago and use consistently...when at Disney, "drink water like it's your job".

I was at Epcot for a one-day visit four weeks ago and likely consumed 6-8 bottles of water from 8am-10pm. There was never a time that a bottle of water (with water in it) was not in my hands.

I guess my real point is that adults can research and prepare themselves to look for signs. Now if you don't pay attention to your bodies warning signs then there not much anyone can do. Kids and as one of the previous poster indicated pets have no clue.

Due to my wife being a teacher summer is really the only time for us to go so we deal. Would I rather go during the cooler month sure but I don't feel it's as bad as people make it out to be. I would just throttle my expectation of what can be accomplished. We drink a lot of water and take a lot of breaks which ironically always seem to end up in a merchandise shop.........My wife claims she doesn't plan it that way but the rest of the family know better.

Adults should know better however watch the kiddos they don't.
We should know better, that doesn't mean that we follow through on what we know. A couple of Labor Days ago I wasn't staying hydrated because I hate the taste of MK water and didn't take the time to buy a bottle of water. Long story short, I was trying to sign the bill at Plaza and I couldn't even hold onto the pen. I recovered by just drinking some water but it was scary and a refillable water bottle now follows me to the parks.

Just got back from Disney. Accuweather is your friend. Check the hourly temps and "feels like" temps. In early June it's usually bareable weather around 5 or 6pm. We did lounge around our resort and go to the pool and quick service etc. Try and duck in for shopping or dining during rainstorms. Drink water, neck fan or cooling towels.

I was just at Disney and I did pool days and then hit up the parks in the evening. Temps were lower and so were wait times. My resort pool was insanely busy every day so I assume other people were doing this too or doing a mid day pool break.
This is going to be our strategy for 6/21-6/25 I think. What time were you hitting the parks?;

Around 4-5 pm? Depending on how long it took me to shower after being at the pool. I have an AP so I don't mind being in the parks for only a few hours but the temp difference was very noticeable and totally worth it.

Sounds good 😊 We feel ok about having less park time this go around. We want to see the fireworks and night shows mostly and I am usually unmotivated to return in the evening if we do the morning rope drop/ afternoon break strategy. Thank you!

This is actually one of my biggest concerns with my September trip (that and hurricanes). I go from fine to very much NOT fine quickly. I also seem to have a blind spot when it comes to drinking liquids. If it is not in front of me I flat out forget. Heck, I often forget WITH it in front of me.

I think I may have to set an alarm or something.
