Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island tour questions

Alright, we went yesterday with our three kids, ages 12, 8 and just turned 4 and my inlaws. and had a blast! We left from Liberty State park in NJ and had an 11:00 time on the tickets we bought online from Statue Cruises. We arrived at 10:00 and were through security an on the ferry by 10:20. It costs $7 to park there.
We brought our own picnic lunch and ate it at the tables near the ice cream stand at Ellis Island. Then we toured Ellis Island and got the kids ice cream before taking the ferry over to the Statue. We went to the Statue of Liberty we rented a $2 locker to put the small cooler bag in that had the rest of our drinks in it as there is no food and beverages allowed inside the statue! If you are not planning to go inside you do not need to rent a locker. We were able to check the stroller for free inside the security tent that has the lockers in it.

Any questions please ask away!!!

My 12 year old DD and I were just there for the first time last week! As someone said earlier, the Crown tickets were sold out a couple of months ago, but we had tickets to the pedestal. We took the ferry from the NJ side, and went to Liberty Island first. We would have been able to breeze right on in, but we had to stop to put my daughter's backpack in a locker and a large tour group got in front of us...we had a LONG wait to go through security. I think I saw other people putting food/water in the lockers. Anyway-we LOVED visiting the Statue!! She was amazing. The 150 steps up to the pedestal top was so worth it in my opinion. My sister wanted to ride the elevator, as she's not in the best of shape, but the lady was rather rude and turned her away! If you are "able " to walk up the steps, apparently that's what they want you to do!

We bought lunch at the cafe by the gift shop and ate outside. Then we took the ferry to Ellis Island. My daughter really enjoyed the Wall outside with all of the names on it, and of course the really amazing view of NY.

Once back in NJ, we rode over to Carlo's Bakery, but the line was long (approx. 2 hours), so we just took pictures and then ate our canolis in little Italy instead! One last thing--my daughter LOVED visiting the Toys R Us in Times Square--we rode the indoor ferris wheel, which was very cool, and the LEGGO sculptures of the Empire State, Statue, Chrysler Building were all amazing! Have a great trip!

That lady IS the rudest NYC you-know-what that I have ever met.

I am quite sure she was the same lady that was VERY rude to us, and put us out on that MID level.

I may look fine, but I had surgery on my foot earlier this year, and due to having a bad foot and having to walk differently for so long, my knee was really bothering me. ( I was exhausted and in pain, seriously, after managing all those exterior flights of stairs back down in the hot sun.)

That woman needs FIRED!!!!!!

We were NOT the only people complaining about her to the staff back at the front entry of the statue pedestal as we entered to go thru the exhibits.

I swear, when I get a minute I am going online, contacting the National Park Service. And I am going to every other web-site that I can find... such as the NYC board on Tripadvisor to spread the word.

This is our Statue of Liberty!!!!

Americans and Foriegners from all over come to awe at her magesty (which we most certainly did!!! AMAZING!!!)

And to have this experienced to be marred and almost ruined by one mentally ill, rude, woman... (yes , I fully believe that she really has issues) is just not right. :sad2:

Yes, I am now going to report this in any way that I can find.
I hope the above poster will do the same.

I don't know if it will help.
But, I am not going to sit on this and not let my experience/voice be heard.

To the prev. poster...
I would have told that woman that I would be taking the elevator, and I would have dared her to try to physically block or touch me as I entered.
