This will be our first cruise and we are super excited! I’ve been doing a lot of research and I’m now questioning my choice of stateroom. We will be on the fantasy in stateroom 6108 which is midship towards the aft and is a verrandah room. I’m worried if I will have an obstructed view due to the lifeboats. Should I see if I can switch to a higher deck? I have tried to find reviews and pictures of my stateroom but I can’t seem to find any. Anyone that has stayed in that room or close to it, how bad is the view?

Obstructed view of what? The lifeboats are on deck 5 (hanging above deck 4), and tucked into the side of the ship. The only obstruction would be if you are looking straight down. And that's pretty minimal.

Here's some room reports on that room. A couple from the Dream (identical to Fantasy): http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/roomreport.cfm?Room=6108

We had a room on deck 6 on the dream. The lifeboats don't block anything except looking down as PrincessShmoo posted.

The picture from PrincessShmoo is pretty much the same view I had on Deck 8....if you look out you see the ocean, look straight down and you see the lifeboats

We’ve always stayed on deck 6. The lifeboats have never bothered us. These photos are from 6104 on the Fantasy.

On one of our cruises, just after the safety drill, we got a quick tour of a lifeboat...very interesting and good to know. There are so many places on the ship to view so much that the lifeboats are not an issue. Happy sailing!!!

How odd, seems like we are the odd ones out, but the lifeboat really bothered me and I felt like it obstructed the view considerably in Cabin 6594 on the Dream. When you were seated, the yellow lifeboat blocked our view about halfway up the clear railings. It basically turned our clear railing into a partial whitewall one, except bright yellow instead of white so harder to overlook. Our kids are little too, so from their vantage point down low it was even more of an obstruction, and I had to hold them up so they could see, which made me nervous. I will not stay on deck 6 midship again because of it. But I guess it must be pretty subjective because it doesn't seem to bothered a lot of folks here.

OP -- I would say if you think it might bother you, stay one floor higher.

This was our stateroom 2 years ago....the room and view was perfect!! :) Exactly what they said above....you are usually looking out. If you're looking down you can see the lifeboats. One port day, we were able to see the lifeboat drill!!
