State of Fast Pass Return (or replacement)

The only thing i'll point out, is that disney has tried to cater to the long term guests with DVC, or maybe they're more counting on locking them in long term.
A lot of DVC members would disagree with that. We aren't DVC, couldn't ever justify the cost among other reasons. We have in the past been AP holders and were always satisfied with those perks, but of course that's all gone now and who knows what the new AP's will be like. I'm the last man standing in my family as an AP holder with a voucher I have yet to redeem. If I hadn't bought it way back before the big price hike, I would've gotten a refund. As it is, I'll hold on to it and see how this all shakes out before doing anything.

I remember that price hike. We were at Disney, and ours were expiring that week and we were contemplating renewing them, in fact we had agreed id go up to the front desk the next morning and renew all 4 of ours. Wife saw the breaking news, and we noped out on it real quick. It was a large increase for us.

New DVC owners can't buy APs (or any discounted tickets for that matter - and with no estimate on when or if we will be able to), can't access tables in wonderland, have a malfunctioning website, are subject to 50% borrowing restrictions, the glut of backed up points from the pandemic has availability totally shot... the list goes on.

Sure. Some of these things aren't necessarily Disney's "fault". However, I wouldn't exactly say we are getting the royal treatment right now. We are locked in, but definitely not catered to at the moment.

maybe i used the wrong words, what i mean by cater to them, was offer them an option to purchase into it long term, not as in give them all sorts of perks and things.

Ah, gotcha.

I'll give you that. DVC provides countless ways to spend a bunch of money :rotfl2:

I still like mine though. I just am really salty about the lack of AP news.

Unfortunately pent up travel demand will see Disney through whatever they want to do. I mean, look at all the trips being planned right now in spite of all this. They're semi-unaccountable right now.

I agree with this. And many are just happy to get in I suppose after a year of lock downs.

I'm sure they have challenges bringing some things back, but currently why hurry if it's this packed-not that they shouldn't hurry IMO.

For us seasoned AP holders-more availability is an improvement, but we are also in less of a hurry to wait in long attraction lines as we will just go again soon enough.

We will go simply for HEA and Ice cream/shopping or F&W booths, but indeed prefer FP available in some form as it is not currently worth waiting so long for most attractions.

For the people going in the next few weeks I hope they bring some sort of system in. Cause those wait times today are bad.

We've just adjusted to the fact that we're likely not going to have any way to get around the long lines. We'll just skip the rides that have an hour or more wait and focus on what we can do, but it will certainly color my opinion on returning for a good long time. While we're normally rope droppers, we aren't comfortable fighting the masses at rope drop and have no plans to even attempt it. But no matter how positive a spin we put on it, all the pixie dust in the world won't change the fact that Disney intentionally chose to allow this to happen.

i think you'll be ok without rope drop. Last month, tons of people were rope dropping, and as the parks were opening at 8am, after the first few days, it was just too early for us. We noticed that times ballooned right at rope drop, and then would settle in a little after that. I feel bad for you that you're going to be there with increased capacity and without fast passes, couple that with the fl heat, i fear thats a nightmare.

You’re probably right since it seems that’s what they’re doing for everything else.

Except that introducing a new, shiny PAID system to avoid lines isn't exactly a positive to show off for the start of their 50th. It will be interesting to see the spin they put on it though. I think it's absolutely not ready to go. A pretty reliable source here says it's just not passing the tests it needs to pass in order to implement. It may well be that they're close by now, haven't had any updates in a while though.

Feel bad for you, esp the summer. At least in the winter the 80's and sun would help when waiting for things.

They have to be feeling pressure to do something soon, just hoping they will.

We just wanted to see the fireworks one more time, but it sure is a pricey event for just that and even that is a bit of a worry now with the crowd levels I see. We'll see how it goes, but thanks for the first hand experience. It's just not how I wanted our first trip back to be and it's frustrating that it didn't have to be that way. I know a lot of people hate the idea of a paid system, but I'd be thrilled to get even that.....and yup, that's how Disney hooks you.
