Starting to panic with packing for 8/17

We go to Disney twice a year but only need
very casual clothing. We leave on Sunday for
a week before the cruise and must pack for
both. The teenager won't wear formal clothing,
nor do we want to buy any for him, he won't
wear them again. Can you 'feel' the panic?
I've taken ALL your suggestions and it seems
like we have so much stuff. We are all getting
anxious (a little too anxious) - DH must work
two more days.....so much to think about.
Friends, help me relax (oh, yea, that will happen
with a 16 yr. old and 10 yr. old)!!!!!!!

Don't worry!!! I am onboard the Magic as we speak, and I am glad I packed so much less them last time. During the day you only need bathing suites and cover ups.

I wore Capri's and blouses on casual nights and brougt one long dress for formal night and one nice pansuit for semi-formal. Could wear the same dress shoes for both formal nights, brought two other pair of casual sandals, one pair of sneakers, and my beach sandals. Brought a light, white jacket, but only need to wear it one night.

Brought one sport coat for DH, three dockers slacks, two dress shirts, two ties, a few pair of shorts, some t-shirts for pool area, some pull over shirts for casual dinner and lots of underwear!!! He had one pair of dress shoes that he wore every night. One pair of sneakers and his beach sandals.

My two teen girls packed their own bags with tons of stuff (like most teens). Everyone in our family (5 of us) each was allowed to bring one suitcase with them. Whatever they could fit in that suitcase, they could bring.

My teen son 17, was actually looking forward to dressing up this cruise. We recently bought him a suite and brought that plus two dress shirts, two ties and his dress shoes. The was fine. On casual nights he wore kahki pants and nice tops. Most of the time during the day he was in his bathing suit. He also had one pair of sneakers, and his beach sandals. (he lost his favorite baseball cap up on deck due to the wind, just blew off his head into the water!)

REally, whatever you think you need, leave less home.

I packed a collapsible cooler but found out when I got to Mr. Sanchos beach that they would not let us consume the drinks we brought from the ship (canned soda). They wanted you to buy their stuff.

I also brought a water bottle that I would not bring again, as I kept going to the water station on Deck 9 and using their cups.

We will be aboard with you but I have girls. Ages 15 and 13 they are very different, girls I mean. They have been packing all week and they are each up to 2 suitcases and 1 just for shoes. I will have to pull in the strings soon. 1 suitcase per person and 1 carryon.
We just came back from 8 days at Disney and 5 in North Carolina and can not wait for the cruise to relax.
Last year we cruised with boys and they wore docker type pants and collared shirts and were just fine. On the formal night they did wear a dress shirt and tie but no jacket and were not out of place.
This cruise it will just be the 4 of us. Last cruise we were with a party of 42 and in Feb 03 we will be with a party of 66.

Hi Minnie's Guy,

We're in the same boat (no pun intended ). We're leaving tomorrow for WDW and then the cruise, I feel like I've been packing all week!! Trying to decide what we need for WDW and the other stuff for the cruise. I was able to get it all in 3 suitcases, but we'll each have a carryon too! We are also bringing a stroller for my 5yo DD to use at WDW, not sure what I"m gonna do with it on the cruise.

Can't wait to get going, are we gonna have a DIS meet on the cruise? Anybody interested? Maybe we can set something up. If not, I'll be on the lookout for lime green ribbons !!

we're also on the same cruise and 15 yo son refuses to go formal, best he will do is decent pants with nice shirt and tie. the rest of us will dress up. you 've got to pick your battles and this one just isn't worth it. bye

Too bad my dad is no longer around to become involved in this question of formal wear. He wore a full suit and tie to work everyday. Usually wool and always unlined. When the dear man returned home from his daily commute (45-minutes on the LIRR - if it ran on-time and up to 2 hours if it didn't - lol) plus the NYC subways and, of course, walking, he would stop to putter in the yard before coming into the house. Dressed in his workday best, the dear man would pull weeds or edge the grass, water or sometimes just inspect the plants. He was so darn comfortable when he wore formal clothes. As a matter of fact, I never saw him wear a pair of bluejeans. Dockers? Never in a million years. If Brooks Brothers didn't stock 'em, he didn't wear 'em. And if they did stock 'em, he still wouldn't wear 'em. Needless to say, I don't take after my dad in this regard. Even lined wool pants are uncomfortable to me. Thus, I will be wearing Dockers along with a dress shirt and tie.

Looking forward to our first cruise. Can't believe it is now less than a week!
