Starting To Get Very Concerned With ...

Then list your time with the timeshare store and sell it. No need to worry. As for the rest of us 10 year owners we are more than pleased with our purchase.

I never said I was unhappy, just concerned! Now if you want to buy it for lets say $150 per point to add to your rental busines, then I would be willing to sel.

I'm with the op.. I think the question is valid.. where does $2.5 million go in housekeeping? THat is a LOT of little Mickey soap and shampoo!! I'd like to see a breakdown of the costs.. anyone have any idea where this info can be found?

We just got back from our first visit home.. and only had minor problems.. the first ressie was absolutely flawless from check in to check out.. 368 was clean and fresh.

We leave for the weedend and then check into 465 & 463 (lockoff) 463 had NO problems.. 465 had some issues. the dryer screen was gone, and a dish and some utensils were missing.. but, everything else was in good shape (save the carpet is in serious need of replacement). I had barely hung up the phone when housekeeping presented the missing items. I didn't even make it from the door to the chair before engineering showed up with the dryer screen.

The ONLY complaint I had related to the cleanliness of the villas, was my neighbors leaving the trash outside the door. I got REAL irritated with the family down the hall leaving dirty diapers in the hallway.. (not even in a bag). On the reverse side, it was nice to greet several of my neighbors in the trashroom too.

I stay in WDW and DVC resorts a lot and I can honestly say they are the cleanest and most well maintained resorts I have ever stayed in. Yes every so often there is some wear and tear or at times even worse problems with a Disney resort room, but considering the number of people these units service in the course of a year, I find their maintenance and upkeep on a whole to be unbelievable! In the few circumstances where the room or villa is really not clean, not in proper working order etc., Disney goes above and beyond to correct the problem as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
I have always been very satisfied with the customer service/room satisfication etc I have received at all Disney resorts we have stayed at, and I have stayed in many, believe me! LOL!
I am not concerned about my investment in DVC in the slightest. Matter of fact I am planning on adding on again sometime next year! :Pinkbounc

It's not very often I agree with DeeP on her posts but on this one I give her Five Stars and say DITTO.

i just have some comments regarding those who seem to have a problem with the negative reports, and as a result start griping that those types of people need to adjust their attitude or something.

you know, sometimes people don't go out of their way to inspect things or go out of their way to look for negative things, but just some problems grab your attention on their own, and they're impossible to ignore.
(such as you take a shower or use the sink and see the bathtub or sink all clogged and not draining, you go to make yourself a cup of coffee or ice water and find the cups are dirty or a dead bug in the coffee carafe, you go about your business as normal but wake up with fireant bites, you're walking to your room and see unsightly bags of trash in the hallways outside other guests' doors, you walk into your villa to see dents/holes in the wall staring in your face)

as for the housekeeping issues...
in theory the only group of people who "inspect" a villa to make sure it is ready for the next guest is housekeeping.
they are the only ones that enter the room in between guests.
if they see the sink is clogged, they should tell maintenance.
if they see ants crawling around the corner while they're vacuuming, they should report it to pest control.
i don't know, maybe it's not their job to do this.
but then whose job is it?

some things are their (housekeeping's) job, but they just aren't doing it. such as making sure the cups and coffee maker are clean before the next guest. (i've had the bad luck of having dirty/greasy/smelly cups in every studio i've stayed in, plus dead bugs in one coffee carafe. this never happened to me when i stayed in regular Disney hotels)

i don't know, i think in general there appears to more maintenance issues than housekeeping issues. have we ever done a poll about people have maintenance issues (burnt out light bulbs, clogged sinks/tubs, leaky faucets, any other type of damage to the unit/appliances, etc.)?

This "theme" in posts of if you don't like it just sell is very annoying. Anyone has the right to express concern, this is an appropriate place to do so.

I have a hard time undestanding why people would do this. It seems to me that if housekeeping has to provide an extra trash service, the room should be charged a fee. Just my opinion.

Well written Disneyberry. I understand that some would rather not acknowledge or dwell on the negative, but when it is obvious that there are some issues they shouldn't be ignored or brushed under the carpet so to speak. Having some problems with maintenance or housekeeping at the DVC resorts in no way reflects one's love for the parks or the magic. I also have had some housekeeping issues and no I wasn't looking for any problems. Now to avoid this for our next trip I am asking for a supervisor to walk the unit with me and anything "not clean enough" will be requested to be recleaned. I will also pull apart the bed to make sure it is clean. Some would say this is being picky, but I bet the same people would not have liked sleeping in a bed with a dirty child's sock in it that didn't belong to their family. :scared1: :faint: Gross! I have not had any problems staying at the CR both garden wings and tower or at the YC. Those rooms were clean. I have said in the past that I don't mind cleaning up my family's dirt but refuse ever to clean anyone elses again.

I know everyone has a different standard by which they live and that is fine. But when there is a problem it needs to be addressed and fixed so no one in the future has the same thing happen to them. We had stayed at the BC 2 summers ago and had put some bagged snacks in a duffle. After 2 days at the BC I went to go in the duffle and not only found the sealed snack bags but a BIG roach in there as well. Where it came from I don't know but I don't like having roaches in my room. So I can imagine how I would feel if fireants would have been biting me in my sleep. Not only would I have been upset but I would have also needed a trip to the ER as I am severely allergic to fireants and need an injection right away. When we used to live in the South I needed an epipen with me at all times. I don't live around fireants anymore so it hasn't been an issue for years. I never thought I would have to put that back on my list of "must haves" to bring with me down to Florida!

I'm afraid I would have had to leave a note to them with remarks about thier lack of consideration towards fellow guests. Membership purchase or renting does not screen for reasonable manners. I wonder what prison or third world country without running water the familiy was recently released from.

I think Disney and DVC needs to be held to a high standard of quality. When it's lacking, we need to bring attention to it to people who can make a difference. Excessive compulsive pickiness? No, but certainly high quality standards, especially at BCV, one of the absolute best gems of the entire DVC selection, second only to the vero beach resort. Even if lower standards were permissible at the OKW resort (ie. no interior hallways), they should certainly never be tolerated at the BCV resort.

I would have to agree that $2.5M in housekeeping is extremely absorbitant. $12k per year per room is $33 a day. For a service that is most likely used once every 4 days. That is @$120 per housekeeping visit! Of course that is a very simplistic view, but it isn't far off. Given the level of service I would definitely appreciate seeing a more detailed explanation of how that money is being spent.

I agree, but I didn't think you did. I was under the impression you thought renters had worse manners.

I'm wondering what makes VB or BCV have higher standards than the other DVC resorts. While OKW is different, it should be held to the same standards as any other DVC resort. Trash outside the doors is unacceptable to me, period. One can prefer, or even like, one resort better than another. I have my preferences as do most others. That's different than saying one resort IS better than anther.

Of course, we have no way of knowing whether someone leaving dirty diapers outside the door is an owner or a renter. It's not as bad, but there have been evidence of posts on this forum indicating poor manners from owners. We've seen posting false information as factual and then when presented with evidence not correcting it. Rationalizing why discourtesy and harm to others is Ok in all kinds of areas, smoking, pool courtesy, parking practices to name only a couple. I do think there are stronger incentives for owners to conduct themselves better especially for maintenance issues given they are responsible for dues and know they will be back. I believe on one thread a Timeshare manager even shared owners were more likely to report problems over renters. But reading posts from other owner rationalizing why harming and being disrespectful to others is OK and the "it's all about me" is swaying that view.

Your right, even the older OKW should probably be held to as high quality standards. This should probably apply to trash outside an outside door as well as in a hallway even if it's less noticible. Even if pool slides and lifeguards are different, that shouldn't matter. Good point, even older OKW shouldn't be allowed to slip behind, especially with the resorts great advantage of larger rooms to keep to high cleanliness standards. I have not read as many cleanliness or trash problems at older OKW as at other resorts, they must be already doing a better job.
