Starting to be a little nervous about solo trip

I've done 3 solo trips now. I've also done 2 trips with friends, 1 with my sister, and 2 with my husband and step-son. Cannot begin to tell you how exhilarating it is to do the trip solo! I loved every single second of it and cannot wait to do another one by myself. I LOVED the flexibility to do what I wanted. I remember I had planned to go to Epcot for the day and maybe do the world showcase in the afternoon. I ended up deciding I wanted to sleep in that day, and then got to Epcot around 11:30. I went straight to the World Showcase, and ended up having a drink and a little snack at every country, and I did the passport book and got a free little souvenir at each country. I watched the fireworks that night from a table at the English restaurant (cannot for the life of me remember the name), and I ended up meeting SO many people. I stayed onsite, so I didn't have to worry about driving, but honestly, I LOVED it.
Last time we went, it was with my hubby and son, and oh my...stressful! One of my favourite rides for relaxation or to get out of the sun is the "time carousel" (I don't know what its actually called, its in MK close to Space Mountain). Anyways, I could stay on that ride over and over and over. I don't know why I like it so much, I just find it kind of interesting. My husband hated it. He refuses to go back on it. My step son thought it was "lame" (his words, not mine). I was ok with their opinions because I can see it not being for everyone, but it reiterated to me that I really appreciated my solo time.

I had days that I wanted to just skip the parks and go shopping. Or hang out by the pool all day. Or eat at an expensive restaurant. Or go to the comedy club. Or go on silly rides that a my teenage step son wouldn't be caught dead on. And seriously, when you travel with teenagers, how many burger joints can you hit? I just love ME time. But, I've always been this way, this is why I have chosen to not have any of my own children.

Don't worry - you'll love it. You will enjoy every single second you are there. And hey - enjoy those single rider lines! They are the best!

One other thing....I ended up meeting up with a couple of other single travellers from this website and it was great! You finally get to put a face to people that you've been chatting with.

Love reading your posts! My friend invited to join her on a work thingyin feb.. She will be attending a conference at the grand floridian ( which I have never stayed at only in my dreams!) , from wed-fri. I will be flying down to join her for a long weekend. I will be on my own for 2 days. Starting to get anxious... I hate flying first off, so the funny thing is I had an airline credit for a work trip that needed to get used so I booked myself in FIRST CLASS:worship::rotfl:

Soo send good vibes that I don't chicken out and any helpful hints will be greatly appreaciated:worship:

I love hearing how much fun everyone had on their solo trips. I'm so tired of my friends/family/coworkers looking at me strange when I tell them I'm going solo.

I'm so excited for my trip!!!

I am so glad I found this board. This is my first post here and it seems like a great place to start. I am happy to see there are other solo-ers out there, like myself.

I lived in CA, 10 miles from Disneyland, for over 3 years. I just moved to Atlanta and have planned my first solo trip to Disney World for 9 days in May. Now, I had gone to Disneyland solo at least 100 times. (I have the parking passes to prove it, too. ;)) But WDW is a totally different animal, since I am going to be staying there. I am SO excited.. I feel like a 8 year old boy again, instead of a 45 y.o. man.

2 years ago, I planned a week vacation to WDW with my sister as a way of giving ourselves special event after a few years of family issues. We stayed at the Grand Floridian and did the Platinum Dining Plan. I spent the time planning everything around her, because we were celebrating her birthday.. IN JULY. It was awesome, but not much "me" time.

This time, I am staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, again using the Platinum Dining Plan, and have spent the last week planning all the tours and things *I* want to do. It's going to be so great not to have to worry about anyone else's desires/issues. Doing Disneyland solo was so much fun and I never got "strange looks" or "pity" from anyone when I was alone. WDW is going to be so much better. I've never had the chance to do WDW on my own. I may never go with anyone again ;)
