DH & I are steaming along on the South Beach Diet. For the first 2 wks. in Phase 1, he lost 14 lbs. & I lost about 9. Now we can add-back-in some foods. I'm so excited by a piece of fruit per day (not in A.M., still no bananas). We had oatmeal for breakfast / no added sweetness. I liked it, DH did not. We have a cup of blueberries to share for afternoon snack. Unlike the "mashed potato" thread, we like the South Beach (Cauliflower) Mashed potatoes & will probably have them for dinner tonight. DSs are less thrilled with them & refer to them as that "Weird Cauliflower" thing, but they still eat them.I'm happy to be in Phase 2, but I guess I'll really miss the rapid weight loss.

Congratulations on your weight loss! It sounds like you and your husband are off to a great start!

Don't worry so much about the speed of the weight loss. As long as either the scale is still moving down or your measurements are getting smaller, that's all that's important. Numbers are one thing, but how you feel is really the most important thing!

Good luck and keep WISHing!

Well done on your weight loss ~ Looks as though you and your DH are on the road to success!!!!

Thanks for the update! Sorry to hear your DH didn't like the oatmeal too much! ;) I think it's an aquired taste, I used to HATE oatmeal and now I really enjoy it! Are you using instant or the stuff you have to cook a while? Or is it just that it's too bland tasting for him?

Congrats on the weight loss! Even though things might slow down now, you know you are burning up those calories and treating your body to some very healthy stuff! So just keep imagining how much better you will feel as time goes by and how much healthier you are making your bodies!

Good luck and enjoy! :)

Hi Sueg I started Phase two on Sunday. I think I must have lost around 8 pounds on Phase one plus I am exercising. I have added back some fruit but still no bread or sugars. I had bran with blueberries and no fat milk for breakfast yesterday and it tasted so sweet to me. But it was so good it's easy to forget how healthy it is for you. I'm so glad to be able to have my granny smith apples back! I think the thing I miss the ost is my pasta. I hope to get to a health food store soon to get some healthier pasta. I figure when I have a cheat moment it's straight to an Italian restaurant!!

s&k's mom,
It's funny, but both DH & I miss pasta more than anything else. (Well maybe not brownies) I plan to go to Whole Foods & get some whole grain pasta, but I still think we have to go easy. Gone are the days when DH & I share a lb. of pasta. I'll keep you posted. SGG

Yes please keep me posted. I have had a fleeting moment of throwing myself on top of the pasta section at the grocery store with a bottle of sauce!

Doing Atkins and pasta is DEFINATELY what I will miss the most. More than the potatoes, more than the brownies, more than anything.

Ummmmm...pasta. *sigh*

Maybe we could have a Phase II meet and greet at the closet Olive Garden to all of us and have a pasta party!

Congratulations on making it through Phase I. You both did fabulous on your weight loss.

Keep up the great work!

Melanie

I started Phase II today! I lost about 5lbs. during Phase I. I was already dieting before starting South Beach, so I'm happy with my loss.

I had oatmeal this morning too. I used SF DaVinci syrup (vanilla) to sweeten it. It tasted great.

Congratulation to all you losers!
:D

DH is Italian/Sicilian and makes our pasta gravy from scratch. Just last night, DS(16 eats like a vacuum, never gains weight) was asking when we'll be having meatballs again. Trying to sound cheery, we said that we were trying the So.Beach meatloaf on Wed. & if its good, we'll adapt it into meatballs. DS asks about ingredients and when I mention oatmeal, instead of (Progresso) breadcrumbs, he just shook his head & sighed. I guess we could just eat "some" sausage and leave the real meatballs for DSs.--SIGH
