Star's Hollow ~ The Gilmore Girls

Now I just need to watch them in order to actually catch the whole plot, not just bit here and there. I am hoping DBF will order series one for me soon. I was looking for it on the net, one site was stupidly over priced for series 1 even though the rest were cheap, another had it cheap but out of stock but luckily third site lucky...

LOL..You sound just like me!:) ..I lOVE the USA!...but I live in the UK like you..:sad1:

I would emigrate tomorrow ...but..My DS is 16 now and doing his GCSEs..after that it will be A levels..then UNI...And then my DD will be starting her GCSEs...I can't leave once the kids are grown because I would never live in another country to my kids..:)

My DH works in london for an American bank and could possibly transfer..But we can't ...so sad..:sad1:

I dream of a lovely american town..

How about you Ariel?...You and your BF are young enough to make the leap before kids come along...have you thought about it?

I would absolutely love to move over there, and my bf and I have talked about it on several occasions. The problem is I am really close with my family and don't think I could live that far from them and not see them regularly. The thing is my parents and little sister would love to move there too but my Mum won't leave my older sister and she doesn't want too :sad1:. And then theres my grandparents.
And if we were going to move I would never know where to move to, there are so many beautiful places, how do you choose :confused3

You should just convince your kids that after they are all done at Uni that they really want to move to the US. I'm sure that shouldn't be too hard, just showcase all the wonderful things the US has to offer :thumbsup2

You guys are funny! DH and I were going to move to Chiswick 2 years ago for his work but we ended up having DD instead. About the time the company got around to oking the move I was 8 months pregnant so we couldn't move, then the boys were almost done with the school year. After they got out for summer break DH quit that job. I still want to move to Europe but none of us can decide were to live. LOL

DS12 and DH want England, DS8 wants Belgium, DS7 wants to live in Tokyo with my brother, me I don't care, I'm flexible, just give me good schools and nice parks.

TBH its only America I want to move to. If I went anywhere else in Europe I would have to learn a whole other language. And plus its not so bad in the UK, we get free education, free health care, and some people even get free university (if they dont its around £2000 compared to the millions it is in the US). So its not all bad. But since I am done with education for now I'm free to go to my favorite place :thumbsup2

Unfortunately, nothing is free in the US, especially not health care.
The grass always does seem greener on the other side, doesn't it?
Have you been to the US before? If so, which areas have you visited?

Yes I have been to Florida 4 times and we went to Atlanta and Pigeon Forge this summer which we all absolutely loved. If we moved I would love to live in Florida to be close to the beautiful beaches (I love Miami and the Crystal River area) but couldn't deal with the hurricanes. And I love the look of New England but couldn't deal with the extreme coldness in winter. I think somewhere around Pigeon Forge would be perfect for us, proper seasons that aren't too extreme and lots of natural beauty. Oh and not too far from the mouse either ;) But if I could find Star's Hollow of course thats where I would be :cool1:

I didn't really think that you meant it in a bad way. I really do understand because I myself am a huge fan!!
I hope you find a beautifully wrapped set under your tree!

Thanks for the hope. :)

I didn't realize there was so many Gilmore Girls fans. I think we should make this the Official Gilmore Girls Thread so all us fans can chat about this brilliant show. Oh and how we wish we lived in Star's Hollow and our quest to find it :rolleyes1

Ok who is up for it :jumping1:

There did used to be an official Gilmore Girls thread, and it's fun to read through as you watch the shows. I was very late to the game so I didn't take part, just read through up to each show as I watched. I so wanted to comment, but my comments would have been oddly late. :)

Here's the thread...

A new one is fine by me, although since the show has been over for a while now, it might be hard to keep going. You should start from the beginning and comment as you go, and we'll join in. :goodvibes

The last post of that thread was in '07. I started one a number of months ago, but it ended quickly.
I think this one will be fun since ariel2007 is really new to the series and we will get a chance to relive the series with her.

This is one of my favorite shows, and an odd show out because I am usually into shows like LOST, or Buffy, and Deadwood/Rome from HBO. The writing and characters are so well done that I was sucked into their world.

I grew up in a small village with hills and pretty autumn colors, a white church steeple, small market, and everyone was familiar with one another. Suttons Bay, Michigan, and the surrounding Leelanau peninsula are like Stars Hollow. The peninsula has its own micro-climate that matches the northeastern states.

I am so thrilled to see this thread.
Yes, Stars Hollow seems to be the perfect town in which to live. I always wished that I could live in a small town like it.
Gilmore Girls is one of my favorite shows. Every once in a while, I watch it on ABC Family, while I'm folding laundry. The funny thing is, I have the entire series on DVD, but still enjoy seeing it on tv.
At one time, I heard a rumor that they were going to have a one time tv movie to finish off the story where they left off. I am still hoping that it will happen.

im the same way! i have all the seasons on dvd (minus one disk due to friend losing it) and i still watch it religiously on abc fam.., my dog even sit and watchs it! she will wake me up at 11 and get all antsy at the tv if it isnt on at 5! even on the weekends!!

How about a question to start...

Who is your favorite, most well-played character?

It is SOOO tough for me. Maybe Sookie, just hilariously acted by Melissa McCartney. But then there was Kirk, especially when Luke is burning the food, or Mrs. Kim. SO hard to choose!

But in the end, for me it has to be Emily; so well-played by Kelly Bishop!

That is such a hard question!! Kirk is hysterical, Emily is so obnoxious that I love her, Lorelai with her witty comebacks and Michel with his vain, snobby remarks and Sookie so cooky. I would never be able to choose. just one.

At the end of last week, I watched the one where Emily had botched laser surgery and she needed Lorelai to drive her around in that huge suv. Is everyone in the US up to the same episode?

Oh this sounds like our nearest hit on our quest to find Star's Hollow so far :thumbsup2. Now you have made me want to go there.

I think I like Lorelai best, she is just so sarcastic and funny. And her and Rory's relationship is not only so cool and inspiring, they really make me laugh. I also love Sooki, and Emily, although I'm glad my Mum is nothing like her. Saying that I love all the characters.

The ones that I have been watching at the moment are the ones where Luke finds out he has a daughter (oh and I think April is a really good character too, she is just so strange :lmao:), where Lorelai books her wedding and Rory goes back to Yale after her break.
I loved how when Rory came back after her and Lorelai stopped talking and Lorelai had to go into the diner and do a fake drum roll (which everyone thought was a helicopter) and announce her to Luke. It was just so funny and was so typical of their relationship. And then they order one of everything each... food always seems to factor a lot in their relationship, and in big portions. I want to know how they stay so skinny. Then they go to the Inn and Sooki cooks them loads more :lmao:
It had thanksgiving and they were all at the inn with snow outside and roaring fires inside and a table full of delicious food. If looked so perfect :goodvibes

Ok, its cold and frosty outside, but unfortunately no snow for us yet :sad1:. So I have settled down on the sofa with a nice cup of tea and popped on the TV for my daily dose of the Gilmore Girls... I love this time of day.

Well yesterday I saw an amazingly funny episode where Lorelai and Rory go for Friday dinner with Emily and Richard for the first time since Rory left their house. The dinner goes through a series of arguments over just about everything that has been a source of conflict between the four during the show so far, Lorelai not marrying Christopher, her parents trying to come between her and Luke, Rory shouting at Emily and leaving without telling them, Emily trying to timeshare a plane, Emily and Richard not supporting Lorelai on the Rory issue, and with each argument came great laughter for me. Mainly from Lorelai's sarcastic wit and her and Rory's disdain from having to join Friday night dinner every week again.

Today's episode is only part way through but I am already chuckling at the thought of Lorelai dressed in her own Yale tracksuit, and Paris holed up in her Hitler like bunker cooking soup whilst the rest of the paper scheme to over throw her outside. Can't wait for the rest :thumbsup2
