Starbucks Seating

it was also tight and crammed.. Only place we would ever sit in there was on the back wall counter bar.

Yes, really tight. ;)
~LOL @ both of you. I don't get this whole "tight space" space thing. Why do you need "more space" to just be thrown a cup and led out the door? :lmao:

Grab your iced coffee and go grab a seat in COP lol
:rotfl:

lol there's no relaxing in magic kingdom!!
~Truer words have never been spoken! :yay:

Here too in Philly. There are never any tables and never any parking either!!
~No tables & no parking??? LOL. :lmao:

~Here are pics of our local Starbucks -- cozy with lots of seating, all of them look like this, even the drive-thru locations.

No I didn't misunderstand.

You said they took the seats out "for no reason". I simply said there is a reason, and maybe a good one, and we just don't know what it is.

You are implying that you won't be going to Starbucks because there is no place to sit. You are the one we've been discussing (if you like to call it arguing, fine) this with about the seating, no?

So I said, not to worry, now that it is Starbucks, I'll be going there plenty to "take your place" so to speak, whereas I didn't before.

They'll be fine, and probably have more revenue than before, is my point since this is how this all started.

How is that misunderstanding?

Here was my original post: " Anyone know why they got rid of all the seating in the Main Street Bakery and the Fountainview Cafe when they changed over to Starbucks? It stinks to not have an air-conditioned place to sit (when the temp. is in the 90s) while enjoying an iced coffee."

There is nowhere in there where I am saying I'm not going back. As a matter of fact, I will absolutely be going back. I love my coffee! :)

So again, you are mistaken. I just posed a question and then later on said that it would be nice to have place to sit. For you to tell me that Disney doesn't need to explain themselves to me is a ludicrous statement for a simple question.

But it's okay. I'm not mad ;)

1) With the mind control that Starbucks has on customers, I seriously doubt this.
2) Will you say that with little chance of a seat, you will give up Starbucks?
3) If so, I doubt many others would feel the same way.
4) Look at all the inquires, even questions about using SB Rewards & Gift Cards.
5) As for me, give me a cup of Folgers or Duncan's and I am a happy camper.

* Duncan's is made by Folgers, with a slight roasting difference.

I actually don't like Starbucks coffee, but if it's my only choice, I'm not gonna cry about it. Their Joffreys coffee is not that bad though...it was all over the resorts and such.

I mean, if Casey's had 7-11 coffee or Bustelo, I'd go there instead, but if all I have is Starbucks, then gimme a venti whatever. Lol

So what would your proposal be to create the seating space? Remove some line space? Remove counter space? Remove space from the store next door? I'm not saying they shouldn't have seating but I just wonder what everyone's suggestion would be.

Laugh all you want, you don't even make sense. I was referring to the original bakery not having a lot of space to begin with. Those tables from the old bakery are like a foot in diameter and were tightly packed. That's what I was referring to. The old bakery never "said"... come in sit down. And it certainly doesn't now either LOL. And I don't know where your Starbucks are, but mine don't look like that here. At least not in my immediate neighborhood.

I don't need more space. It doesn't bother me one bit to get my PSL and go right back outside and about my business.

Good!! LOL I thought you had made a comment somewhere along the lines of not liking it enough that you probably wouldn't go in there. I guess I was wrong. So to whoever said that, not to worry, I will go there plenty enough for both of us, and then some. LOL

~Hi DebbieB! Great question(s) -- I really had to think about this. It's easy to complain and point out flaws but far more difficult to come up with better solutions.

~I don't have a solution and I don't know what Disney could have done differently. My comments are just my observations of the message Disney is sending to me as a consumer and theme park patron.

~A simple upgrade to the bakery in order to facilitate the addition of Starbucks coffee with the intent of accommodating and not replacing the Bakery Menu would have been ideal, imo -- no confusion, no take-away, just "plussing" -- an approach adopted by Walt that has been a glowing reflection of his legacy within the parks.

~With that said, I don't think it would have been feasible or practical for Disney to host both the Bakery and offer a full Starbucks menu. So, it had to be one or the other. Disney made a wise choice by opting for "the other" - to the dismay of some fans. So, the final result is a gutted bakery replaced with a coffee shop entirely void of the chic characteristics associated with coffee house culture.

~I also had to step back and take into account some of the challenges Disney may have encountered by incorporating Starbucks into MK. The relationship between the Disney and Starbucks is odd because the characteristics and corporate culture that surrounds Starbucks goes against the grain of what Disney Parks represent.

~Disney does not want guests relaxing, listening to music, surfing the internet or just pass the time while taking two hours to consume their four dollar drink. So, the concept of chairs or sitting areas in Disney Starbucks is a definite no-no. It just would not work.

~A brand new Starbucks location in Fantasyland could have been fabulous -- especially if they played up the Mermaid theme.

ve7iv6.png

~But the problem with this is that Starbucks drinks in the New Fantasyland would have easily upstaged and overshadowed Disney's heavily promoted LeFou's Brew concoction AKA Disney's "answer" to Universal's Butterbeer. LOL. :lmao: Anyway, Fantasyland was not an option so the Main Street Bakery was the consolation prize.

~The third option would be a Starbucks in Tomorrow Land with the clever incorporation of a Star Wars theme -- now this could have been epic!!! *sigh* :sad2:

~This "Main Street Starbucks Bakery" place just looks odd to me, as I expect the coffee house/cafe' concept to exude a certain level of sophistication and chicness. This may explain why Disney remains steadfast in portraying their Starbucks as a bakery. Overall, I'll just have to live with the "changes" but I will never turn down an opportunity to roast Disney Main Street Starbucks! Never.
:cool1:

As excited as I was for the Main Street Starbucks, it was a big letdown when there was no seating. There aren't really a lot of good options in the vicinity to sit down inside or outside. If there was an ample outside seating area nearby that would be completely satisfactory to me. As it is, I tend to only go in when I know one of the few outside seating options will likely be available. I don't like drinking or eating while walking, so if that's my only choice, I'm going to pass on it.

The Epcot one shouldn't be an issue though, I can just go sit at the Electric Umbrella.

It's kind of odd to hear about people going to Starbucks and not sitting down to enjoy it. When I go to Starbucks it's often not just for the drink or pastry, it's for the experience.

mmmm...salted caramel....mmmm skinny vanilla latte....mmmmm caramel brule latte....I will be happy to have these at WDW.

Me too! I thoroughly enjoyed getting my iced coffee, walking out and down Main Street to my first ride of the day :cool1:

This!

DRDISNEYMED--There is not a Starbucks in my hometown that looks like that! The ones here all have very tiny seating areas, that you maybe see 1 or 2 people in. Usually there is no one sitting.

And as for people who go to Starbucks for the experience, do you really think that will be true when you are at WDW? That you would want to chill and soak up the Starbucks atmosphere when you have the Magic Kingdom or Epcot waiting for you to enjoy?

I already know what I am planning on doing--sending off my nephew to grab us Fastpasses, while I get my Venit Iced Caramel Macchiato with Whip! Or if it is cold, and Venti White Chocolate Mocha! :goodvibes

I think it makes a difference whether you are just stopping in for a cup of your favorite beverage, or if you are getting food as well. It's pretty easy to walk and sip . . .you still have a hand free to carry whatever (handbag, camera, napkins, phone, etc.). But when you get food and a drink, then you have to figure out a way to add that to the mix - and sometimes it just calls for a table or counter to set something down. Even if they would have run some perimeter counter space with seats across the front, or down the side, it would have given someone a place to eat without having to juggle so much. Even a shallow counter without seats would have been better than nothing. It gets even more complicated if you are trying to feed children as well as adults, as you often have to set your food down to assist them with theirs.

I'm not a coffee drinker, so Starbucks isn't a big deal to me. But I would often go into the bakery and get one of their sandwiches for a light meal if there were tables available, and I miss that. Even though Starbucks is selling food, no way I'm buying food without a table or counter to use for dining.

If I don't sit to drink or eat, I do not enjoy what I am consuming. I'm not going to waste money on something that I can barely taste because my attention is elsewhere. To really take it in is maybe 20 minutes, as long as it's not rope drop, I don't think that amount of time is really going to be too significant to my park touring. I also tend to stop by for Starbucks on my way out of Magic Kingdom.

Starbucks, counter service restaurants, table service restaurants, etc. are part of the experience for me when it comes to park touring. I don't find it to be a time consuming necessary evil. It's part of the vacation too.
