Starbucks coming to WDW theme parks

I'm happy for you guys. I don't drink coffee so it doesn't do anything for me. DH actually likes Nescafe, but he likes Starbucks too. He usually only drinks coffee once in a rare while.

Do you think Starbucks will be apart of the Dining Plan for Snack credits? Obviously the snacks could be...

For Epcot it's trickey - they have space.. but not the right "kind" of space to use.

For what they're going for in terms of thise deal.. and especially with Starbucks branding/theme stuff and the Disney announcement for DCA - not small "kiosk" overbuild locations. That's what the Jeoffrey/Joffreys (which is it?) locations were. That's the kiosks at American Aventure, Energy, World Showplace, etc..

It seems unlikely Starbucks would want those.

So for a real location the first choice is the Fountain View (formally the Fountainview Espresso Bakery and Cafe by NesCafe) but.. the Fountainview is extremely popular right now as an ice cream shop and sponsored by Edys. It has lines even in the middle of winter.

Which leave us...?

They aren't going to put it in the Electric Umbrella - though that location did once have a seperate portion toward the Mousegear end called Beverage Base, the building just isn't physically arranged to handle it anymore since they made it into Innoventions. The Land seems unlikely too - as the scatter service wouldn't give Starbucks any real presence or a "location" accessible outside the pavilion.

We don't like to hoof it up the hill to get fastpasses, why would we want to in order to get coffee?

Which leaves... Odyssey? Maybe? Kind of a huge location to support a Starbucks, but they did have those plans they -announced- and then dropped for an internet cafe at the Odyssey for the previous Food and Wine festival. So.. that's a "maybe."

You make some valid points. I'd think they would want something more visible than the Odyssey building at Epcot, something you'd have to walk past to get further into the park, not tucked away in a corner, kwim?

The biggest problem that I see with this is how many Coffee machines will they have at each stand. Lines can get very long in no time.

This totally made my day!! :cool1: I can't wait to enjoy my Grande Skinny Vanilla Latte as I stroll through the park (preferably not in 80 degree weather though). Would make for a great way to kill time as I wait for a parade in the evening! Just wish it would arrive before we do in May! :goodvibes

ya i am not a fan of this.. i can see if it was only in DTD but not in the park..

I'm kind of surprised considering they are already at Universal. Oh well, now I can get a good iced tea without a TS. :)

Well, they already charge theme-park prices anyway.

I wonder, though, will the people working these stores be Disney CMs or Starbucks baristas? I've known some folks who worked for Starbucks, and it's a whole program--practically a cult. It seems hard to imagine Starbucks giving up that control, but then, it's even harder to imagine Disney letting staff serve people within their parks if they aren't trained as CMs. And in my experience, Starbucks baristas are nowhere near Disney levels on their service. They tend to come across as arrogant and rude to me, in many (of course, not all) cases.

When I worked at Target, we had a Starbucks in our store. The employees were Target employees although they did go through training with Starbucks. You could not use a Starbucks gift card in ours although we did accept Target gift cards for Starbucks products. You could also purchase a Starbucks gift card there. The same is true for our local Barnes & Noble. I'll guess Disney will be the same.

Anyway...I would have much preferred Dunkin' Dounts or a few other choices rather than $tarbuck$. I never cared for their coffe. Always tasted very bitter and burnt.

You mean Charbucks. :rotfl:

Thats what they used to call it on some coffee forum I used to frequent. The issue was Starbuck over roasted their beans to get as much flavor out of them as possible so they could use it in their overly sweet drinks.

Note This is what was always posted and does not reflect my own opinion. These comments where made by people who would buy their beans green and roast them in home made roasters and would only roast enough for a few days.

A REAL coffee fan wouldn't drink Starbucks. I've found their mediocre coffee overpriced and even a Disney coffee kiosk in the parks was slightly better! Like the ones who say they don't understand why Duffy is popular, I don't understand why Starbucks is popular. Their coffee is nothing to shout about. I've tried tons of mom-and-pop coffee shops and over half of them make much better tasting coffee every time. The problem is that the mindless people refuse to support them so they go out of business. Starbucks is just like McDonalds: more hot air hyped marketing than actual substance. And before you cry that Starbucks is the "best" I've given them one last shot. I tried a cup last year and the year before. NOT worth the 5-minute wait in line and the steep price.

To each is their own.

For me, Starbucks = the real world and I like to escape from the real world when I'm at Disney! I'm not a coffee drinker though, so this is probably great news for all of the "real coffee" fans out there. I know I have family members who will be as excited about this as a new attraction...ha.

I'm sure Disney will do a good job of blending Starbucks in wherever they decide to put it. I'm having a hard time imagining where they could possibly put this in the Animal Kingdom though...I remember when they had the McDonalds kiosk and that was weird...

Umm, ok. You don't like Starbucks. We get it. I consider myself a REAL coffee fan and I like Starbucks.

About Starbucks giftcards..

I was just in my local Target that has a Starbucks and used my iPhone Starbucks app/giftcard to pay yesterday. So.. there's that.

I would certainly think they'd take Disney's giftcards, but who knows.. we'll have to see.

Well, I'm not a big fan of real-world chains/branded kiosks in the parks but if it means I can get a decent cappuccino I guess Starbucks will do. It isn't as though Disney was going to start brewing decent coffee on their own after all these years.

Maybe it's changed since I worked there! I've been gone a year. Good to know because I never understood the logic. :)

Moving this to TP community as the date for WDW has not yet been announced :)

Combining threads too :)
