Starbucks coming to WDW theme parks

So not excited about this. :(

Just feel like it's infiltrating my alternate reality.

A REAL coffee fan wouldn't drink Starbucks. I've found their mediocre coffee overpriced and even a Disney coffee kiosk in the parks was slightly better! Like the ones who say they don't understand why Duffy is popular, I don't understand why Starbucks is popular. Their coffee is nothing to shout about. I've tried tons of mom-and-pop coffee shops and over half of them make much better tasting coffee every time. The problem is that the mindless people refuse to support them so they go out of business. Starbucks is just like McDonalds: more hot air hyped marketing than actual substance. And before you cry that Starbucks is the "best" I've given them one last shot. I tried a cup last year and the year before. NOT worth the 5-minute wait in line and the steep price.

I was a Barista for Larry's Beans in Asheville, NC, for years ~ and learned a LOT about coffee.

Starbucks burns all their coffee beans, over roasts them ~ so that all their coffee will taste the same, like Starbucks Coffee.

They don't take time to roast the bean as it should be roasted, to truly bring out the wonderful and delicious flavor and accents that are exclusive to the country the bean originated from. They buy the lowest quality bean, and over roast it.

The coffee is truly not good coffee. If you were to taste a cup of Starbucks coffee with a coffee roasted with care, you would really see the difference.

Mom and pop coffee shops are usually MUCH better, I agree.

I do like my Starbucks though ... for their Iced Mocha Lattes. I don't drink regular coffee there though ... I go to the local coffee shops for that, or make my own Larry's Beans at home in my french press.

I am very excited that Starbucks is coming to Disney World, I think it's great for all their fans out there. I look forward to getting an Iced Mocha Latte there, and a Birthday Pop, those are good.

It's about time Disney!

Don't drink coffee but my Dad does. I'm pretty sure he'll be happy to hear about this since I'm hoping it will be open in DCA before our September trip.

ETA: Wonder if they'll serve their smoothies there too? That and their hot chocolate are the only things I drink from Starbucks.

I'm sure my parents will be happy about this because they are not fans of the Nescafe stuff.

The best con job every on the American consumer. Over priced coffee, just to be popular with the end crowd......:confused3

I totally understand where you're coming from. There are so many companies that brainwash consumers into believing that they NEED xyz product.

I know of this company- they have clothing lines, toys, video games, TV shows, you name it. They've even got several feature films out, and the movies are nothing more than vehicles to build more toy/clothing lines out of.

And would you believe this- they've filled not one, but MULTIPLE theme parks AROUND THE WORLD with characters from these movies, and use the movies as an emotional hook to con parents into spending thousands of dollars so that their kids can meet their heroes. And then once they arrive at the parks, they see more characters, thus ensuring upon their return home that they'll need to buy MORE movies... and of course the toys and clothes to go with it.

The horror of it all

:thumbsup2

Wonder if there's going to be a FP line. I expect the lines to be long. Now we just need to get'em to open up a location in each of the resorts. The coffee at the resorts, especially in the rooms is horrible.

I LOVE Starbucks! I might have tried it to see what all the hype was about but I now love it. It has absolutely nothing to do with being with the "in" crowd. So excited to know that I can get a decent latte on our trip.

I don't think Starbucks is the best coffee around (nor do I feel cool when I drink it-- for a 20-something hipsterish chick, it is most decidedly too "mainstream" :lmao:) and it is indeed in the upper price ranges. But Nescafe is swill and coffee is necessary in my Disney commando repertoire. This is great news indeed.

They weren't going to start carrying coffee from my favorite little cafes around town, but it's a far sight better than Nescafe so I'll take it!

All true and yes, I too love their iced lattes - their burnt beans go wonderfully with a ton of milk, sugar and flavoring (mmm mint mocha :rotfl:)

In true keeping with tradition, you still won't be able to get a decent cup of coffee in all of WDW. :rotfl2:

Finally, a decent cup of coffee in WDW. Can you imagine how long that line will be in the mornings immediately after rope drop? :scared1:

Haha! For sure! But I have to say it will make me a little more tolerable of my super early ADRs! :):worship::worship::worship:

If they're smart, they'll figure out a way to sell the iced/frozen coffee drinks while you're waiting in line at Splash on a hot day!

I know, don't they? :lmao: No matter how good an iced mocha is at Whole Foods, or the local coffee shop, it doesn't have that punch that the burnt Starbucks beans have, that does go so well with milk and chocolate ...lol.
