My boys - 8 and 10 - are interested in Star Wars but we’ve never watched the movies. Neither my husband or I grew up watching. Well I did love Ewoks when I was a kid but I didn’t realize they were Star Wars related until recently 🙄. Where do we start? What is good for the boys ages? What is good to watch before our trip to Hollywood Studios?

I would also think about watching the Lego Star Wars shows. They are short and on Disney +, but you have to at least watch 4-6 of the movies first. 4-7 would be better so they know who Rey and others are. I think those ages would really enjoy the Lego versions.

Just a warning, the 8 year old especially might get bored with the original movies. My daughter wouldn’t watch them until she was 10, but she basically knew everything already since we are definitely a SW family. I believe she actually watched 7 when it came out and then finally agreed to watch the others. She still hasn’t watched 1-3 (13 now), but she liked Obi-won.

I wouldn’t fret if you don’t really get through much of anything. Just like Pandora, seeing the movies isn’t a requirement from enjoying the land. It just makes a lot more sense! ;)

Clone Wars and especially Rebels could be more interesting to them, and it's Hondo Ohnak shipping business that the Falcon is operating out of. (he shows up in both series as a minor character)

But this Batuu was suppose to exist during the period between episode 8 and episode 9. So really if they saw just episode 7 & 8, they'd know most the characters you would see in Batuu.

But yeah it's interesting, even if you don't know the names of anyone or anything....

A lot of it depends on if your kids are interested in space and space ships. The newer movies with the better graphics will definitely keep their interest more than the older ones especially if they’re not following along with the storylines.
