Star Wars Weekend Tips ~ 2011 Update

does jedi mickey, etc walk around the park, or is it a meet and greet?

Is the parade starting at 11:40am this year?

Does it follow the same route as the other DHS parade?

Thanks!!!

I would love to join in...do I need to sign up and then is it a live chat? How does it work...

just go into the site, click where it says chat and you just write your name (I use the same on all Disney sites) and you're good to go. It's live so it starts at 8 and usually ends around 10pm. See you there

Jedi Mickey, Princess Leia Minnie, Stormtrooper Donald and Darth Goofy have a specific place to do the meet & greets, last year it was next to the ABC Commissary.
The schedule doesn't come out until the first weekend, but it's been around noon time for the past years so I don't see them changing the time
It starts near the entrance and works it's way toward the Star Tours Stage.

I do friday the 28th I figured it would be easier to be in the park already, but now i am wondering if we will miss the opening show , does any one know if you can see it from any where in the park or do you have to be in the front becasue I am now thinking about canceling it.

The Stormtrooper show happens on the roof at the entrance of the park, right above the turnstiles, so you will have to be outside the turnstiles to see and hear them. It's very funny and a real treat for SW fans

I'm soooo glad I found this thread! I'm going to WDW with my eldest (DS12) in 2 weeks. We'll be there for the first weekend. We haven't gone before and really don't know what to expect - other than looong lines for everything!
He's most interested in the Limited Edition pins etc and meeting the characters (not really into the celebrities). We'll arrive at the park 1 hour before opening time.
Quick question - since we'll make sure to arrive at the park at least 1 hour before opening - do we find the line for the store right away (at 8am?) or head that way after the park opens....? We'll probably plan on Friday and Saturday so if we need to miss a couple things one day and do them the next that's ok - he just doesn't want to miss out on the pins especially in case they sell out.
Thanks for putting this thread together!!

I'm super excited that we will be there during SWW, we will be in HS on June 13th :) My oldest son is 10 and autistic and star wars is one of his obsessions he is thrilled to be able to meet characters!

love everyone's pics!

This was my thought in booking the breakfast as well. My son doesn't care about the characters at the breakfast. Have a quick breakfast and then be only steps away from the Star Tours area. I really want to try to get my son in the parade, and I'd like to pick up some pins without waiting in line for hours. As tempting as the Stormtrooper skit is, I think I'll stick with my original plan.

Next planning chat on sww.studioscentral.com/main will be this Sunday at 8pm if you guys want to join for any other questions.
May the Force....and some nice breeze be with us ;)

I joined their last chat and it was super helpful, I will for sure be at the next chat! Friendly bunch too!!:thumbsup2

Thanks, we consider ourselves a little family, we have lots of fun when we meet in the parks too!!

Thanks for all the info!
DS, DH, and I are HUGE Star Wars fans ( I even have a EU character named after me). DS is vibrating. We will be there the first weekend on Sunday.

Is there a schedule out for show times and things yet?

I hope they have LE pins left by then and DS wants the toys. He has saved and saved.

Thanks again for all the info!

The schedule usually come out the first weekend, I usually go on Saturdays and this year I'm seriously considering going the first Friday just to pick up the LE Emperor Stitch. I don't want to run the risk of it selling out, since there are only 1980 of them.

if you only want the regular star wars pins you don't need to get in the line at Wicketts Warehouse since that line can be brutally long in the morning (try it late in the afternoon). For the non-limited edition SWW pins you can find them at some of the kiosks like in front of Sounds Dangerous. Or maybe the pin station under the hat. Last year I found some at Youse Guys Mdse in the Streets of America area.

I thought I read yesterday (somewhere) that Tatooine Traders is closed during the week of SWW and only open during the festivities...is that the case?

for the disney character (mickey, minnie etc) meet and greets- do you stand in one line to see them all, or do they each have individual lines?

If we are there at rope drop and go straight to the meet and greet character lines how long of a wait do you predict we will have?

last year there was one line as a previous poster said near the ABC Commissary st, and the characters rotated. So it may be stormtrooper Donald when you get in line, then maybe Darth Goofy or Leia Minnie by the time you get to the front of line.

Hopefully Jedi Mickey will be inside the Sounds Dangerous theater for pics again.

And as I recall these characters do not come out at park opening so we will all need to check the map info they give out. Just reviewed one from last year and it just reads, " Star Wars character encounters at numerous locations around the Star Tours attraction and Premier Theater 9 AM to 7 PM". But keep in mind that this is not a continuous line for Donald, Minnie, Goofy.

Jedi Mickey hasn't been inside Sounds Dangerous for 2 years now, they're using the post show area of Sounds Dangerous as "rain locations" for the celebs autographs,

if I want to get the LE pins, how early should we arrive, assuming there is a separate store line up someplace?

I'm willing to get up and go whenever I have to. DH wants the DVC and AP pins and I want to make sure I'm not spending the whole day in line. I'd rather give up my sleep and be one of the first in line. ;)

The DVC and AP pins usually don't sell out, and in the past only on the first Friday there has been a line made for merchandise but not after that, you just go to the store. This year the LE items will be at the AFI store, the store that you go thru when you exit the Backlot Tour, all other SWW merchandise will be at the store in front of Studio Catering (forgot the name), that one that's open aired; and Tatooine Traders.
To the other poster Tatooine Traders is open all the time, they don't close it during weekdays.
Things are running a bit differently this year, with all the celebs signing autographs and these 2 new locations for merch, so I guess we just have to wait for weekend one and report back

What is LE Emp. Stitch? Is that a pin or a plush? And if it's a pin, do you know what the LE plush will be? I've gotten a couple of them from past years, and would like to get one this year.
