Star Wars Weekend Tips ~ 2011 Update

Thanks. I was worried that we would be stuck in long lines. The only must have picture is with Darth Vader.

He's out at 9am and stays till 6pm. As soon as you finish eating, head towards the Backlot tour- he has area set up over there. We are going the same day, so see you in line! :darth:

So, I have some REALLY exciting news!! My dad has a conference in Florida the first week in June, so we will be going to SWW on June 4th! I'm really excited because Ray Park is going to be there that weekend! Maybe I'll even see some of you there!:banana::banana:

Congrats! You will love it.

We are also going to SWW on June 6th and have an ADR for 7:50 AM at H&V. Our purpose of the adr was to get into the park ahead the rope drop. I hope! We can care less about the characters at Hollywood and Vine but we all need a good breakfast! I was hoping to go get my fp for TSM, RNR, TOT in the AM and make my way over get fp for Star Tours so then we can fit our rides in between the character meets! All my boys care about is taking pics and autographs with the characters not the actors! So I am hoping we can fit it all in. I also made an ADR at Sci Fi for lunch at 12:30 so that we have a place to cool down bf and rest in between everything.

I am so excited for our trip! It's May already!!!!

I've been trying to understand everything that has possibly changed since we were there 2 years ago. Please help me understand what's changed.

Can I still take my youngest DS to sign up the parade & trivia near the Sounds Dangerous" stage? Is there anything new about it?

My oldest son can get in line for autograph FPs w/ his Dad for the two of them.

And then we all plan to head to TSM for FPs

Do the autograph FPs affect your abality to get ride FPs?

They are not into the behind the scenes talks. They like to be part of the atmosphere now & don't do autographs/photos. They like the parade & LOVE the Hyperspace Hoopla.

Am I missing anything big that's changed?

Thanks!:flower3:

this may have already been posted, but I haven't read all the way through everything. Do the Stormtroopers still do their skit when it is EMH?

Pin questions -

1. Are the DVC and Pass Holder pins released all at once, or do they release a certain number of them each weekend? I'll be there on Sunday of the second weekend? I'm just wondering if I'll have any chance of getting the DVC pin (1200) or jumbo pin (250)? I'm guessing if they release all of them at once, some of the limited edition pins would sell out on the first weekend.

2. I'll be in Disney the day before we are planning on going to DHS. Would it be a good idea to make a side trip over there late Saturday afternoon to pick up some limited edition merchandise? I was thinking that the bulk of the lines may be finished by late afternoon.

Which is more crowded....

(June 11th weekend)...

Friday (early EMH) or Saturday

Has anybody had a ADR at the play n dine at HV that was before park opening on SWW? I have an ADR the first day of SWW and I'm wondering how hard it will be to get past the crowds and in the park. Excited about SWW, but worried about getting over run when park opens.

They do the show even if it's EMH, the start about 45min before park opens

I think they release all merchandise at the same time, even for DVC AP; the crowds tend to leave the merchandise area in the afternoon so its a good idea to go then, unless you really want something and you fear that it may sell out

In my experience its the same amount of people, I always go on saturday and have gone on sundays and friday and to me its the same

They have a separate entrance for people with ADRs, you should be OK. They open all turnstiles for everyone about 15min before park opens
Hope this helps

Thanks for the information, it definitely helps. Do you think I should keep the ADR if it means missing the opening stormtrooper skit?

I read on here that Sunday was the best day to do SSW. Well be there June 2-10. Touringplans lists Saturday as the best day to do HS. Which do you guys think would be the lighter crowd day?

We did Sunday last year and will be doing 2 Sundays this year as well. I wouldn't call it light crowds, but I have no other SWW days to compare it to...

If I am not interested in seeing the celebreties, but do want to see the storm troopers etc ..what time should I get there.

Is having brkfast with Little Einstein, Jojo and Goliath more important than seeing an awesome opening show with Stormtroopers on top of the entrance Roof?? Yeah I'm biased, I don't know your priorities, you and your family should talk about it and make the decision :confused3

In my opinion all days have around the same amount of people for SWW. I really haven't seen any huge difference between any of the days

I am all about seeing Mickey, Goofy and Donald Dressed up in star wars outfits!!!

That will be my main goal.

Last year Jedi Mickey, Princess Leia Minnie, Stormtrooper DOnald and Darth Goofy alternate their appearance next to the ABC Commisary. I don't know where they'll be this year. It was Mickey then came Minnie and the Donald and Goofy together.

Next planning chat on sww.studioscentral.com/main will be this Sunday at 8pm if you guys want to join for any other questions.
May the Force....and some nice breeze be with us ;)

It would be the stormtroopers for us! I like this thread and find your posts very informative. Wish we were going to SWW this year...sigh...

I do friday the 28th I figured it would be easier to be in the park already, but now i am wondering if we will miss the opening show , does any one know if you can see it from any where in the park or do you have to be in the front becasue I am now thinking about canceling it.
