Rogue One is the best. I like the Mandalorian (ep. 1 and 2.....then 6, 7 and 8). The middle of the series just meandered. I also feel like the reveal of the Dark Saber came way too early. I'm actually a bit fearful of Season 2. I get the feeling they're writing these episodes on the fly, much like the current trilogy.

Rebels....man I loved that series. I started watching Clone Wars with my kids. I like it, but not as much as Rebels.
ya .. I want to watch through the Clone Wars with my son (he enjoyed the Clone Wars "movie" (the start of the series). But some of those story arcs are just weird (like the whole Nightsisters witches thing) or snooze fests (like the weird "force gods" ones).

I also never liked it how the episodes are NOT in chronological order.

I don't really see how someone can call RoS emotionless, or as I've seen elsewhere in other reviews, "it contains no redemption arc." I just feel I must be watching a different movie with the same name somehow.

I also don't like the comparison game as far as trying to pit RoS against Mando... and I especially don't understand the people commenting about Disney screwing up Star Wars forever, but they luv the Mandalorian.

OT, but I love JJ! Lost is my favorite show of all time! I thought 11/22/63 was amazing....the only time I’ve ever loved a movie (mini-series) even more than a book. I also really enjoyed Castlerock, but I haven’t watched the second season yet.
The problem with JJ (especially in Alias and Lost) is he is great at creating MacGuffins or Mystery Boxes ... but doesn't know how to bring those to a satisfying conclusion (probably because he just creates the "mystery" without every thinking about what the END will be. The first two seasons of Alias and Lost were great .. but then seemed to go off the rails (because I guess they just didn't know where to take it). So JJ can make some great 'hooks".
The sequel trilogy suffers from the same thing .. everyone like the "mystery" in the Force Awakens and was severely disappointed when the Last Jedi through every one of those out the window.

Rise tries to make up for that, but in general ..while I enjoyed Rise, I feel like it was written from simply a "we have to answer/resolve all these questions the fans have from Episode VII" .. it was almost like a laundry list of fan service. (Which, I admit, I enjoyed. Rise gave me everything I was looking for - the new group "adventuring" together (and their banter), some answers about Snoke, answers about Rey, Kylo's redemption, etc. etc.
It just feels like a lot of that should have come in Episode VII instead of having the new characters split up 100% of the time and having the slow space chase plot device. Really that's the problem with VII -- nothing really happened -- it really only seemed to set up the "Force mirror" thing that Rey/Kylo has (which was expanded on really well in Rise).

The SW fandom is a strange one. You also will never please everyone. It is strange when people rave about something from the Disney Star Wars yet also say everyone should be fired and Disney was the worst thing to happen to Star Wars.

Well, at least we have Baby Yoda New Year to help bring peace to the entire fandom in 2020

One thing that I did really like with Ben giving Rey his life force is that is lends support to the theory I've seen that Palpatine transferred Padme's life force into Anakin, and that that is what saved him and caused her death. It helps Padme's death make more sense and creates a cool comparison with how Ben is giving up his life willingly, in contrast to Padme's being stolen from her.

Rouge One was very good. I think one and done films is where Disney excels at. I no longer have faith in them producing a trilogy over a 4 or more year period. Too many changes up top to create a cohesive story.

I’m with Eisner. TROS is a mostly enjoyable movie but the only time I felt anything was when Chewbacca found out Leah died. I’m interested to see how it ages I feel like Rogue one has aged the best of all the Disney movies.

That and a few other Leia related moments got me ... Also some emotion/nostolgia "fan boy" excitement when all the ships came and stuff. But can also understand those that say it wasn't something that drew them in emotionally (though I know others that were really into the Rey/Kylo "ship" that were really into it emotionally)

Just wondering if others had the same reaction I had when Leah was on screen. It totally took me out of the movie. I was trying to see what tricks they were using to make the old footage work. Nothing they could of done to prevent that except not have Leah in the movie.

It took me out of the movie but not necessarily for any technical reason, I guess a more emotional connection? With TLJ I knew Carrie had finished filming and what we were watching was her last work. Similar to Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. With TRoS I knew, maybe just on a subconscious level, that she wasn't there to really film these scenes or that they were meant for another film. It felt weird and sad.

I thought the Leia stuff was fine, and I agree, the most choked up I got was Chewie breaking down over Leia, and it made it more of an impact because Chewie had to be ripped up that there were no more Solos to watch over since Ben had turned.

I was also sad when Ben died because I think Adam Driver did a fantastic job with what he was given showing that he was truly a Solo, and the big grin he gave Rey totally changed his vibe. I think they could do a lot of interesting things with the "force dyad" angle, esp. with one of them dead oddly enough.

The weird thing for me personally was the Lando emphasis... I really didn't ever like Lando all that much, so I loved the ships all showing up at the end, but the Lando thing was just "meh" to me.

I must be the only one who isn't a fan as described by so many others. I don't have the vast knowledge that everyone does, I don't really care about cannon or whatever. I just want to enjoy what I'm watching and comment on things that I didn't enjoy (and did enjoy). Not everyone is such a heavy dedicated fan either way (whether it be the original, prequel, or new).

I wasn’t criticizing any of the Leah stuff. I just could not help myself when she was on screen I was looking to see if I could spot how they were doing her part with old footage.

I did this too. In fact, the first time I saw it, I realized that I missed most of the content of her scenes because I was trying to figure out how they did it. The second time through I tried to just take it as part of the movie. It is fascinating though.

I agree with everyone on the Ben/Rey storyline. I was sad he died too, but I really couldn’t see how it could have ended up differently for them considering how violent and unhinged he was in the earlier movies, even with his transformation. Watching it a second time, I was amazed by the performances by Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley. This was really their movie and the push/pull between their characters and their struggles and connections really pulled me in. I was not one who was “shipping” them in the earlier sequel movies and I found myself really invested in their story. In fact, it’s the only one of the ST that I’ve wanted to see in the theaters again. I liked Force Awakens and was okay with The Last Jedi but didn’t love it, but I really loved this movie. I think it had a lot of heart and the message about choosing your family despite where you might come from really resonated with me. I really have to give kudos to Adam Driver. Watching Ben’s transformation all through his actions and emotions without having really any lines after his interaction with Han was impressive! I think he did amazing things with that character. And none of it would have worked if he and Daisy Ridley didn’t have such great on-screen chemistry. I wish there were at least a few more scenes of them happy together before his arc ended, but I thought they did a tremendous job with the scenes they had, especially the light saber transfer on Exegol and everything that came after.

Finally decided to throw my opinion into the ring.

I've watched it twice now and given it some time.

Didn't really like it.

Even though it's a story about laser swords and mystical things, I still prefer my story/entertainment to have a cohesive story, plot and characters. I don't think that is asking for too much.

I'm glad this trilogy is over, they've killed off all the originals and seem to have soured the new actors into doing anything else SW related (at least John Boyega). So we can now move on onto other SW endeavors. I'm excited to see what other ideas they can come up with, and I hope they get far away from the Skywalkers. Many other stories to be told of other people/time periods.

Just some bullet points:

Music: music is one of the best parts of movies for me. Besides the sith planet screeching, I couldn't name one memorable theme or song from this movie. So that was a miss.

Plot points: what was even happening?? so many different sets/needless characters. An ancient Sith dagger that has a map to one of the wayfinders, that perfectly matches up with the death star wreckage...ok I guess it's not an ancient sith dagger and was made in the last 15 years? I just don't know. Sorry, I guess I'm thinking about it too much. I'll just focus on the explosions and pretty people. I realize that expecting things to make sense is asking too much and I'll get slammed for it.

Planet killers: this is an awfully dangerous galaxy. I wonder if, after a while, no one is even affected by losing planets anymore because it happens so often. I guess the Star Destroyer that killed the Zuri Bliss planet is still out there?

Fake deaths: gets tiresome after a while. Chewie dies! no he didn't. C3P0 makes a huge sacrifice and basically kills himself. Nope, he's back. New character Poe love interest with the coin and cute? little alien who kills (or not) C3P0 are dead! Another planet destroyed. Nope, they're fine. Rey kills Kylo! Nope, she heals him, he's fine. Kylo blasted down a giant hole, he's gone! Nope, he's back.

Leia: most of her lines made no sense. Rey says she is going to fight a big bad evil and Leia says 'no', then just stands there and stares at Rey? ok. They should have redone the ending of the Last Jedi and had Leia be the one to sacrifice herself by lightspeeding kamikazing into the First Order fleet. They already had footage of her on a bridge that was destroyed.
It was painfully obvious none of her scenes were filmed for this movie. Personally, it really took me out of the story.

Poe: he was pretty, yes. but not sure of his overall point.

Finn: He has something important to tell Rey. Comes up numerous times. But hey, why resolve this in the movie? We can give the major plot point from a tweet. Myself, and every other person I talked to, thought he wanted to tell Rey he loved her. Big fail of the movie there. Would have liked it if his arc had been to free the other enslaved children stormtroopers. Instead he didn't do much.

Maz Kanata: was flying around in a jetpack with a blaster fighting in Jedi, this movie doesn't join the fight and stays back watching and then gives Chewie a medal because the internet wants to see Chewie get a medal?

Rey: whatever. I guess falling in love with someone who wipes out all his fellow Jedi students and kills his dad is ok? Very romantic. In all seriousness though, would have appreciated if the movie slowed it's frenetic pace to focus more on Kylo and Rey and dark side and light side.

Why was Dominic Monaghan even in this movie?! Weird stunt casting. Could have given Carrie Fisher's daughter or Rose his lines and been fine.

Why were two new female characters added and Rose ignored?

I'm sure there's more but the movie kind of exhausts me.

It's fine that other people loved it, just wasn't for me.

I with you please move on from the Skywalker story. There are plenty of stories to tell the Mandalorian proves this people will watch if it’s done well.

I'm pretty convinced people will watch SW even if there's no lightsabers. Though I wouldn't mind going way back to Old Republic and seeing some giant sith/jedi battles.

I'm still waiting for my X wing squadron TV show.
