I don't know anything about Star Wars so please be nice to me....LOL
My friend is planning on taking her children to Disney. She is not a Dis person or would she ever be. She'd rather I just planned for her. LOL
She is under the impression that their was to be an extra special Star Wars "party" for 2015 because of some new movie coming out? But the release date for the movie isn't until December 2015. Does anyone know if there is anything special for Star Wars 2015? or 2016? or even rumors???

When is her trip? There are Star Wars Weekends, which are very party like in atmosphere Fri/Sat/Sun for several weeks in May and June.

There's Star Wars Weekends which run (usually) from middle of May to middle of June at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Disney hasn't announced it yet but it's assumed it's going to happen again this year too.

Nothing is announced, other than the estimated release date. I would think they would have some media hype events at DHS. Probly some Star Wars cast members making appearances, something going on at the Sci-Fi theater. Not a full on Star Wars Weekend ensemble, but something. Maybe fireworks show, maybe a ticketed event. Maybe a fireworks show with VIP ticket offering. Who knows.

Would you rather be there during a Star Wars event or not? We're going around that time and will be happy if there is something cool SW related going on, but if not it wouldn't be any worse.

You didn't say if you were interested in Disneyland or Disney World. Each has very different Star Wars events. Disneyland usually has only one weekend event but Hollywood Studios has 4 or 5 weekends (as said above). Each HS Star Wars Weekend has different guest celebrities and this is the driving force for most SW fans. I saw Mark Hamill last year in his first ever appearance at HS SWW. It was really crowded that weekend but I did see his stage interview show. This year, I'm hoping that the new movie will cause more of the big names to show up to SWW.

The "some new movie" is Star Wars Episode seven: The Force Awakens" It's highly anticipated (and by highly, I mean Star Wars fans are going out of their freakin' minds about it!, including me) and will be released 2015 (forgot the month! Bad SW fan, bad!)

Star Wars Celebration will be in April in Anaheim (Boo, Hiss!! I want it back in FL!!) Celebration is a huge convention with all sorts of Star Wars stuff. It is convention, not a special Disney party or anything. Certainly not hosted at the parks.

Star Wars Weekends are down here in Florida at the Disney Hollywood Studios. It is made up of several weekends between May, June and July, much like the Flower and Garden weekends or Food and Wine. Things that happen on the weekends include a SW parade, possibly a Star Wars themed breakfast at Hollywood and Vine, shows, and lots of SW character M&G. The parade includes celebs and the 501st stormtroopers and the Rebel Legion fan groups marching.

I'm not too sure how much character and merch they will have regarding EP7, but I'm sure it will be A LOT. Last year, they had tons of stuff that had the new animated series, "Rebels" out (T-shirts, glasses, figures, hats and other stuff). So I expect the same because EP7 is so exciting.

If you want to catch a peek at the new movie, the teaser trailer is up on youtube right now. Make sure it's the OFFICIAL trailer, there are a lot of fakes out right now.

Disney Parks blog just announced 2015 Star Wars Weekends dates are:
Weekend I: May 15-17, 2015
Weekend II: May 22-24, 2015
Weekend III: May 29-31, 2015
Weekend IV: June 5-7, 2015
Weekend V: June 12-14, 2015

Well the breakfast is already able to be book for the whole month of May . Got my may 4 and for a day during the end of the month also
Nothing yet as far as the dinner. Last year they had a special viewing area of the parade which i think you paid for but im awaiting info on that in the super SW thread above
