GetTravel states on their terms and conditions that the tickets they sell are not upgradeable. Be sure to click on the terms/conditions button, rather than just read the ones they have posted on the website. They tend to differ.

I took the ticket to a Disneyland ticket booth on day five of the pass, September 2, 2014. I hadn't read the back of the ticket, but the cast member pointed out the print that states it is a sports ticket and non-upgradable.

Thanks guys!

Does anyone know, if I buy a 3 day park hopper, do I have to use the 3 days consecutively? Could I even buy extra days to use on another trip?

You already got the "consecutive" answer for this one, and I think the same answer also addresses that you need to use a ticket within 14 days of first use.

HOWEVER....

If you look at the tickets, you'll notice in the T&Cs that they expire at the END of the year (like Dec of 2015, for the Star Wars tickets). This means that if you buy EXTRA tickets, you can use them later on the year for trips, as long as they have not been used yet. Once they're used, the 14 day rule will apply.

I just got done reading all 22 pages of this thread - whew!:coffee:

My SIL and I are doing the 10k. It will be the first Disney race for both of us! We are so excited!!:yay::yay:
Not sure where we are staying yet, (she's already booked a couple places for us to choose from). We will be at DLR 1/13-1/18.

Thanks everyone for all the tips on here (running, traveling, etc.). Keep 'em coming!

Anyone have stretches for shin splints? I'm feeling the start of one and want to make sure it doesn't turn into an issue!

No stretches, but strength training moves ~ when you're sitting and knees at a 90 degree angles, feet flat on the floor. Place a weight or something heavy on the toes of 1 of your feet. Then keeping your heal on the ground, lift just the tops of your feet w/ the weight on it and lower. I do 3 sets of 20 on each side. It strengthens the muscles behind you shin bone. That and KT Tape!

Non-Disney note, I was curious about the Nike next month and they changed the course this year!! You run through the city, kind of like Bay 2 Breakers, through GG Park and then reverse last year's course to the Marina Green where it finishes. I like it, but the downside is that you run up that long downhill you ran down on the other side of the bridge.

Thanks Kim! I'll start doing those at work!

I saw they changed the course...actually makes me glad I'm not doing it this year! But guess what I did this weekend? Registered for RnR SF! Super excited and scared at the same time! Theres just something about running in SF that is so magical in a way. Dont know why I love it (cause I HATE the hills) but I do.

You sound just like me! :rotfl2: I was at the game Friday night and was wanting to do a race in SF so bad. I don't know what it is about running in SF, but I have such a love/hate relationship w/ it. I miss it so much when I go for a while when I'm not signed up for a race there, but then I do and ask myself why I did it again. :rotfl2: I have to find another race, b/c I did the Bridge Across the Bay 12k in March and loved it, but got an email from them saying they were discontinuing it. :headache:

Lol! I'm glad I'm not the only one then! Let me know what other race you decide to do instead!

Through Get Travel (they partner with runDisney):

http://www.gettravel.com/starwars/themepark.shtmlt7

I did this for the Disneyland Half. You pick up the tickets at the Expo in the same area as you pick up your race number and commemorators. You can order in advance or purchase them in person with no advance ordering (but they cost a few dollars more).

Note: My 5-day park hopper was not upgradable to a Annual Pass.

Thanks. .. this is exactly what I was looking for. :yay:

Thought of you today ~ got an email from RnR SF to register. :rotfl2: was tempted, but held off b/c it's the sme day as my last long run before Big Sur.

hehe! Have you done Big Sur before? Thats on my "someday" list. You doing the half or the full?

I got in for the full. :yay: Lucked out and got in through the 1st round or reg when it opened and I 100% credit the craziness of these races for knowing to be on and logged into active before reg opens so you can get right in. :rotfl: I did the last 4 miles as part of the relay race, but never the full. I'm so excited to run that one, heard it's 1 of the most beautiful and it's the 30th anniversary.

They still have some spots left for the 10 miler and 9 miler... just throwing it out there. :rolleyes1

Hey everyone. I wanted to let you all know about a new race series in Southern California. With four races in four different cities through the end of the year I think this series is going to be great.

As an Ambassador I can offer you 10% off your entry fee for any of the four locations.

Just used code RunLaceUp8 and register here https://laceuprunningseries.com

Each event will feature a Half Marathon, 10K and 5K.

DF and I just signed up for the Run Like Hell 10k here in Portland. This year's theme is "Under the Sea", so I'm breaking out Ursula again. (I ran as Ursula for the Enchanted 10k earlier this year.)

My Darth Vader dress needs a bit if work before the Star Wars 10k, though. Anyone else planning to run in costume?

I am! Boba for the 1/2, and either a storm trooper or SW Cinnabon earred Leia for the 10k. I'm going as the Matterhorn for Avengers(not a big comic book fan) so I'll have a white running skirt and just need to pick up a white shirt. No outfit for the 5k, just a regular running shirt and capris. I've thought about something from Spaceballs, but don't know if anybody would get it.

We ran Expedition Everest as Episode IV Luke and Leia, so we are going to recycle those. May make a few alterations, as that race was at night, partially in the rain. We stayed warm!

hehe if I didn't sign up for RnR SF already I would totally consider it! Maybe the next year!

I can't think of a costume for Star Wars! I think its cause Avengers is first and i'm having trouble thinking past that one. Hopefully I'll get some inspiration soon. If not I'll just run in "normal" running clothes lol.

This was probably already discussed and I missed it, but is any one else wondering about the wording used to describe the half marathon course? It says something about "running around Disneyland Park" after going through DCA. I will be so bummed if we don't go through the park! Plus, it sounds like the 10K is more outside the park than in, instead of how the 10K course for the Disney Half was set up. I was looking forward to the 10K because I thought it was mostly in the park :(.

"Your course takes you through Disney California Adventure® Park, past Disneyland® Park, and then on to the terrestrial streets of the surrounding areas."

"...past Disneyland park..." does not sound very magical. We'll just have to wait and see. I compared the description to this year's Tinker Bell Half course description but discovered nothing clarifying.

I wouldn't worry yet. Run Disney is growing notoriously famous for typos and mixing up info on the site, emails and race programs now. :goodvibes

We could possibly completely skip DL, but in all the races in the past, we haven't. The description for the 10k is way too long mile-wise for 6 miles and aside from the very beginning, is the Tink course for the 1/2 like the PP mentioned. If it is like Tink and you include the DTD part, we'd be in the resort area for about 6 and the city for 6 which is more mileage than the Avengers and the DL 1/2. The last mile is usually the backside of DCA to the finish line. Now again, rD is getting bad about info and this could be a cut and paste from the Tink site, but I really think they mixed up the 10k and 1/2 info.

And with the 10k, there'll probably be some differences, but for the most part it'll probably be like the DL 10k where the 1st 2 miles are outside the parks and the last 4 are parks and DTD or like Tink where the 1st 4 are in the parks and the last 2 are on the streets. It's easier and cheaper to get most of the miles in the parks, b/c it's less $ for permits and road closures around the parks.
