I finally made the plunge! I booked at the Fairfield once the races were announced. After a lot of debate, we added 2 day to the trip and switched to Grand Californian! So excited, first time at DL, figured might as well live it up a bit.

Sad to see from another site that Soarin', Luigi's Flying Tires, and Splash Mountain will all be down in January. That's the tough thing with winter months. Lots of refurbs. :crazy2:

Don't worry yet. The refurb list has been changing quite a bit this past year for DL and DCA. I'm sure some things will be down as it is January but keep your eye on the refub schedule as we get closer to get a better idea.

Now that Tower of Terror 10 miler is in the bag, it's time to focus on planning and training for Star Wars Rebel Challenge, I really enjoyed my first RunDisney event so now makes me look forward to SW even more! We upgraded from Fairfield to Grand Californian last week and added a few days to the trip.(thank goodness!!!!) plan to figure out how many days we are spending at parks.

I ran my proof of time 10K race yesterday. Due to a last minute course adjustment (another reason to dislike the Cowboys) the course was long by nearly a half a mile! I still pr'd it but not by as much as I wanted to. Oh well. Submitting to track shack today and resting. I feel good my training paid off. It was awesome to have Mike Wazsowski (AKA my Garmin) reflect a 12 minute improvement on my 10k time! Still scared about a half but I am going to run one next month to get past the first time jitters.

When do the course maps usually come out?

I don't know but I sure hope its soon! The Avengers course was discovered online before it was officially released. I think they officially released it last month which would be 2 months before the race.

Hey everyone. I wanted to let you all know about a new race series in Southern California. With four races in four different cities through the end of the year I think this series is going to be great.

As an Ambassador I can offer you 10% off your entry fee for any of the four locations.

Just used code RunLaceUp8 and register here https://laceuprunningseries.com

Each event will feature a Half Marathon, 10K and 5K.

Okay, I caved!! :rotfl2: I got the email about the discounted price for RnR SF b/c of the Giants last night and I really like the shirt. I looked at the course and saw how hilly it is (if it stays the same, hope it does) and figured it would be a great training run so flipped it for the following weekend and am running it w/ you now. :goodvibes

hahahahaha YAY!!!!!!! I saw that discount last night and shared it hoping a few more would join me! So glad you caved hehe.
I'm actually really looking forward to it. Never run the bridge before and never done an RnR. Hopefully my IT band wont mind the hills too much.

You'll loooovvee the bridge! The views coming back towards the city are absolutely amazing. Unless there's fog. :rotfl2: You'll feel and see more of an arc than what you do driving, but it's not too bad. And I didn't see on the site, but if we're on the sidewalk instead of a lane, you can see & hear the waves and fog horns of the barges below. It could get a little tight if there are a lot of runners, but hopefully it's not huge and there'll be some room. Also, once we get off the bridge and before going down hill to the Marina, the view there is just as pretty and you can see the Palace of Fine Arts and greens, it's beautiful.

1st race email came out today!! :darth: If anyone wants it and didn't get it, pm me your email address and I can forward it to you.

I PMd you!
I am struggling with a sore ankle from kicking my prior 10K times booty. Hoping next week it will quit poofing up on me so I can start prepping for my first half in November. Eek!

Ahhh! I was so excited to get my race email today - mostly because it seems like my days of not being on the receiving end of them are over. That and it's nice to be able to read my emails again. My laptop officially kicked the bucket a little while back so I haven;t been able to get on or update anything but I have a new laptop and I am back in business!

Now if only I could get myself to start training :(

I just got done reading all 22 pages of this thread - whew!:coffee:

My SIL and I are doing the 10k. It will be the first Disney race for both of us! We are so excited!!:yay::yay:
Not sure where we are staying yet, (she's already booked a couple places for us to choose from). We will be at DLR 1/13-1/18.

Thanks everyone for all the tips on here (running, traveling, etc.). Keep 'em coming!

Sorry it took so long, but I've got you added to the runner list! Hope you enjoy ;)

Quick question, After getting the email I decided to look over all the registrations again (Rebel, 5K and my DDs kids race) I noticed that I somehow managed to register her as Male, all in all that prob isn't that big of a deal right? Same shirt, bib and medallion, so does it matter if it's wrong? Thank y'all for any thoughts.

Small errors are made all the time (my birthdate was completely wrong the first event I registered for). You shouldn't have any problem contacting them and getting it changed.

Thanks for the details! I can't wait!

Hmmmmm what should I do?

Just got an email from DD's school that she has a minimum day on Thursday before race weekend. We were just gonna drive up Friday morning (about 8 hours drive with the kids), hit the expo in the afternoon and have a few hours in the parks that day. But now I'm wondering if we should just drive down on Thursday instead. Granted we wouldn't get there til 9:30 or later depending on LA traffic. But that would give us an entire day in the parks on Friday, aside from time spent at the Expo. It would cost us about $350 for another night at PPH though. Is it worth it?

Howdy everyone, had another question, thank you to everyone who helped with my last question. Since ToT 10 miler isn't happening, I've seen a few people talk about they were hoping for legacy in 2 years. So even if you signed up through an official travel group, should still be able to get legacy as long as you complete the next 4 as well right?
