Hi all, I've been following the other Star Wars
1/2 thread. I am registered for the Rebel Challenge and 5k

Imagine my delight when my surgeon yesterday said I needed to walk often and work up to brisk walks around the block before going in for my two week post op. I am so thankful to start healing. And training soon!!!! When is everyone else starting to train?

Yay! Thats great!
I'm doing Avengers in November so I'll probably start training for that race in Sept. Once thats over with I guess I'll just keep my long runs up to stay ready for Star Wars!

Hey Bella Ella thanks again and I'm sorry for the confusion. I must have gotten mixed up with the thread when I used my computer instead of my iPad. :)

I'm in for the Rebel Challenge. Still hoping I can talk my DH into making this the 2nd family DLR trip in as many months, but otherwise I will be down there solo.

Hi Jessica! When you have a few spare minutes (ha ha ha, yeah, right!!), I would like to be added to the list for the 5K and Rebel Challenge. Thank you!

Yay, that's great! :cool1: I'm finally getting over my injury as well and can't wait to get back out there. I have a bunch of races pre-SW so I officially start next Tuesday and pretty much go straight through to SW. Although even w/ all the other races 1st, I am in fully planning mode for my costume. :goodvibes Haven't started anything yet, but have been trying to figure everything out and planning.

What did you injure? Today is going well so far but I am getting tired and a touch more sore as the day goes on. But I am not even 36 hours out yet so that's to be expected!

I tore the fascia I my foot. It's taken a long time to heal, but being the foot that's expected. Thankfully, the pain is almost gone and it feels more like plantar fasciitis now which I will gladly take. The hard part will be me remembering to start back slow and not jump into where I was.

What about you?

Ouch!!!! I just had my gallbladder removed. It looked like junk I hear so that's oddly reassuring. I've been trying to run and completed my first 10k about 3 weeks ago but not gonna lie it's been rough! Hoping lots of things get easier now that it's out.

I've started training, but it's been more off than on. I always struggle with this when it comes time to begin training for a race, but I'm hoping that because I'm dealing with this now before the actual Galloway program starts, I'll be better at following that.

Good luck to all recovering from injuries. I always live with this weird fear that I'll get hurt and that will screw everything up.

I certainly tried to fight this off. But it just got too bad. Goal is to walk a mile over the course of today. But it's hard to not overdo it. Except for the whole painful belly button thing! Can't plan for everything, just deal with the cards you are dealt!

My dh and I are doing the Rebel Challenge. One of our 14 yo boys loves to run (and is a natural), so he is doing the 1/2. We are also taking our 2 yo and signed him up for the kids' race. So excited!!

We have reservations at the BW Park Place Inn. Is this a good option or should I keep looking?

Welcome to all the new additions to the thread! Hopefully you'll stick around and discuss planning and training and all the fun things as we inch closer to race day. I believe I have the runner list currently updated now!

Some of us are certianly falling apart right now, aren't we? I'm rather annoyed at my lack of training at the moment (I'm supposed to be prepping for the Disneyland Half in August right now. But I've had an onslaught of dental work and I can't really chew anything so eating properly for training has been hard, plus the pain and discomfort after each procedure.

Just gotta take it one day at a time!

Thanks for the update! Hope the healing is going well. I am hoping to get out of train wreck status soon. But we shall see. Tomorrow my goal is to walk around the block. Boom!
However I am beyond excited seeing myself listed for the half. My goodness! I have SO much work to do!!!!

Add me to the injured list! I'm 99% certain my outer knee pain is ITBS. My sports med Dr. isn't in this week so I'll have to wait til next week for a real diagnosis. But in the meantime I'm just going to keep my runs short (it doesn't hurt til I get over 3 miles, so Im gonna keep them at 2 miles) and do some hip/glute strengthening exercises and stretches. I'm just glad I don't have a race I care about on schedule until Avengers in November. Plenty of time left to heal and train.

Count us in. My husband (Fred) and I are doing the half. After a successful 10mile TOT, I'm ready to get my coast to coast on!

Looking forward to the planning (and training)

~Kristina

I started my training this week! I signed up for the half. I am starting from scratch(meaning I am super out of shape) so this week I was just walking 2 miles as fast as I could. Tomorrow is my 3rd time. I am feeling good that I have walked the 2 miles in 32 minutes the first time and 31 mins the second time!

I really have no idea what I am doing, I don't even like running:rotfl2:
