I signed up for my first half! My BF and I have run the TOT 10 Miler about 3 years in a row and decided it was time to do our first half and get a coast to coast.

We almost signed up for the Avengers Half, and even though I love the Avengers, I am obsessed with SW and so happy we waited.

I think we'll do the Wine and Dine at WDW for the other half of the coast to coast.

We were actually in the parks for the last day of our trip for sign ups. My BF's sister is also running and she was texting us as we sat outside IJ desperately trying to get the phone internet to work so we could sign up. I think we got in when there was about 80% capacity left.

Welcome to all the new runners who were able to get in! I've got a crazy work schedule for the next few days (plus one dentist visit, yuck) so I may not be able to get more names added until Friday. ;) Hope you all had a great hump day! Let's get to the weekend, shall we!

That's what I did in 2012 after doing the Disneyland 1/2. I loved the completely different experience of a night race.

I have some questions about the chEAR packages. My mom will be coming down for the race and due to some foot problems, she cannot handle being on her feet for very long. After she commented that she would do a 1/2 on each coast just to get the coast to coast medal, I told her that if she did one 5K, I would do the C2C and give her my medal.

Is the chEAR package a good option for her in that it guarantees her a place to sit down? Or is she not going to get the bang for her buck?

DW and I will be doing the Rebel Challenge (my first half). DW, DD(12), DS(8) and I will be doing the 5k as well. Having DD try to find a good Princess Leia costume that she can run in, so we can go as Anakin, Padme, Leia and Luke. So far the only ones I have found are the white dress with the cinnamon roll buns.

Everyone should be updated on the runner's list! If I skipped over anyone or get it wrong just let me know. I'm just a little out of it on pain killers right now, so who knows what I'd do.

... Now to stress over Tink registration!

Here, here! Registration for Tink is the most stressful for me, personally. I'm going for legacy and so I have to get in! I'm nervous about that one all year long, and we still have to wait until August! And now I'm fearful I wont actually be able to because I've got a lot of dental work to be done that's pretty much tying up all my funds for the next 2 years. Gah!

Whoop Whoop ... My wife got us registered for the 1/2 marathon this afternoon. Her and my son will be making their first trip to Disneyland in January and I will be making my first trip in over 30 years when I was far younger than my son is now.

It's definitely changed a lot since then, that's for sure!

All registered for all 3 adult races but was wondering does anyone know what the pin, necklace or jackets look like. Will they be available at the expo or only pre race. Have a hard time ordering something I have never seen.

Unfortunately they probably wont release any images for any of the merchandise until much, much closer to race weekend and the Expo - and the pins probably not at all. But when they finally release images of the medals, the pins will probably be very similar to those.

And by the way, did you register for all 3 events separately or did you sign up for the Rebel Challenge and then the 5K? I just want to be sure I've got you added to the right list? Right now I have you under each one individually, but it's an easy change.

I'm doing the 10K, and I'm pretty excited -- it's my first runDisney race! I took up running about a year ago, because I decided someday I wanted to run a WDW Half-marathon. Well... this is me slowly getting there. :) I'm running about 4.5-5 miles pretty regularly, so I should be able to get my distance up quick. I'm not ready for the Rebel Challenge this time around, but 2016... you just wait!

The late appearance of the 10K link didn't help things -- my AP friends had already registered, and I was freaking out that I'd have to train up for the half, before I checked the runDisney twitter.

If you're at 5 miles pretty regularly, you should be a-OK come January for the 10K. You've still get lots of training time. I really hope you enjoy it! And it's definitely a step towards running the WDW half, and maybe even the full ;) We never know until we try, right?

Belle Ella can you add me and my wife BelleProfHP to the list of 1/2 marathon runners. Thanks in advance for being awesome.

You've got it! :thumbsup2

Signed up for the Rebel Challenge! Can't wait!

:cool1: for another Rebel Challenger!

Panicked when I didn't see the 10k link and went with the Rebel Challenge.

My first half! Not sure if I am excited or scared...

It's perfectly OK to be a mixture of both, but you can do this!

I'm in for my first half!!! So excited!

I'm excited for you!

That would be my choice for coast to coast as well.

Aw, sounds like a fun idea to get the whole family to do the costumes.

I'm planning for a May 2015 trip that will probably include a Run Disney race just so I'm prepared for the announcement! I know, I'm crazy...

If they don't add a SW race in May, there is always the Expedition Everest Challenge. That was a load of fun this May, and my friend and I even did it dressed as Luke and Leia too! Now we get to recycle our costumes for the DL SW race! (Leia must have had some wicked thick hair because my 'buns' were really wimpy!:lmao:)

I've only ran in costume once and enjoyed it. For the 2012 Wine & Dine 1/2 I went as Prince Phillip from Sleeping Beauty. My modified race costume consisted of a long sleeve black tech shirt with a gray tech shirt tank top over it and a red pillowcase for the cape. My dark blue Nike sweatpants completed it. While not technically movie accurate, in the dark it was close enough even if one CM thought I was Superman. :rotfl2: Might I recommend watching the forest moon of Endor scene from Return of the Jedi. It may give you all kinds of ideas about Leia costumes that might be simpler to run in.

I officially started training today. I have already decided that one of my costumes will involve the Yoda backpack because I kept thinking of scenes in The Empire Strikes Back where Yoda is training Luke and likening that to training for the Rebel Challenge.

Definitely doing 2 costumes. The second one is wide open, possibly including a Jedi Knight version of Prince Phillip.

Quick question on hotels for the race since my family is new to Disney races ....

If we stay at a hotel on Harbor can we still walk through the Esplanade and Downtown Disney area to get to the start line? Or do we need to go all the way around the outside of the park?

That's how I've done it both times. And I strongly recommend staying as close as possible. In 2011 I stayed at the Fantasy Inn & Suites on W Katella. It's a 15 minute walk to the Esplanade. Not terrible most of the time, but on race weekend it was long. I stayed at the Desert Inn & Suites for the 2012 Disneyland 1/2 and loved the very short walk to the Esplanade, especially for being able to take breaks and not wipe myself out before the race.

This will be my first marathon at Disneyland.

Can anyone tell me about where my girlfriend should go as a spectator when we arrive? Generally can they pick the area they want to watch in, or are you randomly directed to a certain spot along the running path?

Thanks in advance!

The last 3 weeks have been crazy for me and I can't remember if I posted to this thread or not so sorry if this is a double post. I am in for the Rebel Challenge and DD is in for the kids races. We actually just got back from our Disneyland vacation a couple years ago so I'm still coming down from that high :)

Not sure if I replied either. My friend and I are in for the rebel challenge! Woohoo!

It's a little hard right now, not knowing the course, but if she's up and wants to watch you at the beginning, we could also either be running down Katella into the parking lot behind DCA or down Ball into backstage DL and she could stand on the street to watch. Another spot might be the concourse b/w DCA and DL or we might run through DTD. At the end, we could be running down disney Dr into the parking lot of DCA again or up Harbor a bit to the parking lot. That's usually around 11/12 or so. For the finish line, for the DL course a good spot it b/w the AMC Theaters and ESPN Zone; we run down that service road. For Tink and the finish area a lot of people either are inside the parking lot b/c we do a little turn around before the finish or they watch where we cross over DL Dr from the back lot of DCA by Paradise Pier. Once the course is published, it'll be easier for suggestions. But she can go and watch wherever she wants really, unless the area is for the chear squad, and a lot of people will move around during the start/finish areas.

I know tickets to the event are sold out, but are there any wait lists or possibilities of getting tickets the day of or something like that? We were not able to get tickets, but would really like some. I'd like to get tickets for my 2 little boys to run if nothing else. We were planning on a trip to DL that weekend anyway and then saw that it was the Star Wars run. All my boys (my DH included) love Star Wars. We even went to SWW last year in WDW. I guess we could go just for fun, but we would sure love to participate in the events. Any info you have would be great. Thanks!

Try Get Travel or jim Stone at Acclaim Travel, they might have some bibs left. I haven't looked online, but check out the run disney site, sometimes they list travel companies and charity groups that have bibs as well. Even if you can't get bibs for the races, the expo is open to the public and in the conference rooms at the DL Hotel and there will be merchandise for the races.

I know someone was asking about whether DL has ever had a marathon a few weeks back. Someone posted this Mouse Planet article in a fb group page today! Wish they could figure out a way to bring it back.

Thanks for sharing! Very interesting read for sure! If they ever did bring a full back to DL I think I would have to get serious and do it!
