I loved the new Star Wars fireworks show at HS, but they could do some work to make it more viewable. If you weren't standing right in front of the Chinese Theater your view was blocked by all the trees. Hopefully they will make that area more viewer friendly as time goes by. Great show though!

Even up front at the Chinese theatre, I had poles and trees blocking some of my view, mostly of the screens. I could see the actual fireworks well. But it seemed there was more screen time than air time.

And this is precisely why we always do the dessert party now. It is hard to see and without seeing the theater, you are really missing 90% of the show.

I haven't seen this one yet and my expertise of the park size/layout is not great. Is it very hard to get spots in the better viewing areas? It doesn't especially look like the decent viewing is really big enough for the number of people I'd expect wanting to see it. Wondering if poorer experiences are due to not knowing where it's best to stand vs. not being able to fit there even if you do know.

I guess slightly off topic, but the star wars themed fireworks that i saw at HS in April are no longer a thing?

I'd guess that it's 75% of the time the guest would not know where to go and it's a small percentage of those that do can't get to the areas where you need to go. If that makes sense.
If you want to line up an hour or more before they start and you know where you need to be you can get a spot that has a clear view.
But, you do need to know and I'm not sure, short of being one who reads the reviews, would know they need to be in clear view of the theater. It's not really like they make it clear in the on site information.
If you walk up just before it starts and even if you do know where you need to stand you may have a hard time getting there. That part depends greatly on crowd level that day I'm sure.

We walked up and found a spot about 10 minutes prior to viewing. I know I needed a view of the theater, but didn't expect to miss 90% of the fireworks due to the trees.

Watched the live stream of this show on Monday. We saw the old version in April and I thought that was so much better. There are already so many options for "nighttime spectaculars" around the parks, and what I really like is fireworks. Loved how they were set to the music. My 7YO loved the old version too. I won't be going out of my way to see the new "spectacular."

We watched the show Sunday night from right besides the dessert party viewing area and still missed a great deal of the projections. There were masses of people three feet in front of the dessert viewing area - didn't seem to be a great view for the price of the party. None of the small kids could see over the people right in front of them. Heard some grumbling from the party goers since we were right beside them.

We enjoyed the previous show much better

I don't understand why they would create a show with such a limited viewing space. I've seen the show several times and if your not up front you will not be seeing much. Also, for those debating about the dessert party it's not that great of a location for the price paid.

Even if you do the dessert party, you should stand on the far right of the reserved area or some of the projections to your left will be obstructed by a tree or two.

This concerns me as we are signed up for the dessert party in August. there is supposed to be a taped off walkway directly in front of the kids viewing area, so there shouldn't be a mass of people blocking their view. Was that not the case when you were there?

We've done it with the new show and had no problems seeing.
